Monday Morning Musings, Alliteration All Around

Good morning everyone. Welcome back to the work week for those of you that had the weekend off.

Yesterday after work I vegged like a man that deserved it. First I made some pasta with tuna and brewed some tomato sauce with onion and mushrooms and peas and spices. The sauce wasn’t as fantastic as it could have been… but next time I’ll have an idea of what I want to do to play with it.

After dinner I crashed on the floor to watch some TV with pillows under my head. The MLB Network has a show this season called The Pen where they have a camera crew following the Phillies relief pitchers and documenting the season from their perspective. It’s a pretty cool show for a guy like me who can’t get enough of everything baseball.

After it ended I watched Chris Rock: Kill The Messenger on TMN and laughed along while I checked the Twitter feed and sent some texts from the BB. I was tempted to put in the Evening With Kevin Smith 2 discs after Chris Rock, but I opted for disc 5 of Veronica Mars season 1. And wouldn’t you know it, my timing was perfect in that as the 2nd episode ended I was able to switch the feed back to TMN see the episode of Entourage. The boys are back, as the ads will tell you, and the season looks to be in full swing. After the episode ended I hit play on the V. Mars again and watched that til the end of the disc.

In between I got to chit chat with E-ve and rehash our days and her night out with old friends and other such things that make me smile when I’m chatting with her.

It’s Mommy Z’s birthday today. It’s easy to remember the 2 birthdays because they are the day after each other. I’ll give her a call later. Remind me if you have the chance.

It’s the last day of the month which means that it’s the last day that I’ve paid rent for the old apartment. There is one more load of things to be pulled out of there and then I’m done. It won’t be pretty and I may be there for a few hours trying to get things cleaned up, but I’ll try not to leave too big of a mess. The way I figure it though, I don’t owe that landlord anything. He never did anything for me, ever…

This eating breakfast before leaving for work thing could turn into an awesome trend. Big thanks to E-ve for turning me onto the idea. I know it’s not ground breaking, but it’s a tough thing to talk me into changing my morning routine.

Weekend box office numbers are in. The Final Destination finished in the top spot with Inglorious Basterds coming in second and Halloween 2 rounding out the top 3. No big surprises I guess, but it does seem kind of early for 2 horror/ slasher flicks to end up in the top 3.

2 mornings in a row I have woken up a little chilly thanks to the turn in the weather. I think it may be time to officially call the end of summer here. I’m not looking forward to bigger blankets quite yet. I was just getting used to being comfortable instead of crazy hot and sweaty in my sleep.

Congrats to the kids from California as they knocked off Chinese Taipei to win the Little League World Series yesterday. It would have been the 18th title for Chinese Taipei, but they’ll have to wait another year. Now we just wait to see if there is any crazy controversy upcoming with ages and such.

And thoughts and prayers go out to the people in B.C. and California and every where else that is being hit with forest fires right out. Thanks and prayers and praise goes out to the firefighters who are braver than I ever dream of being.

With that we’ll call it a day for now.

Sunday Morning Musings, Like Wham! Edition

Good day sailors.

Side note: That welcome goes out to all the boys in the Pride parade in Ottawa today.

On an unrelated note, as seen on le Twitter feed, it’s step-Daddy Z’s birthday today. E-ve and I are hoping to get out for a visit in the next couple of weeks to see the freshly started renovations at the homestead.

I kicked back in the new chair to rock some NHL 2K9 on the PS2 last night while the Blue Jays were busy not hitting against the Red Sox. The chair is fantastic, I can get out of it without feeling like I’ve been stuffed in a box or crippled like I sometimes feel like when I’ve been sacked out on the floor. Thank you again to E-ve for the awesome house warming present.

Super happy to be back up and running on the mobile today so that I can fire off text messages to E-ve and Jake and Romeo and such. Sorry to everyone if you were trying to reach me yesterday.

The sun looks like it wants to shine right now. It sprinkled some rain down on us earlier, and even got a little bit heavy for a few minutes with some umbrella’s making an appearance on the street out front of the store. Fingers crossed that the sun wins out in the battle.

Sort of happy, sort of sad news that I shared with E-ve a few days ago. I’ve found on the NBC website that Chuck will be returning for a 3rd season… but not until March 2010. As E-ve pointed out, it will mean that I won’t have as hectic a Monday night schedule this fall.

I was going to start writing last night but I got super tired. I was going to write about my dream dinner party with friends and Kevin Smith and Jennifer Schwalbach. I’m sure that I’ll pick it back up again soon and maybe there will be some more dream guests invited.

Sorry that it’s taken so long to get this posted, I’ve had a pretty cool customer in to set up some stuff.

The Blue Jays are losing, the sun is shining, and I think it’s time to wrap this puppy up.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Saturday Morning Musings, The Words Keeps Turning Edition

Hola amigos.

Welcome to the weekend. I hope that many of you aren’t at work like I am. And if you are, I hope that you’re finding time to enjoy yourself when you can.

I know I wrote about an E-ve and I day in yesterday’s muse, but I’m going to do it again today anyway. We had a great veg out day yesterday after I did a quick run to the old place to load up the back pack and grocery bags with stuff to bring over. There was more movie action with Texas Rangers, great food with Shwarma for lunch and perogies and hamburger patties for dinner. We chilled to some Family Channel and the Blue Jays game in Boston and even had time for a nap. Days like that aren’t all that frequent, but when they happen it’s awesome.

Also a huge thank you to E-ve for my new chair that I will be able to sit in while I watch TV and rock some video games. We both agree that it’s going to be a good way to keep me from complaining about back pain from sitting on the floor all the time. She’s a smart cookie.

I have a feeling that today is going to present me with lots of opportunity to write. I’m just not sure what I’m going to write about. I’ve peppered the www.hotpinkgeek.com wall with stuff lately, so maybe I’ll just stick with my own wall at www.myspace.com/wallyzblogger there’s also the Twitter feed to update needlessly as the day passes. With that many options I’m sure that I’ll figure something out.

Sad news in the entertainment world as DJ AM was found dead in his apartment yesterday. The police are saying that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene but I have not read anywhere that a drug overdose was the cause of death. I’m sure that there will have to be an autopsy before that information can be determined. It’s a sad story whenever anyone dies, but it’s been less than a year since Adam Goldstein survived a plane crash that claimed the lives of 4 other people. He was given another chance and it didn’t work out. That’s sad to me.

Favourite recent entry from www.textsfromlastnight.com (860): As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

It’s a very grey and rainy looking day outside… although the rain isn’t falling right now. The weather reports have changed from rain pretty much non-stop through Monday to rain ending sometime this afternoon and sunny days upcoming. We’ll see what happens.

President Bill Clinton is in for a busy day today. He will be at the memorial service for Senator Ted Kennedy and then he will fly to Toronto where he is scheduled to speak at BMO Field on the CNE grounds. Reports have surfaced that ticket sales have been so slow that there will be $5 walk-up tickets to see him speak.

