Welcome to Wednesday, Hump Day and as per usual, my Friday.
Thanks to the wonders of the schedule I was able to sleep in this morning. I didn’t really sleep in as long as I had planned, but I was able. Because of that, this edition of the musings isn’t really from the morning.
Huge sports night last night. Absolutely gigantic. First was a Toronto Blue Jays pasting of the Texas Rangers. The good guys rode the hot bats to a 9-0 win and former reliever Brian Tallet pitched 7 fantastic innings to pick up the win. These two games in a row is a good start to the short road trip. Fingers are crossed that I’ll be at the game on Friday night and snap a couple of new pictures.
In other sporting news there was a basketball game being played in Orlando. Tiger Woods was in the crowd which E-ve was quick to point out to me and the Dwight Howard led Magic won their first ever win in NBA Finals history. The team was swept in their first NBA Finals appearance when it was Shaq and Penny playing in sunshine state. The game was good, although admittedly I wasn’t paying super close attention at the start of the game.
The reason that I wasn’t paying attention at the start of the basketball game was because I had the TV tuned in on 006 for the NHL Finals game 6. The Penguins played like they didn’t want to lose and lucky for them, they didn’t. All the expert talk is now centred around whether the Red Wings can keep Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin off of the score sheet in game 7. They have managed to contain them over the last 2 contests and the experts find it hard to believe that they will be able to do it again.
Yesterday was also day one of the MLB first year player draft. As we Twittered last night the Blue Jays took a Canadian pitcher with their 2nd pick in the draft. James Paxton went 37th overall as the compensatory pick for losing AJ Burnett to the Yankees last winter. He may have gone higher if not for his agent, Scott Boras. This guy is known as the Devil in baseball circles. Here’s hoping that it’s a good move for the Blue Jays in the long term.
Big thanks to E-ve for the hang out and watching sports time last night. And of course for her left over noodles. Thank you very much.
We’ve got a hand held cam version of The Hangover on the pc today. There are some pretty funny moments for sure. I was expecting far less and thought that it was all just a marketing machine. I am happy to report that I seem to have been wrong.
Supposed plans for hanging out and discussing plans with Heath tomorrow. I am both nervous and excited. Things need to happen quickly, and that’s the scary part.
Biggest tease of the day so far goes to the girl in the Ice Cream truck that parked in front of the store and did some quick shopping next door… and didn’t open for business before she left.
The afternoon is now upon us and time can’t move fast enough. I know it probably sounds like I’m whining, but do any of you really wish you were at work right now?
Love to Ottawa.
Like wham!
