Last Day Of May Morning Musings

Good morning people stopping by. I hope that the sun is shining where ever you are.

The sun is shining here in Toronto, but the wind is also blowing which has made it a little bit chilly this morning. It’s not supposed to get very warm either compared to what we have been lucky enough to have lately. I think that the highest forecasted temp I’ve seen for today is 16 degrees Celsius.

This morning was interesting on the subway as there was a dude stretched out across 4 seats sleeping on the north bound Yonge line at about 10:30. At first I thought he was a just a little rude, but then when I took a closer look I noticed the empty bottle of Polar Ice Vodka lying next to his head. It seems that he had a morning pick me up that knocked him out. Other than him there wasn’t any excitement and I read my Green Arrow comic for the nice Sunday ride.

As of right now I’m counting down the minutes until the Blue Jays vs. Red Sox first pitch at Rogers Centre. I have a colleague there for the game and while I am jealous (very jealous) I’m hoping that we win, he has a good time and everyone goes home happy. The friggin Yankees won yesterday which means that even if we beat the Sox today and the Indians beat the Yankees, we won’t be able to catch NY for first place in the East. It’s still close my friends. If we can put some wins together again and erase the memory of that terrible week and a half on the road, we’ll be in good shape.

Last night was also big on the sports scene. The Orlando Magic did what many people thought was going to be impossible and knocked of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. It means that Dwight Howard will take his boys to LA to face Kobe and the Lakers for the right to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings and Penguins were facing off in Detroit to start that Stanley Cup Finals. The bounces were abundant, and for the most part in Detroit’s favour as they walked away with a win in game one. The Pens didn’t play as poorly as the final score indicated and this should still end up being a well matched and well played series.

Jake made me a tad jealous of not being home right now in front of the TV and Teletoon when he sms’d me to say that Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was on. He’s also on his way to the Ottawa Civic Centre Comic Con… sadly neither I nor Romeo are going with him, I know that this makes us all a little sad.
Yesterday we fired off a piece to www.hotpinkgeek.com about Thursday’s geeky day off. It ended with the question, what do you do to geek out? Still waiting for answers and hits. Let us know what you think.

Rapid fire time.

-Calgary has been named the smartest city in Canada, again.

-Susan Boyle lost Britain’s Got Talent.

-My boy Rafael Nadal last in stunning fashion at the French Open. This makes me sad.

-Jon and Kate are in hot water now as child services want to investigate what’s going on in the house.

-The longest baseball game in NCAA history yesterday, and into this morning. The University of Texas at Austin took on Boston College in a game that went 25 innings and 7 hours and 3 minutes. The most amazing part to me is that Texas only used 3 pitchers the whole night.

-Disney/ Pixar’s UP! Opened this week and I should be able to tell you tomorrow that it was tops at the box office.

-According to actual number of posts today is number 100 here at www.newmorningmusings.blogspot.com , go team us.

I think that’s all for today mes amis.

Enjoy your Sunday, where ever you are.

Saturday Morning Musings, Sunny Sunshine Morning

Beau matin everyone. I hope that you got some sleep after whatever Friday night debauchery you got into.

Found a great reason for Viigo on the BB. Any awesome story or blog or anything that I find can quickly be posted to @Wallyzblogger’s twitter feed. Follow to see what awesome stuff we can find.

More than a little tempted to go to Brantford this Friday. My co-worker asked why (which is a fair question) and the answer is adequate I think. June 5,6 and 7 Walter Gretzky will be hosting his 3rd annual charity Street Hockey Tournament in Brantford and Mr. Kevin Smith will be entering a team to compete and sweat with the rest of the ball hockey lovers. Good luck to team Puck U, you’ll probably need it.

Crank 2: High Voltage is on the screen beside me this morning and I have this to say about it: Nothing makes any sense. I’m glad that people didn’t watch this movie for any reality based entertainment.

Huge win for the Blue Jays last night, and I mean Huge with a capital H. For the first time in what seemed like an eternity we were able to get a hit with runners on base and and 2 outs. For a week and a half we couldn’t get a hit with men on base no matter how many outs there were. And take that Tim Wakefield, I’ve been watching you beat the good guys for way too long now not to get a win back against you. I don’t care how old you are, I’ don’t have to be nice.

Side note: My first cup of coffee is almost gone, and I’m sure that there will be many more before the day is out.

Thoughts of a new apt. and all the possibilities that come with it won’t leave my head. There’s the possibility of having a real bedroom, and a real living room. Maybe even a real bed, and a couch. And then a TV that works, and we can play the PS3 and E-ve could bring over the Wii. And we could play Scrabble on the coffee table. And eat at a kitchen/ dining room table. There may come a time in the next 4-6 months (as per the new letter that was slid under my door yesterday) that I will asking for great deals or donations for a new place to live. Please stay tuned.

Guess what folks, the Stanley Cup finals start tonight! The Pittsburgh Penguins get to try and exact some revenge against the Detroit Red Wings. There are experts picking both teams, but with the schedule, age and health of the Red Wings, hunger of the Penguins and karma considered, I’m taking the Penguins in 6.

Side note: I banged my knee hard this morning getting on the bus to come to work. It hurt bad and all I could think about was Romeo hitting his elbow on the streetcar.

Congrats to Kobe and the Lakers for winning game 6 and their series against the Nuggets. The deeper team came through and now waits to see if they’ll play King James or Superman Dwight Howard in the NBA Finals. It’s a big game 6 in the Eastern Conference Finals tonight at 8:30pm.

Fingers crossed for a great day to those of you in the service industry. It’s sunny so patios may be open and people may be out. Good luck.

Side note: I think that watching Pat Sajak would be hilarious to see as a stand up comedian.

Adios amigos, that’s all for today.

Friday Evening Musings, Late Edition

Good afternoon Friday lovers.

I understand that I'm writing about 7 hours later than usual, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

My belief that cranberries go with turkey anytime of year were confirmed yesterday. Packaged sandwich meat turkey with wheat thins, chive flavoured whipped cream cheese and a packet of cranberries. We're talking about a fantastic after midnight snack here people. And it reinforces the practise of keeping cranberries at the ready year round for every occasion.