Watching the Japanese trailer for “2012” on the pc next to me in the store. It looks to be another disaster movie from the minds that brought you “The Day After Tomorrow” but this time they’ve roped in one of my favourite actors in John Cusack. If this movie isn’t good I’m going to be upset with either him or the film makers… but probably not him.

I just keep rambling so I think that it’s time to shut it down for now. Have a good one folks.

Friday Morning Musings, Who Else Misses ABC's TGIF?

Happy Friday boys and girls!

Another quick go today as yesterday was a whole lot more relaxed and enjoyable than it was productive at the old place. It was a great day. We vegged out and watched TV and movies, made a trip to the grocers and ate like it was the Super Bowl.

Our day/ night double feature showed Grosse Point Blank in the early afternoon and The Dark Knight after dinner. Both movies continue to be good no matter how many times I've seen them. And John Cusack continues to be one of my favourite actors.

We also watched some Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. The Tournament of Champions questions were challenging, but between E-ve and I we got some a good chunk of answers right.

Today now becomes work a little harder day as the end of the month is coming.

Good luck for good weather to a bunch of friends out camping this weekend. Have fun and keep the bug spray handy.

Congratulations to Canada's Senior Men's Basketball team after a huge 95-40 win of Mexico in their World Championship qualifying tournament yesterday. Leo's kid, Andy Rautins poured in 18 points to lead the squad. Team Canada plays again today and you can catch at 4 pm on The Score.

Okay kids, time for to get dressed and get to work. Have a great Friday!

Thursday Morning Musings, E-ve's On Her Way Edition

Morning all.

Quick day off check in and hello as E-ve makes her way over and my smile gets bigger.

I put together the 2009-2010 Montreal Canadiens as best I could last night on my NHL 2K9 game because I couldn't wait for Sept 15. Not a huge fan of the game play and that is ultimately what will lead me back to EA Sports this fall.

Should go back to the old place today to grab some more thing s and clean up some more. I have hats and the coffee maker and assorted other small things still kicking around over there. I'm sure there's room for them here as well.

Not sure what the rest of the plan is for today. But I'm sure that it'll turn out to be good. Days with E-ve often are.

Dinner last night was a pantry affair. I felt very bachelor-y as I whipped it up on the stove, but it wasn't terrible and it filled me for the most part.

Since I had myself in such a hockey mood I turned on the NHL Network and watched some old play-off action as I fell asleep. I even woke up this morning with 2002 highlights of the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes.

I fired off a list of geeky things that I'm looking forward to this fall and posted it at www.hotpinkgeek.com yesterday. It includes NHL and NBA video games, the release of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and of course Superman/ Batman: Public Enemies.

Well folks, I think I'm gonna sign off now. There's a whole day ahead of us.

Be kind, rewind, tell a friend and keep on truckin'.

Wednesday Morning Musings, Mid-Week Posty Posty

Welcome to Wednesday friends and family.

The day has started, well it started a couple hours ago with a good morning sms from E-ve. It was an awesome thing to come from my BB because otherwise the only thing that it does in the morning is wake me up with the alarm.

It was a little bit rainy this morning when I wandered out the front door of the new building. The super was out there just kinda hanging out. We had an awkward hello, I’m not sure why it was awkward, and then I was off to catch the bus.

I am still reading this Kevin Smith diary, it’s a long read, lots of posts, lots of words, lots of fun to read.

I turned the Blue Jays game on last night but couldn’t watch it. They were losing when I got home and turned it on and just continued to do so. Congratulations to Aaron Hill on hitting his 30th home run of the year, but that’s about the only good thing that happened.

I’m jealous of the lobsters that E-ve brought home from the grocery last night. I lurve lobster and I hope that her fam is appreciative and uses lots of melted butter!

Haven’t thrown out this name in a while… Taylor Swift.

Wrote a couple MySpace pieces yesterday. The first was a list of things that I am thankful for. And I am thankful for every one of those things on that list no matter how much I complain about certain items from time to time. The second was me confessing to the hit counter over here and trying to move some of the MySpace blog traffic over here. So, if you’ve popped over from the MySpace, thank you and welcome. Leave a comment to let me know what you want to hear me research and rant about. The only thing I try to do here is run a family program.

And I’d be amiss to forget to thank the Twitter folks who follow me and let me follow them and may even follow the link in the tweets to come over.

Shout outs to Jake and Romeo as well. Love you both lots. Can’t help it. Lol.

Side note: I really hope that’s the last time there will ever be a lol on this blog.

The new apartment experience has been good so far. Last night I was just whipped when I got home from work so I didn’t bother to eat a real dinner, but milk and cookies on the floor in front of the TV was pretty cool. I also rocked some Tiger Woods, didn’t play a good round, but what can you do. I’ll get ‘em next time.

The stress level has been lifted only slightly as errors have been promised to be fixed… but not for 2 weeks. So that puts me in a very tight spot for now… there will be no money spent…

I think it’s time to troll the internet for more info. It’s the best part of the internet. That and being able to write random stuff and have it posted. Thanks to Bambi @ www.hotpinkgeek.com for that.

Have a great day everyone. It’s my Friday, so if you don’t hear from me tomorrow don’t call for a search party.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Love Of Dads Edition.

Good Morning ladies and gentlemen.

I hope that everyone is having a good day thus far and will continue to do so.

I’m a little stressed and thusly I will probably be firing off a short post.

The one thing I really did want to write about quickly is dads. There are ton of great dads in the world, and I know that it’s a subjective measuring stick to each child with one… but I believe that there are a bunch of you guys out there. And to you I want to say thank you.

The line of thought came about as I was reading part of My Boring-Ass Life by the talented Mr. Smith. I’m at the part right now where he is recounting the passing of his father. There’s a great story about the family being able to get together for a nice dinner for the first time in too long and then the sudden death of Mr. Smith the patriarch. What follows is the eulogy that Kevin Smith shared at his dad’s funeral. It’s a sweet and heart wrenching thing that made me miss my dad and made me sad that I missed his BBQ on Sunday. It also made me thankful for the good times that we’ve shared over the years. I’m also thankful for my step-dad. We had our bumpy times, but now things are pretty awesome. I love them both.

The Kevin Smith eulogy also reminded me of a famous Canadian eulogy from a few years ago. When Prime-Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau died in 2000 there was a state funeral and a lot of grieving around the country. But what I’ll remember most is the way that his son Justin spoke at the funeral. The speech was sweet, loving and memorable. I was 18 at the time and it shook me completely. I absolutely dread the day that I may have to make a speech like that. We’ve come close, too close for comfort.

I do have a favourite memory for each of my dad’s and they both make me smile. One happened when I was a little boy at a baseball tournament. The other happened as an adult at the kitchen table with a bottle of Rum and a bottle of Pepsi. They aren’t even remotely similar, but I love them both.

I think that’s enough of the weepy stuff for now. Let’s move on.

