Saturday Morning Musings, Get You Some Candy Edition

Good morning friends, family, foes and others.

Happy Hallowe’en! It’s the most wonderful day of the year that doesn’t have people giving me presents.

If you are out to lunch in the Scarborough area today and a cute construction worker pulls her note pad out of her tool belt, say hi. And then tip big.

I was able to get a yes vote from the boss as far as dressing up today, so here I am, rocking out in my rock and roll wear. Lanyard with concert creds, 2 silver rings on my right hand, leather wrist cuff, Batman belt buckle, scarf, old jeans, shiny black shoes, etc.

I’ve also had some good old fashioned rock and roll playing on the YouTube so far. And by that I mean I had to hear Rick Springfield sing Jessie’s Girl after seeing him on Ellen yesterday and then it suggested Journey, so here I am singing along to Don’t Stop Believin’.

Speaking of Ellen… I did get to watch the Hallowe’en special with Kellie Pickler and Rick Springfield and the science dude that she had on. And Kellie Pickler just keeps becoming more of a favourite every time I see her on the show being hilarious. In fact, I’m now listening to Pickler tracks instead of rock and roll.

Terrible sports watching night for me on Friday as the Habs and Raps both dropped games that I really wanted to see them win. The Raptors especially laid an egg in Memphis where they should have been able to hold on for a big road win. But no. There’s still a lot of work to be done for Jay Triano and the gang.

Store’s open folks, come on in, I’ve got chocolate.

Don't forget to turn the clocks back tonight... there's my psa for today.

I hope that everyone has a great costume for themselves, the kids, the mannequins, and grandma… but not the dog. Come on people. Let’s get serious. Thank you.

Have a great Hallowe’en friends. Remember to check the candy when the kids get home to make sure that you get the good stuff.

Friday Morning Musings, Day Off 2 Edition

Good morning folks.

I hope that everyone has made it in good health to Friday.

Tip E-ve well if she serves you your lunch. She's sure to bring a smile with it.

Tensions are high and lines are long at clinics giving out the H1N1 vaccine. Please remember that everyone in line is there for the same reason that you are and the health care professionals are doing their best to get everyone taken care of.

If you're going to be out and about this afternoon and this evening your probably going to want to bring your umbrella. It's not such a bad day out there right now, but it's supposed to change.

I have an itching to go and spend money on books. But the budget isn't calling for that right now.

God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. Truer words may never have been sung. Thank goodness for country music.

Was awesome to see Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw on Ellen yesterday. And today on the Hallowe'en Special it's Kellie Pickler. The Pickler is hilarious, if you have a chance to watch the show today I'd recommend it.

Thanks again to everyone for their best wishes to E-ve's mum. She is doing well and we hope for her to be home soon.

I've gotta get me a little lap top.

The mall is an amazing place to do some people watching. In fact, I'd rather people watch than window shop if there's no money to be spent.

Eff the Yankees and their win last night. Pedro Martinez wasn't perfect, and he might not have been as good as AJ Burnett was last night. But he's still one of the greatest of all time and probably the greatest pitcher of my generation.

Today feels like a day with a lot of words in it. We'll have to see how that plays out.

And tomorrow is Hallowe'en. I hope you are all ready, the kids are ready, and the whole gang has a blast. Remember all the safety stuff that we've all been taught and make it a night to remember.

I think that's all for now.

Have a great weekend.

Thursday Morning Musings, Time To Eat Edition

Good morning y'all.

It's a mobile morning muse on a day off. Lucky me!

High fives and best wishes to E-ve on her mid-term today. She's a smart cookie I'm sure it's going to go well.

And high fives to Mommy Z. Like E-ve, she's been running herself ragged with work and extra work. Helping out with my grand-dad has been Mommy Z's biggest add on. Good news is that grand-dad is coming home Friday (on his anniversary) so it should be easier for everyone to stop by and help out.

The sports run down from last night goes like this:

-Yankees lose game 1 of the World Series to the Phillies.

-Habs lose to the Penguins who become the 1st team to get to 10 wins this season. Sid the Kid rocked a hat trick against Jaroslav Halak in the first 2 periods and Carey Price finally saw some ice when he was brought in for the 3rd.

-The Colorado Avalanche came back to beat the Calgary Flames and are the 2nd team to reach 10 wins and the biggest surprise in the NHL.

-The Toronto Raptors won their season and home opener versus the Cavaliers. Shaq and Jebron James just couldn't beat Bosh, Bargnani and the rest of the Dinos. I love this game.