Yesterday I took some me time to geek out a little bit. First there was The Incredible Hulk on TMN in the afternoon. Then there was a disc of Veronica Mars season 1 in the DVD player. And while that was going on I picked up Green Arrow and read some rather witty Kevin Smith dialogue. I'd say it was a good way to spend a day off while it was rainy outside.

As for tonight, it's more of a sports night planned. Right now I've got Dennis Quaid playing Jim Morris in The Rookie. At 7 my poor poor poor Blue Jays take the field against the Boston Red Sox at home. We need a big win here friends. I'll have my rally cap ready if needed. Please feel free to do the same thing. And if you're there, cheer loud for me. And at 9pm here on the east coast game 6 of the NBA Western Conference finals goes between the Lakers and Nuggets. Could this be where amazing happens?

Good luck to E-ve on a Friday night expo... Not always fun, but dinner will be a nice end to the shift I hope.

Side note: Kinda wish I hadn't finished the wine last night because now there's none tonight. Oh well.

Anyone that's making a batch of wine or beer or what have you is more than welcome to let me know any time. I'll be happy to help out with the product sampling.

Watching the first half of The Rookie makes me wish we had a high school baseball team back in the day. Also makes me want to coach some day.

Happy Friday evening everyone. I hope that your weekend is fantastic, sunny, full of smile and laughter.

And a special shout out for good luck to a double named friend who hops on a plane tomorrow after a bunch of going away get togethers in Ottawa.

Bon weekend.

Thursday Morning In Bed Musings

Good sleepy day off morning, people of the interweb.

Best wishes to E-ve for a great day at the restaurant. It's gonna be a long day, but smile big and flirt for tips.

As for my day, I plan on internetting, TV watching and napping like a boss.

Added Viigo to the BB yesterday which provides me with an RSS reader. So, if you have any blogs or anything that you think I should be following, let me know so I can add them. I like reading. So give me something to read people.

Mobile today which means that at this very moment I'm still in bed with Kim Possible on in the background. Don't judge me just because you're jealous.

Pretty good sports day yesterday other than the Blue Jays. Our slide has hit a full 9 games. An 0 for 9 road trip is a sad sad thing. We blew 2 late leads and wasted an Aaron Hill home run in the 11th inning. Le sigh.

The Red Wings won in overtime last night to book their ticket to the NHL finals against the Penguins. It's a repeat match-up for the first time since the mid 80's when the Oilers got a second chance and knocked off the Islanders to become cup champs. A young dynasty began by defeating an old one. Can it happen again?

Stopped by the Kevin Smith blog today to find out there's more Batman and Green Hornet stuff coming from him in the future. That could be fun.

Romeo's on his way back to Ottawa today in less than ideal weather. Join me in positive thoughts for a safe trip back.

What's on TV in the middle of the day?

Mind is quite blank, thoughts won't form, time to hang it up.

Have great day y'all. Enjoy your day, whatever it may include.

Wednesday Morning Rainy Day Musings

Good morning y’all.

The rain it is a falling, and it doesn’t show signs of stopping. Grrr. They do say that it’s supposed to be over by the time that Friday rolls around, but we’re going to have to wait and see.

We’ve got Kung Fu Panda on the computer here this morning, and after watching the movie for the first time last week, I’m more than happy to watch it again. The voice cast is fantastic, the flick is funny and everyone’s a winner.

Visions of a new apartment replaced sugar plums in the dance line of my dreams last night. Amid the yelling and crying and low class neighbours… le sigh.

I miss Chuck, new episodes, laughs, sexual tension between Chuck and Sarah, Captain Awesome’s pearls of wisdom and even the General’s video visits.

High five to E-ve as congratulations for putting together her new dresser. IKEA is a great place to go get those things that you forgot you needed while you are looking for the one thing you know you need.

The BlackBerry is back to normal and I was able to play some Brick Breaker. The App World is worth checking everyday to see if there’s anything new. Everyone can win, not a problem.

Big win for the Pittsburgh Penguins last night as they finished their sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes. The super stars really did shine and the role players did their jobs, this is a team that looks to put up more a fight against Detroit than it did last year.

There was also a big win for the Orlando Magic as the knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers in overtime to take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead in their Eastern Conference final series. I don’t think that anyone really saw this coming. Expect maybe the Magic.

Big news out of Germany as I’m sure you’ve already heard if you care… Red Bull was found to contain trace amounts of cocaine. Red Bull says that their tests show no amount of cocaine what so ever. The story will continue to develop I’m sure.

Condolences to the family of former World Heavyweight Champion, Mike Tyson, it’s terribly sad news to hear about his little 4 year old daughter. There was a tragic accident involving the power cord to a treadmill.

This rain just won’t quit, I’m not pleased. And as my co-worker so aptly pointed out, the rain seems to bring out the stupid people.

I got my very first glimpse of American Idol winner Kris Allen yesterday on Ellen. The kid looks like he’s marketable. And as a 26 year old married dude he gets that opportunity to show values and love and all of the things that the world loves.

Boo to the high courts in California. Well half a boo I suppose. Good on them for not rescinding the thousands of marriages that have already been entered into. But boo for not allowing any more same sex marriages.

Heavy hearts also around hockey as former NHLer Peter Zezel passed away at the age of 44 yesterday. He was a victim of a rare and dangerous blood disease and succumbed to his failing health. Love and support are being sent to the family by those around the world.

Thumbs and thanks to @SimonSage for the recommendations of BB Apps. He’s the man in the know. If you’re on Twitter and use a BlackBerry, follow him.

Like wham.

Happy Wednesday folks, you’ve made it this far, keep up the good work.

Tuesday Musings, Missed The Morning

Good early afternoon friends, fans and foes. I trust that everyone has made it to their Tuesday alive and well.

Internet, I ask thee for forgiveness as I screwed up yesterday at work. I didn’t trust and stand firm on my first gut thought and now it’s a big deal.

Falling more and more in like with The Big Bang Theory, watched an episode last night in reruns and laughed again.