Fingers crossed for a relaxed and restful day for E-ve today. Days off are few and far between and the ability to kick back is far overdue.

I talked to Mommy Z on the phone for a few minutes last night. It’s cool to be able to just chat with her these days. I like it a lot.

I also watched WWE Monday Night Raw last night, almost in its entirety for the first time in a long, long while. I don’t want to take away from any of the die-hard wrestling bloggers, but I’ll share a little bit. It was Mr. McMahon’s birthday so DX (Triple H and The Heartbreak Kid) had a birthday celebration for him in the ring complete with showgirls and Elvis (the show was in Las Vegas) but they were interrupted by Legacy. Their tussle resulted in a main event match made with Legacy facing off against DX feat. Vincent Kennedy McMahon. The best part was Mr. McMahon saying my favourite line in all of wrestling “If you ain’t down with that we’ve just got two words for ya…” and he let the crowd finish the quote.

I just got an email that is supposed to explain the money in my bank account, but it does a terrible job of it. Le sigh.

This post became a whole lot longer than I thought it was going to be.

I have to get back to work and trying to figure it out what else is going to happen today.

Wish me luck… and as always, if this is the only day that you stop in… See you next Tuesday!

Monday Morning Musings, Tracking The Movement Edition

Good morning webiverse. I hope that you all are awake and functioning.

I got all techy this morning and added a hit counter to the site. I don’t know if it’s a decision that I’m going to love, or hate. And I don’t know if it’s something that is going to shake my confidence daily. But we’ll give it a shot and see how it goes. Fingers crossed that you readers are out there.

Big thank you to E-ve for the visit, the TV watching, the Pork Chops and mashed potatoes, and the fantastic company. It was the first homemade meal at the new apartment and all of a sudden it felt like an apartment and home. I really liked that feeling.

The next project will be to grocery shop after I get paid this week.

My fingers are crossed that E-ve gets to take a trip later this week. I know that she’s looking forward to seeing friends and enjoying her time before classes start again.

It’s also been pointed out to me that I have been reckless on the keyboard lately resulting in some typos. I’m not happy with that so I’m going to try and tighten things up. It’ll be like personal training on my writing. It’s not going to be fun, but it has to be done.

Watched Entourage last night. I like the show, but the episodes go by so quickly. I got so used to watching multiple episodes in a row at work when we were getting into it that a single show just doesn’t seem long enough.

Big pats on the back to Travis Snider, Ricky Ruiz and Ricky Romero after yesterday’s win by the Blue Jays over the Angels. The 3 rookies combined to mash the ball at the plate and befuddle hitters from the mound. It’s games like that which lead to optimism moving forward. The only problem is that we’ve had a bunch of kids over the last few years that have showed promise but not lead us to the Promised Land. Off the top of my head I can think of Jesse Litsch, Gustavo Chacin, Russ Adams, Erik Hinske, etc.

I had a career best 22 under round of 49 while playing Tiger before E-ve came over last night. I rocked the ball, won the money, boosted the power and got called manly by the announcers. All said, a good day on the course.

Wrote a quick piece for the MySpace yesterday about why I love being a geek. It’s not long, and it’s not earth shattering, but it was nice to write.

High five to everyone on the MySpace and Twitter and the everywhere. The goal is still to get @ThatKevinSmith to reply to a Tweet… stay tuned.

That’s it for today, for now.

Sunday Morning Musings, Fawning Over @ThatKevinSmith Edition

Welcome to Sunday everyone.

The day has started and I’m at work and the coffee is hot and I think I may make it through the day.

Big love to E-ve, I hope that the sleep you got was as good as you were hoping. Sleep in and enjoy your day off.

High five to Jake after what seems to have been an interesting night at Queen of Pride in Ottawa. It sounds like the contestants were hyped and ready to go. There were back up dancers, people being carried to the stage and good times. Congratulations to Sultana on being named Queen of Pride.

Big love to the Gay Communities of Toronto, Ottawa and the rest of the world. I’ve always felt welcome as a friend and the parties are always a good time.

Fell asleep last night to George Lopez and his HBO comedy special. To tell the truth I don’t even remember any of the jokes, just him yelling a bunch at the start of the show. I woke up and turned the TV in the middle of the night and that was the end of it.

I did rock some Tiger Woods 2005 on the PS2 for a couple of hours before that though. I think it might be time for a new game. I just mash that one on a regular basis. And it’s fun to win, don’t get me wrong, but I like a challenge sometimes too.

Today is a short work day followed by a trip to the old place to grab some stuff from the kitchen. The bank account is too dwindled to be eating take out every day. I’m no celebrity.

I picked up the Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith this morning to read on the bus. I’ve read it cover to cover before and in bits and pieces since then, but it’s always fun to read about his life. I’ve a huge fan and have a huge man crush on him very admittedly.

Side note: Remember that time that I saw K. Smith and J. Mewes on Yonge St in the winter. The picture is still on my BB.

Just a quick reminder to Romeo to lift with your legs and bend with your knees today while you are moving heavy objects. You’re a good dude for helping.

People keep coming in with questions. It looks like it’s going to be one of those days.

I’ve been YouTubing music videos again this morning. So far we’ve seen Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Ben Harper, Matchbox 20, etc. I love music. We’ll see where the rest of the day takes us.

I feel like I’m forgetting to write something that I had planned on. I’m sure it will come to me later. If it’s big we’ll fire it up on the MySpace, if it’s small we’ll tweet it, deal?

TFLN: (469): There's a Cowboys game and a Rangers game on at the same time...talk about Sophie's choice
I’ve been in that predicament before. It’s the exact reason that there’s a button on the remote control to take you back to the last channel you were watching

I think that’s all for now folks, like I said, if I remember anything important I’ll try to tell you.

Saturday Morning Musings, Manned-Up Edition

Hello, hello interweb!

Sorry I missed posting yesterday it was a really busy day in the world of Wally.

Mommy Z called pre-9am to tell me that she was on her way from home to help with the moving. After that things just started happening at the speed of light. Wake up, get dressed, head over to old apt., pick up trash, take apart old bed frame, get dresser ready to move, get clothes ready to move, Mommy Z showing up, moving 2 loads with Rav4 to new place, unloading, going to Cora’s for brunch, back to the new apt. to chill with E-ve, set up TV, DVD player, PS2, book shelf, fill shelves with books, DVDS, CDs, play Tiger Woods 2005 on the PS2, go to CNE with E-ve for a couple hours, wander the grounds, eat good food, watch E-ve win a prize, head home, play more Tiger, watch TV, fall asleep.

Side note: The move went pretty well. Big thanks to Mommy Z, Step-Dad Z and E-ve for all of their help.

Side note II: Cora’s was awesome! It was the first time that I’ve ever gone to a Cora’s to eat even after 3 years in Ottawa and another here in Toronto. The food was great, the veggies were fresh, the fruit was sweet, the coffee was hot and the company was the best. As we were leaving I even got to see an old friend. He and I went to college together back in the day and we actually watched him on Much Music Video on Trial Thursday night. We had a quick talk, smiled and he called me his first manager from an old memory. Really good times.