Fastest city inspection ever just happened at my apt.
Them: "City of Toronto inspection, everything good in the unit?"
Me: "Yup. Heat works and it's a good time of year for that."
Them: "Thank you my friend. Have a good day."
Me: "You too guys."
Fin

I'm thinking about doing a whole whack of cooking today. But then I run the risk of having more food cooked than I can eat. Hmm that's a dilly of a pickle.

Here's hoping that you all have a great Thursday, and in case I don't get back tomorrow, a great Friday too.

Wednesday Morning Musings, We Did It Edition

Hola amigos.

We did it. Made it to Wednesday, day 6. And now I get to have my weekday weekend starting tomorrow.

We're still looking for all best wishes and positive thoughts for E-ve's mum. Thanks to Jake, @joshua_ and all of our friends for their continued support.

And get well soon to @joshua_ while we're at it.

I was scandalized this morning when I walked past Le Chateau and saw all of the mannequins naked in the window. And these aren't your parents mannequins folks, these are nipples and curves and holy smokes. Show some decency Le Chateau.

It feels like it could be a day with a lot of 3rd Rock From The Sun on the computer. Season 1 is here and ready to go. In fact, we cracked into it yesterday.

Get ready baseball fans. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys are getting ready to play on the field and then it's time for the first pitch of the World Series tonight.

If you're going to see E-ve for lunch today please smile big and tip well. She'll tell of your greatness to everyone after.

I think Hallowe'en costumes have been figured out. I'm gonna leave you guessing though.

I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. So there.

Time to wrap it up. Have a goodie friends.

Tuesday Morning Musings, All Over The Place Edition

Hello and good morning to you friends.

I hope that everyone is awake and well.

Big love to E-ve for being amazing. Best wishes continue to go out to her and her family.

Thank you to @joshua_ on the Twitter feed for thoughts and prayers. He’s a pretty good kid.

Metallica played Toronto last night and the fans were easy to spot as they made their way home after the show. I hope that everyone had a good time. Reviews in the form of status updates have been good so far.

My morning coffee is getting a lot of credit for my being awake and mobile this morning.

The World Series and Toronto Raptors regular season both start tomorrow night. What’s a boy to do?

I love my sports, but I kinda miss having the movie channels, but I can’t afford both. Oh well. That’s just me being a big baby.

The Maple Leafs won their first game of the season last night against the Ducks. It was a huge win for the program and a huge win for the fans that have been waiting as patiently as possible.

It was also a winning night for the Montreal Canadiens who beat the Islanders in overtime. It was the 4 straight win for the team and goaltender Jaroslav Halak who is fast becoming praised in the MTL. But in my humble opinion it is time for Carey Price to get back in the crease.

All of my thoughts are away from the store today.

Because of that I’m having a little trouble thinking of things to write.

I’ll end with the norm. If you’re only here this one day a week, we’ll see you next Tuesday.

Monday Morning Musings, Put Your Cell Phone Down Edition

Good day to you webheads out there.

I hope that everyone has made it to Monday safe and sound.

Big hopes to E-ve for good luck all day long as there are a ton of things going on including a trip to the passport office.

Crappy night in sports for me last night as the damned Yankees beat the Angels to go through to the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

I picked up some valuable points in the hockey pool as well even though there were only 3 games played.

It’s another lovely day here in the big smoke. I’m a little concerned. We all got used to such bad weather that I think I’m preparing for what’s to come instead of enjoying what’s here.

It is day one of the Bluetooth/ handsfree device law in Ontario meaning that nobody should have their cell phone against their ear while they are driving. The fine is $500 and while police have said that there will be a 3 month grace and education period they can still make the decision to write tickets.

It is also day one of the H1N1 flu vaccine being available in Canada. Front line medical and emergency workers have been tagged as the first to be given the shot in Toronto. Call your local hospital or clinic for info on when you and your family are eligible to receive the shot if you are interested.

High fives to everyone, no matter who you are, high fives to you today.

I think that’s all for now. Have a goodie.

Sunday Morning Musings, The Moffatts Are Here Edition

Good Sunday morning friends on the interweb.

First, a huge shout out to E-ve who may be the strongest and most remarkable person that I know. Best wishes go out for a better day as the minutes and hours go by.

The morning has started with cheesy Canadian 90’s pop on YouTube. It’s what weekends are for. Right now it’s Sky, Soul Decision is coming up next and there may be appearances made by McMaster and James, Wave and the Moffatts. But I can promise you that there won’t be any music by Len while I’m controlling the key board and mouse.

Great comeback win last night by the Montreal Canadiens against the New York Rangers. It was nice to see the effort and heart that it’s going to take to win a lot of games this year and get back to the glory that Habs fans deserve.