Huge thanks to the dudes at both Rogers and UPS for getting me my replacement BB today. I called them in the middle of the night Saturday and here we are on Tuesday with a new unit, backed up and ready to go.

Excellent hot dog dinner again last night. Homemade bbq sauce with the hot dog relish and honey mustard go fantastic together. Desert was also fantastic with a mix of blue berries and strawberries with chocolate whipped cream in a can. Mmm.

Side note: Who needs hot dog buns, fresh bread is just as good. And cheaper, and you don’t need to get 2 packages of buns to use a dozen wieners.

Looking forward to seeing what’s new on TMN this week. I think it’s time to cut down on the cable package a little, and while I’d hate to see the movies go, but the economy is in the tank if you haven’t noticed.

Taken is on beside me again, I know now why so many people had this on their top movies of the year list. Liam Neeson is a fantastic actor.

Currently reinstalling BlackBerry applications from the App World. So far I’m just re-adding old ones. MLB.com, BlueJays.com, Weather Eye, Poynt, The Hockey News, AL Baseball Schedule 2009, etc. Any suggestions are welcome at wally.z1.0@gmail.com or @wallyzblogger in the Twitterverse.

Thoughts are quickly becoming possibility in the new roommate category. And while I’m not exactly sure if it would work or is the best idea, it’s a little exciting.

Game 4 goes tonight between the Penguins and the Hurricanes. And while I never really thought that the Pens could sweep the series, it’s looking more and more possible now. Tune into the CBC to see what happens.

This thing is taking forever to write today. So I think that’s here that I’ll sign off. Hoping that E-ve can pop in after stopping to see Mrs. E-ve’s Grandma this afternoon.

Smiles, waves, peace and love to the world.

Murky Monday Morning Musings

Good morning Monday people. I am tired, slow, cranky and don’t wanna be here. Otherwise, things are pretty good I guess.

Last night there were good times had by all as Romeo and E-ve and I spend the night on the town. There was a big set of stairs to a rooftop patio in the east end. On the patio we found good sweet potato fries and a couple pounds of wings, and even a nice cold pint of 50.

Holy f’n Jeepers it’s been busy. I want to run away.

The Blue Jays are now on a 6 game skid now. This is not good people, not good at all. We haven’t won since the White Sox were in town. I’m starting to get sad, and frustrated and want to know when things are going to get better.

Huge win for the Orlando Magic last night and they now hold an unexpected 2 games to 1 lead over the Cavs.

Jake’s got a great new blog idea that he’s been talking about. Here’s hoping that he gets it on the go and we can link it here. Should be some good stuff. There may be some choice language at times, I’ll warn you now.

I think that I have a granola bar or two are calling my name. There’s also a lot of water calling to me as well. The rumour is that drinking water is really quite good for you. And so I do that here, and when I get home I’ll be drinking fake juice with sugar and food colouring and artificial flavor. I think it’s a pretty fair balance.

Big thanks to E-ve for helping Romeo kidnap me last night and for making sure that he wasn’t concussed after an unfortunate incident with the van door frame. Such a care giver.

I hope that some day my hair looks as good as Anderson Cooper’s.

Judge Judy still pisses me off after all these years.

Mean people suck.

Hot dogs make me a happy boy.

I’m still craving bacon.

I miss my dude that’s currently in Africa.

The internet is a loving and glorious place.

I’m glad that I don’t let a magic 8 ball make decisions for me.

Hey, Mary Mary – How does your garden grow?

Kudos to Dino Rossi, Canadian soccer fan of the decade as far as I am concerned. If you haven’t heard of this guy you owe it to him to google the man. Search “Dino Rossi Metro News” and see what he is doing.

I think that’s all for today. I hope that everyone is able to get into the week and start it off with a bang.

Keep your stick on the ice.

Sunny Memorial Day Sunday Morning Musings

Good morning happy people. ‘Tis Sunday, sunny and warm, a little breezy but nothing too outrageous.

First I’d like to take a quick second to complain about the addicts that live in my building. Apparently there was a sing a-long this morning at about 6:30 that I wasn’t invited to, but was privy to listening in on. The apartment above me was full of song and who knows what else as the sun was rising on my work day morning of sleeping in. Jerks.

Secondly, you weren’t thinking enough positive thoughts yesterday as the Blue Jays were only able to come up with 3 runs in another loss to Atlanta. The last game of the set goes this afternoon with the good guys really needing a win.

There are twitter rumours that NBC has ordered 13 new episodes of Chuck with budget cuts as part of the deal. This both excites me and scares me. I love the show so much, and I love everything about it. I’m worried that they are going to take too much away. Fingers crossed for more good news.

Here’s hoping that E-ve and Romeo are able to have a good time today. It looks like a great day for hanging out and having some friend time.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone in the U.S. of A. May your bbq stay lit and your fireworks be magnificent.

Taken is on the computer beside me, and it looks pretty good. It’ll end up being a movie worth watching for sure.

Big win for the Penguins last night, pushing the ‘Canes to the brink in the Eastern Conference finals. I was hoping for a little more drama in the series, but the way that the stars in Pittsburgh are playing is fun to watch as well.

Good luck here as Blue Jays and Braves baseball just popped up on the only channel that I’m allowed to watch in the store. And in HD none the less. Good things happen sometimes.

Thank you to E-ve for letting me use an old Nokia while waiting on the new BB. Merci.

Last nights meal of hot dogs on fresh white bread with homemade bbq sauce, corn relish and honey mustard was a success. Add in the last beer and you have a happy Wally. I’m thinking that more of the same may be on the menu tonight, it’s not glamorous, but it works.

We ended up putting a piece together on Geek TV shows yesterday and firing it over to www.hotpinkgeek.com. Hop on over to the site and take a look. We’re asking for comments to see what your favourite Geek themed shows may be.

On that note we’ll call it a day. There’s too much going on to concentrate. I hope that everyone celebrates safely if it’s a holiday for you and relaxes if you have the chance.

Morning Musings, Sunny And Warm Saturday Edition

Welcome back friends, family and foes.