Side note III: We also saw the Sportsnet broadcast crew for the Blue Jays games as we were standing in line for a table. Pat Tabler is taller than I thought, Jamie Campbell is shorter than I thought, and Sam Cosentino looks pretty much exactly as I imagined.

Side note IV: The CNE was great fun, the crowd was big, the admission was $1.75 and the food was abundant. The line wasn’t too terrible on the way in, but it really chaps my behind when people just cut into a line about 100 people long. Especially when they are ignorant about it. Overall, A grade for the CNE, plans are to hopefully get Julia and her man to join E-ve and I for another day of fun.

Bravo to the Blue Jays for beating one of the hottest teams in the MLB last night. The Angels have been bashing the ball lately but the good guys were able to hang on for a 5-4 win after some unnecessary drama in the 9th inning. But, a win is a win, and home runs from Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells are always nice to see.

In other news, I’ve become a man… or at least I manned up the other night. Thursday E-ve brought over some Tequila to congratulate me on the new apartment. Now usually Tequila and I don’t get along… it has always made me choke and cough and hack after swallowing. But Thursday night was different. I licked my salt, took my short and just sat there like a regular dude. No lemon, no lime, no chaser needed. It was so awesome that we had another. I was confident that I could have kept going, but was smart enough to stop. Perhaps another day. Look out world, Wally can drink Tequila now.

The Twitter bots just keep coming. There were more add-ons yesterday and another this morning. Will they ever stop, I don’t know… (Turn off the lights, and I'll glow)

Time to wrap it up here… lots going on including Final Destination on the computer… shout out to Jake who loves the flick and is probably counting down to the next installment in 3D.

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Thursday Morning Musings, Cable Guy Edition

Good morning Thursday people.

I write today as I wait for the cable guy.

And after he shows up there's a whole lot of work to keep doing. Holy smokes I own a lot of crap.

In the last 2 days or so I've been pelted with emails telling me that I have new Twitter followers. And I love new followers, love all the followers in fact. But this is ridiculous. I have 13 new followers in that time with a total of 4 updates. Nobody has more than one. Do the math and we find out that 9 of these accounts haven't even been used at all other than to follow. Not even on a technicality. I'm not sure what key words I've been using, but I'll start to keep track more closely in the future.

Found out that there were some awesome Geeky Decorating ideas added on @BambiBlue's FB when the piece came through on her RSS Feed. I especially like the plexi-glass over the coffee table with comic book pages underneath. The best part is that you can change the displayed pages anytime you want.

I've got sports radio yapping at me on the old clock radio. The Fan 590 is still fun to listen to for me. I used to listen to it alone when I worked in the warehouse because it was lonely back there sometimes. Also, I love hearing all these people talk about sports. Some of the stuff is over my head, some of it is below me, but whatever... I love it.

Side note: I just wrote paragraphs about Twitter, Hotpinkgeek and sports talk radio... I believe myself to be a geek and I know I love sports. However, yesterday a woman challanged my ability to be a geek when she found out that I love sports. I told her that even I didn't understand how it worked, but it's what I am.

Well ladies and gentlemen, the cable guy was here and gone, everything looks great and I gotta get to working on this move. They're calling for big rain this aft so be prepared.

Wednesday Morning Musings, Travis Snider's Back Edition

Good day good friends.

So, there was a change in scheduled plans and I spent myirst night in the new apartment last night. It was an amazing feeling to have to actually turn the fan speed down because I was chilly when it was time to get some sleep.

It was also pretty cool to listen to the Blue Jays game on The Fan 590 with Jerry and Alan. The game was a knock down, drag out kind of affair that ended with the bad guys from Boston ahead by 1 when the dust settled. The final score was 10-9 which didn't make me feel good, but didn't make me feel too bad either.

In positive news at the game though Randy Ruiz hit is third home run since his call up from Las Vegas, E-ve's bf Rod Barajas hit a 2 run bomb and Travis Snider went deep in his first big league at bat since May. I think that puts him on the contender list for new favourite Blue Jay.

The weather is much nicer today, the sun is shining but it's not so hot and sticky that we fear stepping outside. I like it a lot. Good work Mother Nature!

I'm on coffee number 2 right now. A thankful customer supplied me with round 2, it could be a sign that today will be a good day.

Note to self: Keep eyes forward and mouth shut when walking in new neighbourhood. (See Twitter feed for reason)

High fives to E-ve at work today. Smile big and flirt for tips.

I think it's time to watch some Justice League on the computer.

Have a great day friends.

Tuesday Morning Musings, 1 Sleep Left Edition

Good morning ladies and gents.

It’s Tuesday, Jake’s Friday, E-ve’s Monday, Romeo’s Tuesday and my Thursday, and there’s only 1 sleep left at the old apartment.

Last night was so hot (how hot was it) that I couldn’t get to sleep. It was awful. By the time I got to sleep it was into the morning hours and I was up again a few hours later to here to open the store. Yay for summer.

Last night was an off night for the Blue Jays, so I watched some other baseball for a little while. The Texas Rangers have been on a roll lately, so it was cool to see them on primetime, and the Angels are also heating up at the right time in the West. All signs point to a good race in the West and in the Wild Card as we get to September.

There’s a quick article in the Metro this morning about up and coming Blue Jay Travis Snider. This kid is tearing up Triple A and if he can carry his success over to the big leagues when he gets the call (probably between Aug 20-25) he may put himself in the new favourite Blue Jay discussion.

Had a nice, cold chocolate milk this morning before I cracked open my extra large, black w/ two sugars. It was nice to taste the cold and chocolate on another muggy August morning. They say that we could have thunder storms this morning/ afternoon, I brought my raincoat just in case, but I’m not counting on needing it, same as always.

The CNE opens this Friday. It’s exciting, but also be a pain in my behind as I try to move from old apt to new apt in the neighbourhood of the Exhibition Grounds. Huge preemptive thank you to Mommy Z for her upcoming help with the move.

Side note: Hopefully there will be a double date with E-ve and I & Julia and her beau for the CNE.

Huge fashion news in Canada yesterday as Hockey Canada introduced the 2010 Olympic Jersey. You may snicker, but they had to go through 5 designs before they could get it approved and come February there will be millions of us cheering on a bunch of guys skating around in them. Good luck les boys.

I watched some hilarious How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory last night. I love those shows. And I can honestly say that I have uttered the 5 words that Ted and Barney spoke in the episode… “We should buy a bar!” In fact, there was a time when there was even the start of a business plan and long term goals for the bar. Maybe someday those plans will come back.

Fingers crossed that the breeze that’s blowing through now stays for the rest of the day whether the rain comes or not.

I think that’s it for now mes amis. I’m going to try and write either on the Twitter or the MySpace or both today… we’ll see how it goes.