In Ontario the Maple Leaf Nation is sad about another loss, but the team actually played its best game of the season so far. The only thing that stopped them from picking up 2 points and a win was Roberto Luongo in goal for the Canucks. If the Leafs continue to show the stick-to-it attitude they displayed last night the fans in Toronto will have a team worth cheering for no matter what the score at the end of the game may be.

It’s a sunny and pretty beautiful day here in the big smoke so far. No rain is in the forecast and only a small patch of clouds showed up on the radar when I checked with cp24 this morning. Here’s hoping that it’s nice like this where ever you may be.

Quick Fire time.

-Toronto FC has been eliminated from the MLS play-off race after an embarrassing 5-0 loss last night in New York.

-Rumour has it that Toronto is home to thousands of illegal spas that are selling sex day and night.

-The seal hunt argument is heating up again as Pamela Anderson has come home to fight for her cause. She’s now said that she is ashamed of Canada for its practices.

-The H1N1 vaccine is supposed to be ready for the initial list of eligible citizens tomorrow. Stay tuned to the news or call your local health care facility for more details.

-Only 6 sleeps left until Hallowe’en folks. Make sure you ask your boss if you can dress up at work and figure out where the heck you’re going to be. Remember people, Hallowe’en is not just for kids.

I think that’s it for now friends. There’s plenty of football to be watched and there might be some work to be done.

Saturday Morning Musings, Songs Make The World Go Round Edition

Allo my friends.

It’s a grey, almost warm, misty morning and I’m okay with that because it could be a whole lot worse.

I am becoming a huge Lady Antebellum fan as time goes by. There harmonies are ridiculous, the singles are fun, sad, sweet, slow, fast, and most of all good. They are providing everything that I’m looking for in music. And the fact that they’re good looking doesn’t hurt.

High fives and high hopes for a good lunch shift for E-ve today. I hope the let up in rain means that a few more people will decide to go out and get some tasty eats and leave handsome tips.

The coffee is hot, the YouTube is running, the keys are clicking and it’s most definitely Saturday. The only thing that’s really missing, that I could really go for, no matter how you may judge me, is the Family Channel and its weekend morning line-up. With the exceptions of ‘That’s So Raven’ and ‘Cory in the House’. Hit me with some ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ or ‘Phil of the Future’ or even ‘Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide’ and I’m a happy dude.

I love being able to rock my Batman belt buckle at work.

I’m sending a request to Ottawa to have Jake and Romeo exchange hugs from me. I think it’s a great idea. Make it happen les boys.

I can’t decide on the reason the number 1 reason that I dislike Ottawa Senator’s forward Mike Fisher. Is it because he plays for the Sens and I’m a Habs fan? Or is it because he’s dating Carrie Underwood? Who knows I guess.

Yesterday wasn’t as amazing for food as Thursday was. But dinner was pretty alright. I boiled up some pasta using some Garlic Salt to season the water. And as my water was rolling I sautéed some red onion, red bell pepper and Kielbasa in a little bit of oil. After the pasta was drained and set to the side I cracked open a can of Chunky Corn Chicken Chowder and brought it to a nice simmer with lots of black pepper and salt. Everything got mixed well together in the pot, spread into the casserole dish and shredded some glorious cheese on top and took a picture. That’s right I did. Good dinner.

I am absolutely in love with the cover version of Life in a Northern Town that Sugarland, Little Big Town and Jake Owens put together. It gives me chills to hear the 7 singers do such a good job on a song that is no doubt a classic.

The store’s open folks. Come on down.

I think it’s time to do some work and watch some more YouTube. Have a great day ladies and gents.

Friday Morning Musings, Back In Action Edition

Welcome to your Friday.

It's a cold, windy, rainy morning my friends. Not the kind of day that you want to schedule a walk in the park for. Bundle up, stay dry and entertain yourself.

Big high fives to E-ve for the loan of her umbrella. It may just save the day.

Speaking of entertainment. Last night was one of the best nights in sports that I've been able to witness in a long time.

First I got to see the Montreal Canadiens score a big win. And then I got to see the Angels get a much needed, backs against the wall kind of win in LA. What a night.

No plans for this weekend. Other than working of course. There's a huge 15 game hockey schedule Saturday night and game 6 of the ALCS goes as well as long as the rain holds off. Fingers crossed.

We are only 8 days away from Hallowe'en, and I'm almost sure that I'm gonna wimp out and do the same old thing, the only questions remain in the details. And, if I'll be dressed up at work.

