Sunday Morning Musings, Argo Recap Edition

Good day to all of you.

It’s Sunday, the sun is out (for now) there’s breakfast in my tummy (thanks to Jake and the Mrs. for meeting me) and the work day is short (yay!)

It was nice to see Jake this morning at the Golden Griddle. The eggs and home fries were good, the toast and sausages were okay, and the company was top notch. I rarely eat in the morning, but this was a special occasion. I don’t get to see them often and chances that we get need to be taken.

The day of work has been nothing but boring so far. A third cup of coffee has been finished, no real customers have been in the store, YouTube has supplied us with music and I’ve banged out the first 1000 words of what could end up being my Zombie epic. Updates to follow.

The weekend was awesome. Big thanks to E-ve, Julia, her parents, Daddy Z and everyone else that made it happen.

The birthday party was good fun on Friday night. There was much beer (almost too much perhaps) good conversation and company, and only a few randoms to keep us from really having the time of our lives. There were even hidden shish kabobs in the fridge in the garage that turned into snack food.

Yesterday was football day at the Rogers Centre. The Argos hosted the Winnipeg Bluebombers in an afternoon affair. The double blue had all kinds of chances to take the game over and drive the bad guys into the turf… the only problem was that nobody could hold on to the football. We watched the Argos turn the ball over 7 times. 4 interceptions thrown by former Most Ouststanding Player Kerry Joseph and 3 fumbles. It was ugly. And even after all of that we still had a chance to win. A 47 yard field goal was available with less than a minute on the clock and the kicker drilled it. However, a time clock infraction was called and a 10 yard penalty given. The last chance kick turned into a 57 yarder and they tried again. The kick was up, the crowd was cheering and it had the distance… but it also had the left upright and bounced out. The kick was no good and the Bombers stole a victory away from the home team.

Carabana was also this weekend in Toronto which meant huge crowds, busy traffic, a big parade, and an almost impossible trip home for E-ve last night. I hope that everyone that participated or went to watch and enjoy the festivities had a great time.

Tomorrow is a holiday, so I get a day off. It’s not a traditional long weekend because I’m working today. But 2 days off, 1 day on, 1 day off isn’t a bad set-up.

I’m trying hard to keep the fingers moving on the keyboard so that the writer’s block doesn’t have a chance to set in. I really don’t like it when that happens.

Condolences go out to old friends as they lost a great member of their family yesterday. He was a great guy and always good for a conversation, or watching a ball game, of drinking a tall boy of Old Milwaukee. He’ll be missed.

I think that’s all for today. I’m not sure what else to write about, and the story is starting to become the owner of my thoughts.

Later days.

Like wham!