As per usual, if you're only checking in on this one day a week... See you next Tuesday.

Monday Morning Musings, Fastest Man Alive Edition

Good morning boys and girls.

In honour of Usain Bolt I’m going to try and write this post in 9.58 seconds. I know it won’t happen, but I’m going to try my best to pound it out quick.

How about the fastest man in the world… exactly one week to the day since he set the previous record at the Olympic games in Beijing he went out and bettered the record by .11 seconds. This guy looks unstoppable, and there’s a chance he is. I can’t wait until the next time he bests it because he’s probably going to run a sub 9.5 race.

Missed Entourage last night, but that’s okay because we’re going to have it downloaded here in the store before long. I saw some Chris Bosh tweets about the episode, but luckily he didn’t give anything away other than something about Johnny Drama being in trouble. I’m intrigued because the show has drawn me in. I’m sure I’ll have something to say about it after I see it.

Congratulations to Y.E. Yang! If you’ve never heard of this guy, you’re not alone. He’s a 37 year old South Korean who came into the weekend with 1 career PGA tour win. And on Sunday he did the unthinkable. Yesterday I even wrote that it would be a tall order for someone to knock off Tiger, and that he was 14 for 14 when leading after 3 rounds. And then Y.E. Yang came out yesterday and pulled off a golf miracle. I watched him chip in for an eagle on the back nine to take the lead and that was all she wrote. Sorry Tiger, maybe next year.

Had dinner with E-ve for the first time at the new apartment. We took the street car as far west as it would take us… which wasn’t far because of construction… and then had ourselves a little walk. Because we realized that I haven’t moved anything from the kitchen yet we had to buy paper plates and plastic cups and serviettes. And then we ended up with pretty good pizza, at a very good price. Old Man Pizza was a huge find. Less than $16 got us 2 medium pizzas with 3 toppings, 2 dipping sauces and 2 cans of pop. I don’t think there’s a better deal available. And if there is, I’ll be blogging about that too.

Just started a download of 2 Guys A Girl And A Pizza Place. I used to love that show when it was on TV, both with and without the pizza place. Ryan Reynolds was funny on TV long before he was huge in movies.

Only 2 sleeps left in the old apartment. Took the measuring tape to the new place yesterday to make a better plan of where everything will fit. I think that everything is going to fit alright, and there may be a little more comfortable living. We’ll see how it comes together when bigger things start getting loaded in.

Wag of the finger to Telus as text messages from their subscribers to me were delayed for hours yesterday.

Big thank you to E-ve for the jar of peach jam that is now in the new fridge at the new place. I can’t wait to get the toaster moved over so that it can be part of a well balanced breakfast.

I think that’s it for today folks. I have some internetting to do before we watch Entourage and then the rest of the day follows along as it always does.

Sunday Morning Musings, How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Edition

Good morning world.

Happy Sunday, and happy birthday to George Stroumboulopoulos. I’m a big fan of Strombo, and have been for a while. I especially appreciate the old Much Music days and also the more recent One Million Acts of Green campaign with CBC.

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Saturday night. I walked the streets for a while last night before meeting some friends at a birthday party for a couple Vodka and 7’s. There were some amazing sights to be seen…

-Chalk sign outside a bar: How do you solve a problem like Maria? Shooters!

-Door called “Baby Corner” and all I could think of was “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”

-High five and congratulations given to a woman wearing a sash that said “Bride to be”.

I also saw a whole lot of people. College St. is a busy place on Saturday nights.

Side note: My feet aren’t feeling so great after walking so much in flip flops. However, my knees are doing alright.

Ninja Turtles is on the computer here at work for the second day in a row. The problem with watching movies in a retail location is that you don’t always have a chance to finish them on the same day you start them.

Tiger Woods is leading the PGA Player’s Championship on day four… it’s going to be a tall order for anyone to knock him off. A graphic just popped up on the screen showing that Tiger is 14 for 14 when leading a major after the first 3 rounds.

Big hopes for relaxation to E-ve today as she enjoys a well deserved day off. Also, bon job with regards to the peach jam that is settling in mason jars as we speak.

Stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home from work yesterday to pick up some things for the new place. Ended up with a couple of towels and pillows and a Batman place mat that is sitting on the counter near the sink. I even had my first nap in the apartment, mostly by accident, on the nice, cool tile floor. The ceiling fan is going to be a big help with this place.

Side note: Michelangelo is still my favourite Ninja Turtle.

It’s a bright, sunny Sunday so far. The temperature is rising and the humidity is climbing with it. It could turn out to be a pretty gross day to be out and about… unless you like that sweaty summer sun feeling.

I think it’s time to check out for now. Have a great day and night.

Saturday Morning Musings, It's The Weekend Again Edition

Good day party people.

Happy Saturday.

I’ve got keys in my pocket for 2 apartments, I’ve got stuff in 2 apartments, and in 4 more sleeps I’ll be moving the bed to start sleeping in the new apartment.

Today is a work day. All business, with a bunch of play as well. We’ve been YouTubing music videos for hours already. New ones, old ones, good songs, classically bad songs… a whole lot of everything.

The Blue Jays had a nice win last night in Tampa Bay. Roy Halladay finally got a win against the Rays and both Lyle Overbay and Adam Lind went deep for home runs. For the first game since he was called up, Randy Ruiz did not hit a home run, but he is still hitting and might be making a case for a full time major league job next year. At 31 he’s been a career minor leaguer and really wants to stick this time around.

I’ve yet to make a decision on my new favourite Blue Jay… still thinking.

Not sure what’s for lunch today. My stomach is starting to tell me that it’s time to eat. But I really don’t know. Maybe a burger with cheese and bacon and fries and a drink and all kinds of good greasy stuff. That sounds like a good plan to me.

The sun is still shining in Toronto, which is nice. They say that we’re going to have 2 weeks to catch up on summer, so everybody better get busy.

Big love to E-ve, here’s hoping that her table are kind and tip well this afternoon.

We’ve started a download of the Ninja Turtles movie at the store. It’s a throwback and we know it. But we don’t care and embrace our geekiness.

There’s a new lay-out to www.hotpinkgeek.com take a look and see what you think. If you like it, let Bambi know. She was soliciting feedback on Twitter yesterday.

I hope that everyone gets some sun, has some fun and enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Later days.

Friday Morning Musings, Live From The New Apartment Edition

Good day fine people.

Happy Friday! I write today from a brand new location... My new apartment.

Again it is small. But it's clean, freshly painted, and the only thing I really have to do right away is rehang the bathroom door so that it will close.

I've started a list of things to do, but mostly the list just says move stuff.

Fantastic late lunch had by E-ve and I yesterday in Little Italy. The pasta was good, the Salmon was good, the sauce was good and the beer was good. (It wasn't Italian, but who cares) E-ve also had some tasty pasta with some huge shrimp and a nice tomato sauce. I'm sure her wine complimented it well.