Highest of high fives to Toronto’s finest for their great work. You may not hear it much, but it’s appreciated.

Just checked out yahoo.ca’s Top 100 baby names in Canada list. Neither E-ve, Wally, Jake or Romeo can be found on the boys and girls lists. Come on people. If you’re expecting, think about it maybe. You’ll have a special place in our hearts forever.

Interesting meeting at the door with people from the City of Toronto yesterday. Turns out my building has been tagged for a pilot project in the neighbourhood which means major renovations and changes and me moving somewhere between 4 and 12 months from now. Big thanks to my landlord for not telling me anything about this. Ideas are now rumbling through my head about new neighbourhoods and options and feasibility and all that jazz.

Youtubing is great in the morning. Almost makes it worth being here on a Saturday morning. I said almost. There are about 7 places I would rather be, just pulling that number out of nowhere.

Side note: Jesse McCartney, underrated.

Fantastic idea from E-ve the other day resulted in $36 in rolled pennies, nickels and dimes. Thanks to the dude at the CIBC I had cash in my pocket for some groceries at the No Frills.

I’d also like to take a second to thank Mother Nature for some wonderful weather over the last few days. There’s talk of rain coming on Tuesday, but that would mean 5 or 6 great days in a row before the showers. Not a bad stretch at this time of year as far as I’m concerned.

Just watched the video for Taylor Swift’s You Belong With Me. Fantastic. I lurve her.

We are now about 1 month away from Romeo’s birthday. And while that may sound like quite a time for a countdown to start, the people that will be there have started, believe me.

I feel like I should soon contribute something to the world through www.hotpinkgeek.com, but I don’t have any great ideas right now. If you have a great idea, or even just a good one, let me know.

I’d also like to take a moment to ask everyone a favour. At some time today when you have a quiet moment could you please pass on some positive thoughts to the bat rack of the Toronto Blue Jays. The bats have gone cold and it seems we’ve regressed to the 2008 Blue Jays as we’ve forgotten how to but numbers up in the score board.

High fives all around, have a great day and a groovy weekend everyone.

Like wham!

New Morning Musings, Hump Day, 100th Post Edition

Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to my Friday. Don’t hate, that’s just the way the schedule works out.

According to blogger.com this is our 100th post. That’s pretty cool. Big thank you’s to everyone that’s popped in to read, given us shout outs, joined on Twitter and Myspace, etc. Thank you to E-ve for giving me something to write about all the time.

Side note: I know that the math doesn't add up when you look at the number of posts available, but I'm celebrating based on what blogger tells me.

The sun is shining and the temperature just keeps rising here in Toronto. We’re plus 20 degrees again today and it shows no sign of cooling down anytime soon. cp24 is calling for a high of 28 tomorrow. It’s patio weather, I just don’t know if we can afford the patio food and beverage.

TSN2 was launched yesterday on the free preview. Before the baseball game started there was fishing on. That’s right, at 6:30pm on a Tuesday the sports network that Rogers subscribers have been waiting to have access to for months had fishing on. The baseball game was shown, and didn’t disappoint. The only thing that I have issue with is that TSN didn’t send a crew to broadcast the game. The NESN feed was tapped into and they were even cool enough to shout out Canadian viewers during the game, but still, come on TSN, Rod Black wasn’t available? I saw him Saturday walking into Wayne Gretzkey’s, he didn’t look that busy.

It was a tough loss in Beantown last night as the Jays lost 2-1 to Tim Wakefield. There’s something to be said for a guy in his 40’s still being able to keep big league hitters off balance.

Feeling hungry. Brought bran bars to work for snacks. Don’t know if they’ll tide me over or if I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy some lunch.

Side note: The bite the bullet comment just came to me because there’s a cop about 5 feet away and I can see his gun.

Fantastic basketball game last night in LA, the Lakers, formally of Minnesota, tipped off against the Nuggets of Denver and took it down to the final seconds. The Lakers came out on top in game one. Kobe was a huge part of the win scoring 40 and taking over the game at times. Carmelo looked good too though and that could be a good match up for the series.

Excited for the prospects that tonight hold. Like wham.

My face is smooth today, and it’s weird. I’m not sure how I feel about it.

My hunger keeps growing. I think I may have to get two double cheeseburgers and drink my water.

Have a great day everyone, I may be mobile tomorrow, maybe not. Catch us on twitter for an update now and then.

@Wallyzblogger

#savechuck

Cheers.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Post Long Weekend Edition

Good day campers. Sorry about the absence yesterday. I was sleeping in and then road tripping with Romeo back to Toronto.

Ottawa was a good time. There are a few things that need to be said though.

1. No matter how drunk you are you need to keep your listening skills. If you or someone else is told to stop doing something, stop doing it.

2. Don’t let your dog chew on a stick in the house when you know that there are guests coming over to spend the night.

3. Do remember to say hi the person at the bar that you haven’t seen in a long time. They’ll usually buy drinks.

Those are my pearls of wisdom for the day.

Big Blue Jays win yesterday on a holiday afternoon. The boys in blue are on a roll and head into Boston tonight to start a series that will be a good test for us. The ageless knuckleballer Tim Wakefield throws for the Sox tonight, so it should be fun to watch.

And speaking of fun to watch, I have great news. If you haven’t already heard, Rogers cable customers will now be able to watch TSN2. There is a free preview starting today on digital channel 1 and later this month it will reportedly take its permanent place on channel 98. This is good news because at this time channel 98 is included in the VIP cable package meaning that many customers won’t have to change their programming to receive the new sports station. Thank you Rogers for finally finishing this deal.

Side note: Thoughts, thanks and smiles sent out to amazing people that do amazing things and make me smile. For all of your efforts, I thank you. You’re my rock.

Last night to replace my Chuck withdrawal I watched The Big Bang Theory on TV. It’s my second favourite geeky show on television. It was a rerun of course, but very much worth the half hour.

I just watched How I Met Your Mother here at the store and it was a goodie. I’m not going to spoil anything because I know how crazy that can make a person (wink wink) but please do your best to see the episode if you love the show.