Food yesterday was amazing as I had bacon, chicken, onions, peppers, peanut butter, banana, cereal, ham, cheese, bread, etc. Not all at once mind you, but through out the day in 4 meals of sorts.

Today it's coffee and staying warm. I hope you can all do the same thing.

TGIF my friends.

Wednesday Morning Musings, High Fives All Around Edition

Good morning everybody.

It's a day off morning so I have accomplished next to nothing.

I am dressed, had a wagon wheel and a banana for breakfast and rocked NHL on the Fly and Rachael Ray on the TV.

Meeting E-ve at the mall to do some hanging out. Good times ahead.

Those gd Yankees won big time last night in LA meaning that my hopes of baseball being played in California this fall are taking a beating. Get you winter coats and ponchos ready baseball fans. It's gonna be an East Coast World Series.

On the other hand, mes Canadiens finally won their 3rd game of the year last night against Atlanta. It wasn't the regulation 2 points I was hoping for, but a shoot-out win is still a win and 2 points in the standings.

Those orange pots and pans that R. Ray uses are both hideous and amazing. Discuss your opinion of Ms. Ray amongst yourselves. I think she's awesome.

I have a jonesing for a low to the ground, plush arm chair. I just don't know if there's room for one in the apt.

Other pieces needed/ wanted: Floor lamp, 18 inch wide 4 to 6 foot tall book shelf, etc.

We are only 1 week away from the Toronto Raptors home opener!

The dude at the convenience store sparked up a conversation about Batman last night. We briefly talked about Adam West's incarnation and going all the way to Christian Bale and The Dark Knight. But even in our short talk we managed to agree that Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were ridiculous. These opinions know no borders or cultural difference.

Time to pop out for today. I'll be back.

Tuesday Morning Musings, En Francais Edition

Hey hey friends and fam.

Welcome to your Tuesday.

Great day at school wishes to E-ve.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for a big win tonight for the Canadiens at home against the Atlanta Thrashers. We need it, this losing thing isn’t fun at all. #gohabsgo

The temperature has been a whole lot better here in Toronto over the last couple of days with today’s forecast calling for 13 degrees Celsius during the day and evening and even 9 degrees tonight. I like it.

After watching last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother I very much agree with E-ve’s sentiment with regards to The Hosser Hut. I want to go to there.

This working for a living thing is a pain in my rear end.

My hockey pool picks aren’t panning out too well this week. Here’s hoping that the rest of the week is a whole lot more productive.

Congratulations to all the Gemini Award winners for excellence in Canadian Television.

I have a hankering to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. I think I’ll put it on my list of things to do. I wanna do the play calling and target sniping and goalie playing and plaque staring for a day. It’s one of those places that can make me feel like a happy little kid.

Those gosh darn Philadelphia Phillies won again last night against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Don’t they understand that it’s better for everyone if they just lose so that baseball can be played in the sun? I mean, when I was a kid we played baseball of some sort until it was too cold or too snowy or both to be able to do it anymore… but it didn’t mean that the baseball was good. When it’s cold you can’t grip the ball right, throw the ball as well, hit the ball as hard or put on as good of a show.

In the last 2 weeks or so there has been all kinds of French rolling around in my brain. I think it started when my cousin asked what I thought about her putting her little guy in French Immersion classes, but now I’m finding myself thinking in French, text messaging in French, hearing more French around me, French customers are coming in the store… it’s like the whole language is expanding around me. Maybe it’s time I watch a few Canadiens games en francais on RDS.

Here’s to you my friends, keep on smiling and fighting the good fight.

And, as always, if you’re only here this one day a week… See you next Tuesday.

Monday Morning Musings, More Coffee Needed Edition

Good morning y’all.

I hope that everyone’s alarm went off when it was supposed to and such.

First today and most important are best wishes and love being sent to E-ve and her family. Your loss is shared by all of us who love you.

Tasty Swiss Chalet take-out for dinner last night. And the left over cranberries were a great pairing with the chicken and potatoes and veggies.

High fives to everyone on the Twitter feed. I know that I haven’t been updating much lately. Sorry about that, I’ve some other irons in the fire.

I love baseball, a lot, but even I can’t believe that the World Series could take until the 5th of November to finish if it goes to a game 7… that’s just crazy. Especially if we get a New York versus Philadelphia final. The weather in both of those cities sucks for baseball already.

Trying to reschedule a dinner and hangout night with Julia and Heath and E-ve and myself. Here’s hoping that we can make it happen.

Today I am going to check out that Globe and Mail contest thing for the Olympics.

The construction looks like it almost complete on this stretch of Yonge St. It’s about friggin’ time.