I also had a lucky boy moment last night when E-ve suggested Indiana Jones when it came time for a movie. We settled in and watched Raiders of the Lost Ark and all was right with the world. What more could a guy ask for.

NFL news today as Michael Vick has signed a 1 year contract with the Eagles. Vick probably still has number 1 QB talent, but he's going to have to prove it again. And Philly is going to give him a chance as a back-up to do that.

I've decided I need a new favourite Blue Jay now that Alexis Rios is gone. I don't want to pick Roy Halladay because A. he may be traded this winter and B. he's already amazing and I cheer for him like he is my favourite. So far the list of potentials includes: Aaron Hill, Adam Lind, Travis Snider, Ricky Romero and wild card entry Edwin Encarnacion. Let me know who your favourites are and we'll see if that sways my decision.

Well, I had better get up off of the floor and get some work done. There's lots to do.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wednesday Morning Musings, So Busy Edition

Good morning all.

I hope that everyone has survived their week so far. Happy hump day.

I realise that I forgot to say see you next Tuesday when I was writing yesterday. I'm sorry. I put it on the Twitter feed but I know that not everyone is on Twitter yet.

Movie time this morning at work. Land of the Lost is the current feature. I'm hoping for some Justice League cartoons or Big Bang Theory latter on today.

Good luck to E-ve today at mini-putt! It's gonna be a blast! Have fun!

Business is picking up at the store these days, which is nice. It means more cash in the account for new stuff for the new place.

E-ve and I have been throwing around decorating ideas for the new apartment (which I take possession of Friday). So far I've been able to get a super hero door mat approved.

I know it's a short post so far but I haven't been able to even sit at a computer. I've been writing on my BB this morning.

So much going on in store and in my head right now that I'm going to sign off.

Check me on Twitter later for sure.

Tuesday Morning Musings, New Apartment Edition

Good day folks.

It’s a pins and needles morning. Waiting for one single phone call that can calm my nerves, and hoping that it comes in time for me to call E-ve to share the good news.

Last night I was too riled up to pack and nervous so I didn’t get any packing or sorting or cleaning done… but tonight, if things go the way we’re hoping, I’ll get to work. Scout’s Honour.

I’m conflicted when it comes to the topic of my beloved Blue Jays today. On the one hand, the boys were able to snap the Yankees’ 7 game winning streak. But on the other hand, JP Ricciardi is a freaking idiot. I don’t understand what his thought process or motivation is. We don’t have another right fielder in the system as far as I’m aware. And with all due respect to Joe Inglett and Jose Bautista, I don’t see the two of them flanking Vernon Wells as an outfield that will do much.

Side note: Jose Bautista has done an admirable job in left field when given the opportunity this season but I do think that Travis Snider and/ or Adam Lind in the outfield getting some playing time.

Side note: If I were to put next seasons line-up together right now, with holes left and question marks it probably looks something like this:

1st base: Adam Lind
2nd base: Aaron Hill
Shortstop: ?
3rd base: Edwin Encarnacion
Catcher: J.P. Arencibia /Rod Barajas
Left Field: Travis Snider
Centre Field: Vernon Wells
Right Field: ?

I’m not even going to try to get into the pitching staff… maybe I will later on MySpace.

Good luck to E-ve on another afternoon at the restaurant.

Shout outs to Romeo and Jake… here’s hoping that after the move there will be space for everyone to stay without needing a hotel. It will mean more spending money for touristy things and comic books.

The sun is out today and the only rain that is called for should come in the form of sun showers. I have my rain jacket just in case, but my fingers are crossed that I won’t need it.

Only 20 days til Mommy Z’s birthday. Last year I got her to help me move from Ottawa to Toronto, this year I’m hoping to be able to just visit her instead.

There’s a message on the voicemail right now from the guy I’ve been waiting to hear from. I’m nervous. I can’t lie.

And... I have a new apartment.

There’s lots of work to do right now in the store, so I gotta jet.

Monday Morning Musings, Application And Deposit Day Edition

Good day everyone.

Welcome to Monday. It’s hot, humid, muggy, sweaty, uncomfortable, gross, sticky, and generally unpleasant outside. Cp24 was predicting adjusted temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius today because of the humidity. The only hope we have is for the rain to come and break the humidity. It is supposed to come this afternoon, but there is no guarantee that it will do anything but get us all wet.

Big news as I am taking my apt application and a month’s rent worth of cash to the property manager today. It’s not a lock that I will have it yet, but it’s a step closer.

Big thanks to E-ve and the rest of the crew at the restaurant last night. I had good food, good service and a good time having dinner and a drink and dessert and a little but of milk shake. I was certainly full after I was all done. 2 pounds of wings, an order of fries, a warm brownie, a cheese cake mouse, a Caesar and 2 cups of coffee filled me to the top. Good times for sure.

The only downside was the crazy electrical storm that shorted out the satellite for a while. I was kinda trying to watch the Yankees vs. Red Sox, but stuff happens.

G.I. Joe is tops at the box office for the weekend. I’m not surprised by the $50 some odd million that it made in its debut, but I am waiting to see what happens now that reviews are out and the movie is getting panned. There are some people that are saying it’s too bad that Sienna Miller and Dennis Quaid were stuck in the film because of the way it turned out. I fully expected it to be a popcorn flick made for the summer blockbuster season.

I’ve been given a mission by Jake to read The Killing Joke. I will now be on the lookout to find a copy, hopefully soft cover, and after I have read it I will ask why I was given the mission.

I’ve added a bunch of pictures to the MySpace from a few baseball games at the Rogers Centre. There are some from the 200 level and also the 500 level. They aren’t the greatest, but you have to work with what you’ve got. And I’ve got a 2.0 megapixel camera on my BB.

I’ve drawn out a map of the new apt and am trying to find places to put everything. Do I separate it into 2 spaces, or one big one? Do I need the bunk beds? What furniture do I have space to bring from my mom’s basement? Holy jeez there are a lot of questions.

I think that today I may even have the motivation to start folding and sorting and packing and all of those other things that come with moving. This is a big deal, because I am a terrible procrastinator. I’m going to try not to get to a place where E-ve has to push me to do it all. Good luck to me!

I think that’s all for now. I hope that you all have a great day and start to the week.

Sunday Morning Musings, Hide And Seek With The Sun Edition

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages… welcome to Sunday.

This morning I left the apt and there was sun in the sky. I even regretted leaving my sunglasses at work accidentally because it would have been nice to have. However, when I was on the subway headed north and we came out of the tunnel approaching Rosedale station it was pouring rain. I had to hang my jacket on a frame in the store to drip dry. I took the huge umbrella that somebody forgot at the store to go to Tims and I’m still drying out in the pants are. Bah humbug to the rain.

E-ve watched Funny People on the interweb last night, and I got a text in the middle of the night saying that the title of the flick was misleading. At this point I’m waiting to hear back to see if it was still a good movie despite that fact. I hope it was.