Side note: I can’t wait until they have the 3rd lane on the 401 extended further east.

Big thanks to Jake for finding a cassette adaptor for Romeo’s van. We were able to listen to music without finding radio stations along the way. Merci.

The gang all stopped to see Mommy Z on the way to Ottawa on Sunday which was nice. She was surprised and put us to work a little. Nobody got hurt on the trampoline and the dog didn’t attack anyone. And there was a quick Stock Ale break. A+ stop in my books.

I’m glad that everyone survived their long weekend. And I hope that your short week is fantastic.

Sunday Morning Musings, Post Long Day Edition

Bon morning mes amis.

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Saturday night.

Yesterday was a big day. We wrote live from breakfast on King St. and then started the rest of the day.

There was comic book shopping at the Silver Snail on Queen. Followed by Toronto Blue Jays baseball at Rogers Centre. It was the first big league game for both Jake and Romeo and the game did not disappoint. Rookie right hander Robert Ray pitched 8 very strong innings giving up only 1 unearned run in the first inning. And the Blue Jay bats finally came through in the bottom of the 8th inning to give Mr. Ray his first win in the majors.

We sat up in the 500's which I normally don't do, but it was a good time. We were in section 527, just on the third base side of home plate. For $11 there isn't a better 3 hour entertainment option in the city in my opinion.

After the game there was some walking and shopping and Romeo's very first street car ride. He survived after banging his elbow and making Peter Griffin noises.

Dinner of hamburgers, potato salad and Keiths was fantastic with Jake's friends from high school.

Side note: Their kid Ian was hilarious and his favourite toy is a lawn mower. His father is sure that will change once it becomes a real lawn mower he's supposed to push around.

After dinner was some more wandering, another comic book shop and then a brief stop at the hotel before Karoake at the Gladstone.

The room Melody Bar at the Gladstone had a good vibe and Jake, Romeo and I all rocked the house. And to end our long day we got up and sang together to a large round of applause before waving goodbye and heading back to the hotel.

Side note: The Stock Ale was cold, the waiter was more than happy to keep them coming. Thank you kind sir.

Sleep was lovely and most welcome.

This morning was breakfast repeat. Same restaurant, same waitress, different meal, new jokes, good times.

Road trip is now under way.

Not a long trip, be home tomorrow.

Like wham!

Happy long weekend Sunday.

Saturday Morning Musings, Queen St Breakfast Edition

Happy Saturday y'all.

I hope that your long weekend has started as nicely as ours.

Last night was good. We had E-ve and Jake and Romeo and Wally time. There were nachos and sweet potato fries and beer and karaoke and lots of loud laughs. Thank you to everyone.

The boys and I are out for breakfast right now. I've got waffles and berries coming with vanilla ice cream. The coffee is already here and it's hot and doing the job.

Going to do some comic book shop and wander around some before the 1:05 first pitch at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays scored runs again last night and won 8-3. Here's hoping that they can keep it up this afternoon.

E-ve and Romeo went to see Star Trek yesterday afternoon. E-ve absolutely loved it and said that we can go because she'd be ok with seeing Kirk and Spock again.

I just gave Jake and Romeo the link for the very first time. Fingers crossed that damage is minimal.

Waffles should be here soon. Enjoy your days my friends. Enjoy the day, bring an umbrella. The rain is supposed to be a big part of our day.

Cheers.

Follow Friday Morning Musings, Long Weekend Edition

Happy Friday, it’s a long weekend Friday, so yay!

No more sleeps left until Jake and Romeo time. Romeo and E-ve get to have some time together today, and then the dude time kicks in.

The plan is coming together for a Blue Jays game in the 500 level tomorrow. The White Sox will be in town and hopefully there will be a win in the cards since we didn’t do so great against the Yankees. Last night was a tough loss, we pitched pretty well, but hits didn’t come through for us and we ended up losing 3-2.

So, I was 0 for 2 last night in picking the winners of game 7 hockey games. The Red Wings and the Hurricanes were both able to get wins and advance to the conference finals. The match-ups are set, Penguins vs. Hurricanes and Red Wings vs. Blackhawks.

Right here it says that the Stanley Cup Finals would be most fun if Chicago and Pittsburgh face off for the holy grail of hockey.

It is the long weekend, so that means patios, beer, umbrellas, picnics, bbq, karaoke, family, friends, camping, twitter, hotel, hot dogs, potato salad, wine, fancy cocktails, music, blogging, rest and relaxation.

It’s early afternoon again, I’m falling behind I suppose. It also means that I’m lazy and won’t be putting up any links.

In the spirit of #followfriday @manadalove @strombo @SimonSage @HotPinkGeek @girls_from_711

I know this is short, but to heck with it, I’m done.

Peace out suckers, Bon Long Weekend!

Morning Musings, Late Thursday Edition

Happy Thursday morning. One sleep left.

And a wonderful sleep last night. Thank you to E-ve.

The rain came down hard early this morning, actually hard enough that I think it woke me up around 7am. But now the sun is shining, the breeze is steady and it doesn’t look like rain again anytime soon. But the TV says that it’s coming anyway.

Big hockey night tonight as the other 2 game 7s are being played. Detroit and Anaheim face off at 7 and Boston and Carolina hit the ice at 7:30. I have no predictions for either game. Well ok, I’ll say Boston and Anaheim.

Last night was a bust as far as drama was concerned with the Penguins and Capitals. Sidney Crosby showed Ovie that he is still leading the best squad of the 2 and the Pens will face the winner of the Boston and Carolina match up for the right to play in the Stanley Cup finals.

Also a bust last night were the Blue Jays. Poor Scott Richmond didn’t make it out of the 2nd inning and the Yankees hung an 8-2 loss on the Jays. Thinking about hitting the game on Saturday afternoon with Romeo and Jake. If I can talk them into it that is.

On TV last night Bones was a goodie, a great dream sequence of a show played out a “who dunnit” scenario that was fun to watch. The whole gang was there including Angela’s ex husband which was perhaps the biggest surprise. Motley Crue also made an appearance on stage and gave a little taste of Dr. Feelgood.