Got an email from Daddy Z yesterday inviting us to Christmas in late November.

We are only 9 days away from tip-off to the 2009-2010 Raptors season. Hopes are tentatively high for this new bunch of Raps, Toronto wants a winner.

I think that’s all for today. I hope that everyone rocks Monday like it’s the party they’ve been waiting for.

Sunday Morning Musings, On The Way Out The Door Edition

Good morning webheads.

Quick fire before work because I've got other things to do today.

I hate Derek Jeter. And his home run early in the game last night helped the Yankees hold on until the 13th inning when they finally beat the Angels.

I still love mes Habitants. If you wonder why I say this take a look at what happened in the NHL last night. Even after a loss though I'll keep on cheering. #gohabsgo

Big shout outs to E-ve on a day off. Enjoy it with naps and books and movies and TV and whatever works.

The Globe and Mail is having a contest for amateur sports journalists that will send someone to cover Vancouver 2010. Remind me to check that out.

Big marathon here in Toronto this morning. If you're not participating but are out and about remember that your routes may need to be changed.

Big love to the home town. They've been given the heads up to clean up a mess that should have been handled a long time ago.

I heart sports.

Short edition today. Hope you all have a great Sunday. The sun looks like it wants to shine.

Saturday Morning Musings, Doug Mientkiewicz Is Back Edition

Good morning all.

I hope that everyone has made it this far with a smile on their face.

For those of us north of the border it’s been a short work week for most, and that’s always welcome.

High fives to E-ve for being a good friend and co-worker and taking last night’s shift so that someone else could go out and enjoy a night on the town.

I’m rocking the tea from Tim’s this morning instead of the usual coffee in an attempt to fight off the sick that has been threatening me. Jerk that it is.

Had to give in and turn up the heat in the apartment this morning, I was smart and turned it down a touch while I’m at work, but if it stays chilly like this I’ll be turning in back up again when I get home.

Enviro tip for the day: When you aren’t home keep the heat turned down a few degrees, especially those like me rocking electric heat… it’s for a good cause.

Disappointed last night by the play of the Los Angeles Angels in New York. I hope that they figure out how to take advantage of the way they play the game. I really don’t need to see Derek Jeter win another World Series.

Apparently roller derby is making a pop culture comeback thanks to Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page. Barrymore’s flick Whip It features the alt-pop world and is pretty good from what I hear. I’m all for it ladies, just be careful and wear pads. Thanks.

Also, I can’t find complete conformation, but it looks like former Red Sox first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz is part of the cast in Drew’s directorial debut. Who says there’s no life after baseball.

Just got confirmation from my co-worker that chicks that dig dudes dig deep voices.

Here’s hoping that everything goes smoothly for E-ve at work again today.

Have a great day y’all, keep on truckin’.

Friday Morning Musings, Why Am I At Work Edition

Allo allo mes amis.

High five to E-ve for sending best wishes to me as I'm not feeling so hot.

Let me be clear though, just because I don't feel all that hot doesn't mean I don't look good.

Super weird getting up to come to work on a Friday morning.

The fridge is cleaned out, the cupboards are stocked and the dishes are done. Now I just have to try not to be lazy.

Sad faces as mes Habitants dropped their home opener to the Avs.

It's shaping up to be a slow day at work. October isn't a great month to do what I do.

I could really go for some beer, chicken wings and pizza.

Have a great weekend folks. I hope that you all enjoy what ever comes to be.

Tuesday Morning Musings, I Heart Left Overs

Good morning folks.

I hope that everyone has now had their fill of turkey dinner or ham or whatever you and yours may have enjoyed.

As for me… there are left overs in the fridge that will get turned into everything from sandwiches to casseroles.

Huge thanks to E-ve for the pies and company and everything yesterday.

Stopped in to see my grandpa at the hospital yesterday. It wasn’t super pleasant, but it was good to see him. All we want now is for him to get better.

Plan of attack for tomorrow is some apartment cleaning and relaxing. Bottles, cans, wrappers, dishes, cooking, writing, TV watching, movies, comics, the whole 9 yards.

The League Championship Series match-ups are now set. The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League and the New York Yankees will play the Los Angeles Angels in the American League. A few years ago there was a “Subway Series” between the Yankees and Mets in New York. Major League Baseball was happy to have the Yankees in the World Series because they are a draw, and for that matter, so are the Mets to some extent. The only problem is that they were concerned that the rest of the country wasn’t going to care. I wonder how they feel about the chance that we will have a “Freeway Series” in LA this year.

At least they won’t get snowed out in LA I guess.