I did a whole bunch of nothing last night. I had a headache through the afternoon and into the evening and ate a couple of McD’s snack wraps before passing out in a nap with the big light on. It was a lovely 2 hour nap on a Saturday night, and while it may point to the fact that I don’t lead the most exciting of lives, it works for me.

Big extra inning win for the Jays yesterday. Ok, not big in the sense that it does much for us in the standings, but we’ve been so bad in close games this year that it was nice to be on the winning side.

Lots of brainstorming has gone on in the last day or so with regards to moving to the new apt. Application has been filled out, money is ready and fingers are crossed. There have been ideas about the easiest way to move from one place to the next. We’ve come up with ideas for moving books and dvds and such with boxes and grocery bags. I’ve been on websites looking at futons that are pretty cool. One of them is a bunk bed with a double futon on the bottom and a single mattress on the top. It means that I can stay on the top bunk if Jake and Romeo come to visit and I can use it as a shelf for regular day to day use. I like the idea a lot.

The baseball game is on the TV and I’m hoping for another win from the home team on Tom Henke commemorative figurine day. It’s the kind of toy I wish I had to build toward a Jake-like lair some day.

Side note: E-ve is probably going to cringe when she reads that last paragraph.

It’s a short work day, so that’s always a plus. We’ve got business going on in the store right now which is going good for the numbers. And there’s a chance that I may be able to watch some Justice League cartoons later.

Signing off.

Saturday Morning Musings, All My Heroes Edition

Welcome to the weekend friends.

It’s been a musical start to the morning today. As per usual I woke up to my alarm which plays Lady Antebellum’s I Run To You and when I got to work I started the YouTubing of more music and videos. I started with Linkin Park and Jay-Z, the MTV stuff. I’ve never been a big rap guy and I’ve never been a Linkin Park guy at all, but when you put the two of them together I like the Jigga stuff even better, and it makes the LP stuff bearable.

After the MTV sessions I looked for some Paul McCartney stuff with Dave Grohl, I lurve Dave Grohl. He’s the greatest, if I was going to worship a rock star, it would be him. If I were going to be gay, it would be for him. If I were to grow my hair out, like all the way out, it would be because of him. He’s that awesome.

After that search I skipped forward to Taylor Swift, it’s a little bit of a stretch to get to her from Jay-Z and Dave Grohl, but if anyone can do it, I can. I played 4 Taylor Swift songs, and could have gone on forever… but I didn’t.

And most recently, bringing us to now, we’ve gone to the Kings Of Leon. Their hits, Sex On Fire and Use Somebody make me happy. It’s rock music that I can enjoy. I remember seeing them on SNL and knowing that they were going to be a band to like and watch. So far I have not been disappointed.

Last night was baseball night. E-ve and were up in the 500s with a pretty good view from the first row just to the first base side of home plate. As I usually do, I showed up early to watch batting practice and such. The JumboTron was fun to watch before the game because they were showing the clinching moments of the 1992 and 1993 World Series Teams. And before the national anthems I was lucky enough to see one of the coolest things in my baseball fan life. About 35 members of those teams, including head office and clubhouse staff were on the field and were introduced one at a time. Huge ovations went up for many of the former Jays including; Roberto Alomar, Joe Carter, Dave Winfield, Paul Molitar, John Olerud and Kelly Gruber. Two of the most special cheers were for long time Blue Jays announcer Jerry Howarth and the wife of former announcer Tom Cheek who passed away in 2005.

Those 2 men were a huge part of my childhood. I would leave the radio on the local AM station all summer long and listen to baseball games before it was time to go to bed. Their calls took me inside the park no matter where the team was. But this is really a story that should be told another day.

Side note: I cheered extra loud for a couple of favourites. Jimmy Key was always number 1 in my book and so was John Olerud. 2 left handed dudes that made the game look easy and inspired a left handed kid to play.

Side note: The Jays lost the friggin’ game after getting out to a good start with back to back home runs from Vernon Wells and Alex Rios in the second inning. But it wasn’t meant to be.

I added Vlingo to the BB last night and so far it works pretty well. I haven’t tried many of the features, but I have used it to update the Twitter feed. It’s pretty cool, I just press and hold a button, say “Twitter: Currently writing the muse” and then I get a screen to confirm my update and everything is ready to go. It was a free download from the BlackBerry App World, but it is just the lite version. I don’t have full voice to text with this one, but that would have just made me extra lazy.

At work today, it’s been a weird week as far as schedules go. Friday and Saturday off, Sunday on, Monday off for the Holiday, Tuesday on, Wednesday off, Thursday training, Friday off, Saturday and Sunday on. It hasn’t been good for my internal clock and scheduling. But it has been nice to not be at the store every day.

I started my new Batman this morning on the subway. I feel awesome in a dress shirt and black pants reading comics. I don’t know what it is, but I feel like a grown up and a little kid geek all at the same time.

Time to go for now… Have a great weekend everyone.

Friday Morning Musings, New Diggs? Edition

TGIF everyone!

Days off are awesome for a bunch of things. Laying in bed without getting dressed for a new day, watching movies that I would otherwise never watch, thinking about tonight's Jays game, writing to you guys, etc.

Side note: I'm watching Hot Rod... I can't believe I am, but it's true.

Other things that are awesome on days off that I'm not doing today include brunch, walks on nice days, patios, shopping, sleeping, fishing, reading comics, etc.

It's the 1992 and 1993 World Series reunion weekend for the Blue Jays and E-ve and I will be in the first row... Of the 500 level. I'll be there super early to walk around and see the sights and hopefully catch some batting practise. I know a couple weeks ago I said that the ball park is a place for kids, but it's also the place that makes me feel like a kid.

Speaking of feeling like a kid. We went to see Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince last night. The IMAX experience was awesome and the 3D stuff at the start of the flick was pretty cool. We were hoping for a little more of it, but it was good.

Fantastic news this morning from work as the old District Manager showed up with our bonus checks. It's a good chuck to go toward looking at new places.

Side note: Just called and booked an apartment viewing for this afternoon. Remind me to take my tape measure.

I was just distracted by X Games skateboarding for 15 solid minutes on TSN. I think that's a sign that I need to hang it up for today.

Peace and love everybody, happy Friday.

Thursday Morning Musings, Out Of Office Reply Edition

Good morning ladies and germs.

We're writing extra early this morning because it's another training day. Waiting for the bus now to take me to the Holiday Inn for a day where I will probably learn nothing.

Got a call yesterday while I was away from the manager. Offered 2 tickets for Friday's Blue Jays game to me. I think I'm going to have to take a peak at the tickets later today and see how lucky I am to have them.

A car just passed me with Keith Urban, country music star, playing loud enough for me to hear. It's kinda nice to hear because I was starting to think that I'm the only one in this city that listens to county music.

I woke up this morning smiling. And while I don't know if there was any one big reason, I do believe there were some contributing factors. So here's me giving my thanks to those factors.