Here’s hoping that everyone has long weekend plans to relax, or be with friends and family or all of the above. Remember to play safe and to be prepared for RIDE program stops along the way. Safety first people, no joke.

The hot dog cart across the street looks really tempting today. I won’t lie, I’d like to taste the sausage. But I will not. Will power is on my side.
High Fives to our friends all around the world today. From the Beaches, to Ottawa, to the United States and Africa, e-Five.

No links today because it’s already the early afternoon and I’m feeling a little lazy. Go forth and find awesome internet info. Post links here, or on Twitter or Myspace, or anywhere. Share with the world the cool stuff that you are able to find.

Be cool mes amis.

Xoxo E-ve.

Hump Day Musings, Morning

Welcome to Wednesday!

Actual text conversation with E-ve yesterday afternoon.
Wally: Hey E-ve, what ya doin?
E-ve: Grocery shopping, you?
Wally: Watching re-runs of Chuck on demand.
E-ve: You loser
E-ve: My boyfriend is a nerd :)
Wally: Yes he is :)
(love you E-ve)

I should clarify, there was only one Chuck episode on demand, so it shouldn’t have been plural. I watched the episode of Bones from last week after Chuck season 2 episode 14: Chuck versus the Best Friend.

In other TV related business, I’ve learned today that a once tres popular Canadian rocker is going to the small screen. Remember in Dogma, at the end of the movie when God shows up in a dress and does a cart wheel and acts like a real hippie. That was Alanis doing what our hero K. Smith told her to. Now Alanis is gonna be part of the cast of Weeds. The announcement has come that she will be part of the show for the 5th season and perhaps moving forward into season 6. There’s also a quick note at the bottom of the release that says there may be some tasteful nudity involved. Oh Alanis you’ve grown up so much! I remember watching her on You Can’t Do That On Television when I was a wee lad.

So last night was the much hyped, much anticipated return of AJ Burnett to Toronto. I watched the game from start to finish on Sportsnet and was not disappointed. The crowd was electric, with a reported 43,000 plus in the seats. The game was well played with only one error and one wild inning by AJ. And Roy Halladay was fantastic. The dude just doesn’t budge under pressure. There were story lines coming in about Doc and AJ being friends, rivals, mentor and student and they all made for great media leading up to the game. But once things started there was no doubt who leads his team, who would be the guy people would pick if they had to choose and most of all, who Toronto Blue Jays fans are happiest to have in their uniform. The Blue Jays won the game 5-1 behind Roy’s first complete game of the season and continue to roll.

Just watched the trailer for Disney’s upcoming animated flick, The Princess and the Frog. I’m not sure.

Quick fire

- Some lady in St. Louis found scripts for the upcoming Twilight movies in the trash.

- Game 7, Penguins vs. Caps in Washington tonight.

- Kanye hates Twitter…. What does he know anyway?

- For some reason Zooey Deschanel is on the top searches list for Ask.com

- There’s an awesome game at nbc.com/Chuck where you can see if you qualify to work at the Buy More.

- I’m done for the day.

That’s a wrap.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Slow Day Edition!

Good morning brothers and sisters of the world.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the week so far. So far, other than the chilly, the weather has been nice.

Last night was good as far as TV was concerned. There were 2 hockey games, there was a baseball game (not Blue Jays, but baseball none the less) There was also How I Met Your Mother, House and other stuff.

Sad news as the Vancouver Canucks, Canada’s last chance to win the Stanley Cup this year, lost game 6 and their series to the Chicago Blackhawks. The young Blackhawks played fast and skilled and weren’t afraid to bang and now they are on their way to the Western Conference finals. Congratulations.

The other game last night was a fantastic thing to watch. The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins played game 6 at the Igloo and in fine fashion the game went to overtime. The Caps were able to come through in the clutch and win the game which evened the series at 3. It means we’ll have a game 7 on Wednesday night in Washington.

Tonight is going to be big at the Rogers Centre as The Blue Jays welcome the New York Yankees to town. The media is all over the fact that AJ Burnett will be facing the man that taught him how to be the pitcher that he has the capability of being. Roy Halladay will be pitching for the Blue Jays and looking to become the Major Leagues first 7 game winner of the season.

Big news on Yahoo, Perez Hilton, MTV, The New York Post, The Huffington Post, etc this morning as pictures of Rihanna without clothes and in some compromising positions have surfaced online. Her lawyers have told everyone that they need to get the pictures down, Chris Brown says it wasn’t him, and people all over the internet are finding them and commenting accordingly.

And in Canadian historic news, the Caesar is celebrating its 40th birthday! The great Canadian cocktail was invented at the Westin Hotel by bartender Walter Chell. The hotel is offering all kinds of cool packages to go and enjoy the weekend and festivities. It’s pretty cool that we as Canadians can claim this drink as their own.
Here’s hoping for a good lunch shift at the restaurant for E-ve. xoxoxo

Lots of love goes to Africa and our good friend doing good things there.

Big ups to all of our Myspace and Twitter friends.

Check out www.hotpinkgeek.com for our stuff and the posts that the others are adding too. A lot of it is really funny stuff.

We’re becoming bigger fans of Lady Antebellum every day.

Tuesdays take forever.

I think that’s it for today. Like wham!

Monday May 11th Morning Musings

Good morning everybody, here we are at Monday again. Congratulations on surviving your weekend.

Confession, I get super distracted by TV, even when it’s on the computer beside me. This show The Mentalist is pretty good.

The sun is shining and there’s no plan for rain in today’s weather forecast, it is supposed to be a little bit chilly though. And there was a touch of cold in the apartment when I woke up this morning.

By all accounts the new Star Trek movie is a huge success. I have heard no less than 3 fantastic reviews from friends, it made the most money at the box office over the opening weekend, and Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto were on Weekend Update with a special appearance by Leonard Nimoy. IMDB has the box office returns at a total of $76.5 million for the opening 4 days. I’m a little amazed that it didn’t make the money that Wolverine made in its start.