At home in the fridge I have turkey, potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberries, bread and pie. I’m wondering what the tastiest and most efficient way to use these ingredients and other cheap ones would be.

Since today is a slow day in the making there is a strong chance of much TV and movie time on the computer here. No problem with that at all.

Big love to E-ve. I hope that classes are awesome today.

And big best wishes to Mrs. E-ve’s mom who has been a little under the weather.

I think we’ll end it here for the day. Lots to do of course. And if this is the only day that you are stopping in this week, we’ll see you next Tuesday.

Sunday Morning Musings, Giving Thanks Edition

Good morning ladies and gents.

I hope this chilly... Scratch that, cold morning is treating you well.

If you've already enjoyed your weekend, welcome back to work.

If you're lucky like me and have a Stat Holiday to enjoy, awesome for us.

High fives to E-ve for making the time to come with me today.

Headed out to Mommy Z's for dinner and to visit with the fam for the day. Excited.

Also going to stop in to see my grandpa, hope he's feeling a little better.

Happy 1 day early birthday to Mrs. Jake. Just in case it slips my mind tomorrow.

1 degree Celsius in Toronto right now. You better believe I'll have my scarf on when I head out to catch the train.

Crushing.

Back to work tomorrow and then 2 days off for a mid-week weekend.

Hearing a clip of the new MJ single. Very bittersweet.

I have lots to give thanks for this holiday season. Friends, family, E-ve, my job, my apartment, my freedom, my faith, hope, etc.

I think we'll end on that thankful note today.

Sunday Morning Musings, There's Always Tomorrow

Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Canucks.

I hope that everyone is doing their pre-turkey stretches. Don’t laugh, you’ll thank me later.

I’m trying to decompress at the moment. It’s a high stress morning. I have a feeling that there will be need for much coffee and cigarettes before the day is done.

On a related note, don’t try to call or text. Technical difficulties we’ll call it.

I’m rocking the country music so far this morning. To you it may sound counter productive if I need a pick me up… but it’s what works.

Sad that the Habs dropped another one out west. Balls.

I am excited to get some dinner and quality time with the fam tomorrow. Huge high fives to E-ve for taking on the role of pie mistress.

Today is National Coming Out Day, and to celebrate I am sending out huge hugs and kisses to all of my friends and family that have or will come out.

Today’s playlist so far: Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Jake Owens, etc.

Cracked open the cover of my newly purchased copy the Clerks and Chasing Amy screenplays. It’s a pretty cool thing to read and visualize. Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime.

Thank goodness for NFL football today.

I love a good harmony.

I think that’s all for today. Wish me luck, I wish you love.

Saturday Morning Musings, Short But Sweet Edition

Welcome to Saturday lads and lasses.

I hope that everyone is ready for Thanksgiving up here in the lovely and gorgeous Canadian wild.

It’s a chilly morning here in Toronto. One of those ones that you’d much rather stay under the blankets and sheets than get up to leave for work. And still, I got up and left anyway.

Rocked the double feature and date day yesterday with E-ve. We got to start much earlier than we anticipated and had a great time.

It’s a music morning in the store so far. I’m here alone before open rocking the YouTube and trying to think of all the music that I want to listen to.

I heart my new scarf.

E-ve has to work tonight so I can see myself loving the fact that I now have the Super Sports Pack from Rogers so I can watch as many hockey games as I want all at once.

Big first win of the pre-season for the Toronto Raptors last night. Chris Bosh took to the floor for the first time this year.

Falling more in love with Snaptu on my BB every time I use it.

These new chairs at work are pretty fantastic.

Go Angels Go… if the Twins can’t knock off the Yankees at least we won’t have to watch the Yankees and Red Sox this year.

High fives to the Twitter gang. Thanks for coming out.

I think that’s all for now. Lots to get accomplished today.

Friday Morning Musings, Date Day Edition

Good morning friends.

It's a wet, grey, rainy day so far with more of the same in the forecast. Sad faces.

The good news though is that I've already been able to share part 1 of my date with E-ve and part 2 is coming up in a couple short hours.

More happy news in that we will be able to both go and visit Mommy Z for Thanksgiving on Monday.

High fives to Jake for a great visit.

It's a small world after all as I ran into my high school valedictorian yesterday while Jake and I were in our way home from shopping.

Found the first 3 comic books that I am going to frame for the walls of the apartment. I will have Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman on the walls from Trinity issues #1, 2 and 3. Hot!

Refrained from buying the Superman and Spiderman peel and stick borders which would have worked in the bathroom.

Tim Horton's coffee now while E-ve works and I pick away at a new pet project.