X's and O's to E-ve. I hope that your finger is better today than yesterday and that your shift goes well.

Side note: Remember folks, no matter what city you're in, tip your servers.

Fell asleep last night with Justice League cartoons on the TV. That's never a bad way to fade away.

Boy did I stick out at the Go station yesterday when I got off of the train. Wally in funeral clothes and a bus load of Tool fans getting ready for a show at the Molson Amphitheatre. I think I was probably the only dude with a tie on.

Side note: I was lucky enough to see the ice cream truck when I got off of the train and enjoyed a vanilla/ chocolate twist cone in the sun. Doesn't matter what you're wearing, that's a good treat.

Well, the bus is getting me closer to my destination so I think we'll sign off here. I'll try to get Twitter updated a couple times during the dullness that is my day.

Wednesday Morning Musings, I'm A Lucky Guy Edition

Good morning all.

Writing today from the mobile. It's a day off of work after one day on.

Firstly, best wishes to E-ve and her index finger. Feel better. Xoxo.

Secondly, thank you to E-ve for being amazing. It's a very special person that never believes they deserve thanks for being special. Once again you have shown me how lucky I am. Thank you.

Sad loss for the Blue Jays last night as Roy Halladay got knocked for 3 solo home runs in the last 2 innings and ended up on the wrong side of a 5-3 loss. Offensive support was once again the issue as the Yankees were able to wiggle out of some jams without giving up the big hit that could have turned the game around.

Short weeks always end up leaving me confused, as do weeks with irregular days off from work. I knew today was the 5th, but I just looked at a digital screen to realize that it was Wednesday. Happy hump day friends.

Haven't had a coffee today, we'll see how that works out as the day goes on.

The sun is out and the weather people haven't mentioned the R word. It came hard in some places yesterday with tornado warnings in some parts of Ontario and hail falling as well. Thank goodness that's over.

Days like today make me reflective. I have a big (very big) loving family. I have great friends spread over a lot of the country. I have a great girl who makes my life much easier. I'm a lucky guy. Take a minute today maybe to sit down and think about your family and friends. I bet they're pretty great... Just maybe not as great as mine.

The NBA schedule has come out which means Raptors fans can start picking their games for the year. Thinking maybe we should pay the ACC a visit this season to see the boys in action.

I think that's it for today mes amis. I hope that you enjoy the day.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Back To Work Edition

Good morning folks.

All apologies for not getting anything hammered out yesterday. I was going to, honest. And then, as I was typing on the BB I got a super awesome surprise of E-ve at the door. I smiled big time.

We had a good Simcoe Day, enjoyed Boston Legal DVDs, pizza and chicken and late afternoon, Stat holiday napping.

I hope that everyone else out there enjoyed the day is you had the chance. It was a nice one here.

Sleep was the enemy last night. It fought me hard, it didn’t want to let me in. It kept me out for hours last night and when it finally let me in it was a jerk and wouldn’t play nice. This morning came way too quickly and if it wasn’t for coffee I’m not sure I’d be able to type right now.

I stopped at the book store on the way home from work Sunday to get a couple new Batman stories. I’ve already plowed through Batman and Son, and I have Batman: Haunted at home and ready to go. The big one on the shopping list right now is Superman/ Batman: Public Enemies. I want to give it a read before the animated feature comes out in September.

It threatens to be a long day. One of those ones where everything just takes forever and there’s nothing that you can do about it. We have no new entourage to watch at the store, so maybe a movie goes on later. I have some writing that I’d love to do, but I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to get it going.

Fingers crossed for E-ve as she heads in for an afternoon at the restaurant. If she’s serving you, treat her right. She does a good job of making sure that her tables are taken care of, just like me.

There are rumours that Toronto is going to be hit with a thunder storm later today. I brought the rain coat to be prepared, but there is a chance that it will hit and be gone by the time we close shop at 7. A guy can hope.

There was a cheerful mood in the air this morning when I left the apartment. It’s garbage day for the first time in weeks here in the big smoke. The trucks are moving, the workers are working and the people are putting out all the garbage that they have. There is no bag limit this week and next, so it’s a perfect time to do some extra cleaning if you have some to do. No pressure, just saying.

I think that’s it for today. I hope that everyone enjoys their day… and as always, if you only have the chance to visit once a week, see you next Tuesday.

Sunday Morning Musings, Argo Recap Edition

Good day to all of you.

It’s Sunday, the sun is out (for now) there’s breakfast in my tummy (thanks to Jake and the Mrs. for meeting me) and the work day is short (yay!)

It was nice to see Jake this morning at the Golden Griddle. The eggs and home fries were good, the toast and sausages were okay, and the company was top notch. I rarely eat in the morning, but this was a special occasion. I don’t get to see them often and chances that we get need to be taken.

The day of work has been nothing but boring so far. A third cup of coffee has been finished, no real customers have been in the store, YouTube has supplied us with music and I’ve banged out the first 1000 words of what could end up being my Zombie epic. Updates to follow.

The weekend was awesome. Big thanks to E-ve, Julia, her parents, Daddy Z and everyone else that made it happen.

The birthday party was good fun on Friday night. There was much beer (almost too much perhaps) good conversation and company, and only a few randoms to keep us from really having the time of our lives. There were even hidden shish kabobs in the fridge in the garage that turned into snack food.

Yesterday was football day at the Rogers Centre. The Argos hosted the Winnipeg Bluebombers in an afternoon affair. The double blue had all kinds of chances to take the game over and drive the bad guys into the turf… the only problem was that nobody could hold on to the football. We watched the Argos turn the ball over 7 times. 4 interceptions thrown by former Most Ouststanding Player Kerry Joseph and 3 fumbles. It was ugly. And even after all of that we still had a chance to win. A 47 yard field goal was available with less than a minute on the clock and the kicker drilled it. However, a time clock infraction was called and a 10 yard penalty given. The last chance kick turned into a 57 yarder and they tried again. The kick was up, the crowd was cheering and it had the distance… but it also had the left upright and bounced out. The kick was no good and the Bombers stole a victory away from the home team.

Carabana was also this weekend in Toronto which meant huge crowds, busy traffic, a big parade, and an almost impossible trip home for E-ve last night. I hope that everyone that participated or went to watch and enjoy the festivities had a great time.

Tomorrow is a holiday, so I get a day off. It’s not a traditional long weekend because I’m working today. But 2 days off, 1 day on, 1 day off isn’t a bad set-up.

I’m trying hard to keep the fingers moving on the keyboard so that the writer’s block doesn’t have a chance to set in. I really don’t like it when that happens.

Condolences go out to old friends as they lost a great member of their family yesterday. He was a great guy and always good for a conversation, or watching a ball game, of drinking a tall boy of Old Milwaukee. He’ll be missed.

I think that’s all for today. I’m not sure what else to write about, and the story is starting to become the owner of my thoughts.

Later days.

Like wham!