This will be Monday night number 2 without a new Chuck to watch in Prime Time. There will be Blue Jays baseball and probably a Chuck re-run as well. But it’s just not the same. Still not wallowing, just saying. I kind of want to watch the season finale one more time. I think that we have it here today.

Side note: Plan is to watch Fanboys later on this afternoon. I am quite excited.

Best wishes to everyone for a great week. Remember that this weekend is a long one. Make your plans, have your fun and be safe.

President Obama cracked some jokes this weekend at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. There were Hilary Clinton jokes, Joe Bidden jokes, and my favourite, the Dick Cheney joke (he wasn’t in attendance and Obama explained it with) “He is working on his memoirs, tentatively titled, How to Shoot Friends and Interrogate People.”

The countdown is now on for Romeo and Jake being here for the weekend.

Big love goes out to E-ve after a long, long day at work yesterday. Everyone loves Mother’s Day, but it means things are crazy busy at a lot of restaurants.

Side note: People that purchase technology should come to expect that things will not always run smoothly. And in the case that the technology doesn’t do everything that you want it to, find out who can help you and accept that. For example, if you have an Apple product and you buy it at FutureShop or a pawn shop or a garage sale, you’re going to call Apple for support.

I think that’s all for today. Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy friends and families and even foes. People make the world go ‘round.

Mother's Day Morning Musings!

Happy Sunday, Happy Mother’s Day!

I remembered to call Mommy Z, but got the answering machine, I’ll call her later. Other best wishes go out to Mrs. E-ve’s mom, my grand-mothers, friends with babies, mother of my niece and nephew, and all the other mothers in the world.

Last night Romeo and I went to karaoke at the Gladstone Hotel Melody Bar. It was a good time and each of us got to sing twice between about 10:30 and 12:30. The crowd was good, Peter (the dude that runs to show) was a good guy and a good host and there was Molson Stock Ale in the fridge. The only real downside that we found was the lack of songs in the library. We are spoiled however by a wonderful karaoke situation in Ottawa, so maybe we shouldn’t complain.

Side note: Yesterday I mentioned that Paradise By The Dashboard Lights should be banned from karaoke everywhere, last night my point was vindicated. It’s not that the voices weren’t good. Because in all comparison they were, and it’s not that they weren’t having a good time, because it looked like they were. But it’s still an 8 and a half minute long song. There are about a billion other duets to sing, and even in that library there were other Meatloaf songs to sing if that was the draw… sigh.

Speaking of Molson Stock Ale, is there a better Ale that you can never find in a bar, that only comes in cases of 24 at the beer store (if they have it) anywhere in the world?

Got up this morning but missed the cartoons I wanted to watch, so instead I watched the Family Channel. I can’t say that I’m bragging, or even proud, but it’s what I did.

Last night I was thankful for people who are awesome with their Twitter and Facebook updates. I was tipped off to the fact that Justin Timberlake was hosting SNL as I had forgotten to check because I knew that Romeo and I were going to be out somewhere. I flipped to the Global time shifting and was able to catch most of the show before calling it a night. There were some pretty good moments and you can tell that the guy really just loves being on the show.

Side note: Awesome to see guest appearances from Susan Sarandon and Jessica Biel.

It was very nice yesterday to get a Blue Jays win and a Red Sox loss.

Lots of love to E-ve, time to wrap it up.

Weekend Musings, Hail And Rainy Morning

Welcome to your weekend everyone!

One week from right now I will be with Jake and Romeo, probably sleeping sprawled out in our hotel room. Should be good.

I’ve been looking through youtube videos for the last hour or so and stumbled on to some Meatloaf music vids. And I was reminded of why Paradise By The Dashboard Lights should be banned from karaoke joints everywhere. The song is 8:30 minutes long. A co-worker went to Tim Hortons, got snack wraps and came back and the song was still on. Enough said.

Today has already been a wild weather day. When I woke up and left for work it was muggy but nice outside. When we opened the store it started getting darker. Then about 15 minutes later we had one big crack of thunder and it started to pound down hail, like big chunks of hail while pouring rain. It was dark like the sun was going down. The rain continued hard and then stopped. Since then we’ve had bright sunshine followed by cloud cover. I have no idea what’s going to happen with the rest of the day.

Side note: I have been super distracted by youtube all morning.

My Blue Jays lost last night in Oakland, dropping their second game in a row for the second time this season. I can’t say that I’m impressed, there were plenty of opportunities to bring runners home, but nobody capitalized. Son of a gun.

Best wishes for a good day of travels and visits go out to E-ve and her mum. Stay dry, have fun.

#SaveChuck

Yahoo.ca is reporting through the Canadian Press that Tim Hortons is warning of price increases. They say that they don’t want to. But sometimes it’s hard to avoid. C’est la vie.

TGIF May Musings, Day Off 2 Edition

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

So sorry about the delay today, day off number 2 has been busy with naps and E-ve time and lunch and such.

I write now from the subway. The only good thing about getting on at the very first stop on the line is that there's always a seat.

I felt a little alienated this morning by the talk show circuit. Regis & Kelly, Ellen and R. Ray all had Mother's Day specials on. Now, don't get me wrong here. I love mommy Z, she's fantastic, so is E-ve's mom. But what's a twenty-something dude supposed to do? I ended up watching R. Ray because I can't help myself, but that's not the point.

Side note: If you have to set an alarm, leave yourself a note or anything else to remember Mother's Day on Sunday do it! Call her, visit, whatever you can. And if you can't have that with your mom, remember the other moms in your life.

From Mommy to Manny... Big news in the sporting world yesterday as superstar Manny Ramirez was suspended for 50 games under Major League Baseball's drug policy. The suspension without pay will cost Manny somewhere in the area of $8 million or so in salary. But more importantly it will cost him respect. There's no real way to measure that now, but starting July 3rd (when he's eligible to return to the Dodger line-up) we should be able to gauge the change by fan response.

www.makeitseven.com has been set up for Canadian hockey fans to register their email addresses and postal codes to support the idea of bringing the Phoenix Coyotes to Southern Ontario. At the same time there is a Facebook group in support of keeping the Coyotes in the struggling desert market. Last night CBC's iDesk reported during the hockey game that 375 fans had joined the Facebook group while almost 100,000 fans had registered at www.makeitseven.com (including Wally Z)

You know who we haven't mentioned in a long time? T. Swift. Still big fans.