Get well soon card purchased and scribbled in for Grandpa. Hopeful to see him Monday but not sure if we will.

Pay day has come. A relief and disappointment as hopes are always that it will be more than it is.

Don't let me forget to take tupperware to the turkey dinner.

I've got a weird tingle in the back of my neck... Right where my tattoo sits. Weird.

I think we'll end on that unusual note. Back to work tomorrow to make the hockey pool picks and earn some money.

Thursday Morning Musings, Quick Fire Breakfast Order Edition

Good morning breakfast eaters.

Quick fire breakfast musings this morning.

Eggs and sausage and bacon and veggies and hash browns and toast on the way. The steak and eggs just didn't look that hot.

Big high fives to E-ve as she gets ready for a long and busy day of school and work. May your travel mug remain full and a smile remain on your face.

Excited for date day with E-ve tomorrow. So much planned. I hope we can fit it all in.

Shopping all over the city with Jkae today. He has his list and he'll no doubt be checking it twice.

Embarrassed by the effort of the Montreal Canadiens last night in Vancouver. Sad faces.

Heath is hobbling around on crutches. I'm gonna have to take care of him more carefully.

I'm a little bit Sheldon-y today with the long sleeve t and silly t-shirt over top.

Speaking of which... I may have to pick up a cheap superhero shirt or 2 if I find them today.

Also on the lookout for E-ve presents whenever possible.

Gerry Dee is a funny dude.

Getting excited for Turkey and such at Mommy Z's place on Monday night.

My coffee is empty. Time to go.

Wednesday Morning Musings, So Much Going On Edition

Hola amigos.

I hope that everyone is enjoying what Wednesday has to offer.

So far Wednesday has offered me a cold and rainy walk and wait for the street car and wind warnings on the TV. But the good things that it has offered have counter balanced that nicely.

Jake and I rocked 2 episodes of The Big Bang Theory before I left for work.

Julia has invited E-ve and I and Heath and a good friend of his to her place for dinner and game night coming up soon.

It’s movie night with Jake and Heath.

There’s another movie night coming up soon.

I just realized that pay day is fast approaching.

All of these things more than make up for less than desirable weather so far this morning.

Else where in the world there are reports that Cameron is leaving House, characters are going to be shipped from Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice and there’s a new character being cast for How I Met Your Mother who could be the mother of Ted’s children. Stay tuned my friends and prime time lovers.

Mes Habs lost their first game of the season last night, but I was comforted by the fact that the Toronto Maple Leafs lost their 3rd game of the season last night.

I’m proud to say that I was able to say no to a pretty good deal on a new cell phone because I have already planned out the purchases that need to come next. Laptop/ Notebook, TV, PS3.

I got told that I looked like Dave Grohl last night. Highlight of the night for sure.

I think that’s all for now. Happy hump day folks.

Tuesday Morning Musings, No More Sleeps Edition

Good morning folks.

I hope that everyone is prepared for their Tuesday.

There are no more sleeps left until Jake arrives. We are now closer to the 12 hour mark. Good times!

Big hopes for E-ve to have a great day in class. I hope that they start to get more interesting and that the spark comes back.

Also, if you would have seen the picture of the lasagna that she made last night like I did you’d be just as jealous as I was.

This morning has been full of rock and roll. Actually, it’s been full of Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters. Don’t act surprised. You shouldn’t be.

I took my first real listen to the new single “Wheels” and liked it. Maybe I’m biased, but I don’t care, fans are supposed to be biased. It’s what we do. After the new track it was time for some great other videos on YouTube followed by the 11 minute video clip of the Dave and Taylor with your boyfriend George Stroumboulopoulos. More good times.

The waffling, fence-sitting, ageless wonder, Brett Favre won a huge game for the Vikings last night against his old team the Packers. The dude just won’t die. And I mean that in the way that old athletes kinda go out to pasture. He’s going to be 40 next week or something like that. Who does he think he is, Damon Allen?

Now the Youtubing has turned to songs that I used to sing at karaoke. So far it’s been the slow, sweet and quiet songs. But like any good mixed tape the songs will rise to a more energetic pace soon enough.

I synced my MySpace and Twitter statuses yesterday. It’s funny. People all over the internet that are supposedly in the know are saying that Twitter is a fad and will soon fade away. However, all the big social networking sites that aren’t supposed to be fads are making sure that they are synced and linked and compatible so that they don’t lose their faithful users.

I think that’s all for now my friends. Still crushing if you were keeping track at home.

And, as per usual, if this is the one day you stop in every week we’ll see you next Tuesday.

Monday Morning Musings, A Man With A Crush Edition

Good morning boys and girls.

I hope that the start to your week has come without incident.

Best wishes to both E-ve and her mum who are both feeling under the weather. Fingers are crossed that they are both feeling better before the day is over.

Great buffet dinner with E-ve last night at Tucker’s Market. The fish was good, the salads were good, the beef was good, the cranberries were good and the dessert was good. And, there was an adorable little boy who was very eager to show off his dessert as we were leaving because he saw us with ours.

There’s a huge game coming up tonight for NFL fans. Brett Favre gets the start at quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings against his former team the Green Bay Packers. The crowd will go bananas throughout the game and no matter how it ends it will be talked about for a long time.

I got a text message this morning from Jake reminding me that it is a mere one sleep until he visits. I’m happy to say that the apartment needs just a little more tidying before I’m going to be happy showing it off.

It’s also only 2 sleeps until the planned viewing of Zombieland. So far everything I have seen from friends has been positive as far as reviews go.

Best wishes to my grandpa who had a bad fall and fractured his spine in 2 places on Saturday. He was trying to fix some boards in the barn and it got the better of him. He’s a stubborn old dude though who will come out of it strong and ready to keep working I’m sure.

I’m having one of those days where I just want to write all kinds of things about E-ve. I think it will all end up on MySpace later. Check in for the update if you fancy me crushing and gushing all over the place.

I think I’m gonna call it a day from here. Have a tolerable Monday mes amis.

Sunday Morning Musings, Crushing Again Edition

Good morning ladies and boys.

I hope that everyone survived their Saturdays and Saturday nights.

If you were in Toronto and hit up Nuit Blanche then you should still be sleeping it off. Go back to bed.

Big high fives to E-ve for being able to get up and go to work well before me this morning after enjoying a wedding and reception yesterday. I think that I’m getting too old for all that fun. Smile big and flirt for tips.

Huge day for the NHL yesterday as they had all 30 teams in action for only the 3rd time in league history. It was a long day for the league as it started with a 12 noon est start in Europe and kept the lights burning well into the night with 10pm starts out west.

I totally missed Saturday Night Live last night because I was so engrossed in puck. And now it’s a trending topic on Twitter, so maybe I’ll sift through the internet hype to see what happened on NBC late last night.

It’s sunny and just a wee bit chilly this morning with a strong chance of showers, but not dark clouds. At least that’s what I was able to figure out from the pictures in the top corner of the CP24 screen this morning. We’ll just have to wait and see if I read it properly.

Work is for suckers. Writing is where my happy place is.

That and the ball park.

And places with E-ve.

Thumbs up to realizing that Jake’s visit is only 2 sleeps away! And it’s only 3 sleeps until Heath and Jake and hit a screening of Zombieland.

I kinda miss Mommy Z.

Hilarious sports related find last night: (408): Beverly Hills, 90210. Cleveland Browns, 0.
Thanks to www.textsfromlastnight.com for a good laugh.

I think that’s it for now my fellow web-heads. It’s almost time for kick-off.

Saturday Morning Musings, Thank Goodness For RDS Edition

What a freakin’ day!

Happy Saturday. I totally missed my gosh darn alarm this morning and showed up way too late for work.

My weekend was pretty darn good.

E-ve and I had some good time together, not a long time, but any us time is good time.

Heath was able to come over to eat rising crust pizza, chicken strips and chips and beer. And even with all of those great things, the hockey game was even better. E-ve will not agree to that, but Heath and I will.

My favourite new toy is the flashing red light that I picked up at the dollar store before the hockey game. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of goal celebrations this season.

Only 3 more sleeps until Jake comes to visit. I’ve been working on little gift stuffs to send back with him for Romeo and himself. It’s not as easy as I thought it would be.

Go team me after some serious reorganization of the apt. yesterday. There are hooks on the walls for hats, there are hooks moved for scarves, ties, belts and suspenders, and I even hid the backpacks in the closet with another hook.

The weather has been cold and nasty here my friends. The temperature has not been warm and the rain has come down steady. There have been times when it wouldn’t have felt wrong for snow to be falling instead of rain.

Fingers are crossed that the rain is going to hold off for the afternoon as E-ve is happy to be attending a friend’s wedding and reception today. Her dress looks great and I’m sure that she’s going to have a good time.

The new bed is in. But the new box spring is not as it wouldn’t fit down the stair well to my apartment. The decision now is whether I really want/ need the box spring at all. It’s been so long since I had even just the real mattress that this feels wonderful. Having it jacked up a few inches would be nice, but not essential.

I think that’s it for now mes amis. Have a great Saturday.