And on a semi-related note, there is a one night only return to Ottawa karaoke coming very soon. So naturally it's time for us to start thinking about song choices. Ideas are very welcome. Leave comments here or email wally.z1.0@gmail.com we'll discuss possibilities here over the next week or so.

I think that's a wrap for today friends. TGIF. Bon weekend!

Thursday Morning May 7th Musings, Day Off Edition

Good morning mes amis.

Day off edition today which means no links, no frills, just the goods.

A day off edition also means that I don't even have to get out of bed to bring this to you today.

Happy for and jealous of Romeo and E-ve today as they're having hang out time at a karaoke joint in Barrie tonight. So if you see me out and about today and I look a little green, it's envy, not sick.

Side note: It's a positive jealous. Like wham E-ve.

Watching TV, there's not a ton on this morning. Watched some Ellen, and now, for the very first time I'm watching "Look-A-Like" on A Channel Atlantic. They're making-over a girl to look like Sienna Miller for a photo shoot.

Side note: The hair stylist reminds me of Ryan Seacrest, but not quite as Seacrest-y.

Save Chuck! That's pretty much the whole point there. Too important for a side note though.

There are many websites and campaigns right now to urge NBC to continue the show, and I've visited a few. Take a few minutes for a quick Google and see what you can find.

Side note: New piece at www.hotpinkgeek.com has a link at the bottom of the blog to a www.cnn.com article which has a link to a Save Chuck site.
#SaveChuck

Thinking about hitting a bulk food store today to see what treasures I can find. And not just candy. Tips and suggestions always welcome.

Huge win for the Blue Jays last night on the road. The West Coast swing has started with a bang and a 13-1 beat down of the Angels. Roy Halladay picked up his 6th win of the young season and looked strong again.

Side note: The Blue Jays are the first team to reach 20 wins in the American League.

In the fridge I have sausages, ham, marble and havarti cheeses, eggs, peppers and gravy. What's a boy to make with that fantastic assortment of ingredients?

I'm still trying to figure out how to get free stuff from the internet.

I think that's a wrap for today friends. Have a great Thursday.

Wednesday Morning Musings, First Hump Day Of May Edition

Happy Hump Day good people of the interweb.

Big thanks go out to E-ve for coming over with breakfast/lunch/dinner yesterday to watch Boston Legal. The season one DVDs have been treating us well, and thank you to HMV for finally dropping the prices on the seasons.

Side note: Watching Chuck on the computer beside me makes it hard to concentrate on writing.

Fantastic 7th inning comeback for the Blue Jays yesterday. It’s too bad that they had to make a comeback because rookie Brett Cecil made a great start and deserved a win. The kid looks like he could be good. He hit a few batters, but I’ll take it and so will the manager and the critics because it means that he’s not afraid to pitch on the inside of the plate.

First West Coast road trip of the year starts tonight with the Jays in Anahiem. It also means that I’ll have to stay up late if I want to catch any of the action.

Star Trek opens this week, with a whole new cast, story and yada yada yada. There will be a lot of interested viewers and fans. This is a huge franchise and it’s been around for ever. I hope that they aren’t let down.

Today is McHappy Day. So, if you’re going to go to McDonalds today feel free to get a Big Mac and have them donate $1 to a local charity. It’s a pretty cool thing really. I’m not telling you to go if you weren’t planning on it, but if you were thinking about it, today would be a kinda nice day.

Big shout outs today go to the city of Pickering, Ontario. It’s a nice place to visit, but not enough dark spaces. Next time you’re driving through on the highway take a glance and see the sights.

Other great 401 roadside attractions include the Big Apple east of Toronto. Photo is in the links if you’ve never seen it.

I think that’s all for today. Best wishes to tons of people in my life. I hope that everyone had or is having a happy birthday, is feeling better after not feeling well, or will soon feel better because they don’t feel well now.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Cinco De Mayo Edition

Good Tuesday morning web-friends. Happy Cinco de Mayo. I hope that everyone slept well.

Confession: I was not smiling this morning. I don’t know why, but it just wasn’t a good start to the day. Thus I have started looking for things on the internet that will make me smile.

- Ellen and Josh Groban singing Total Eclipse of the Heart.
- Lady Antebellum singing I Run To You on Ellen.
- He-Man images.
- E-ve (not on the internet per se, but just in general)
- Captain Awesome’s blog (see left side bar/ blog roll)
- EA Sports
- Chuck (on the computer beside me)

Heck of a hockey game last night between Pittsburgh and Washington. Both Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby scored hat tricks but it was Washington that got a goal from someone other than their superstar and won the game 4-3.

The Blue Jays lost a heart breaker last night at home to Cleveland. The bad guys took advantage of a couple opportunities, and we didn’t. End result, extra innings loss.

Side note: I kinda want to take a shift on the side walk cleaner in Toronto. If you haven’t seen these things, you’re missing out. It’s like a riding lawn mower with a huge vacuum attached to it.

Congrats to the X-Men franchise and its new release Wolverine. It’s tops at the box office taking in $85.1 million it the first weekend. Second place goes to Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with $15.4 million.

Listened to the Foo Fighters set from Live Earth on the BB this morning on my way to work. I watched it live on TV that day, have seen them live in concert and lurve Dave Grohl. No real point to this. I’m just putting it out there.

Side note: A part of me misses riding on a lawn mower on a sunny day with headphones on.

Side note II: And fishing.

I think that’s it for today. I’m already smiling a bit more than I was earlier.

Dear Gran, I Love You

7 years ago I lost a dear sweet friend. My grandmother was a fantastic woman who taught me more than I will ever be able to remember.

I know that 7 years seems like a short time in some respects and a long time in others, but this time I don't know which it is.

Part of me is used to the fact that she is gone. Another part of me can remember the phone call and the wake and the funeral like it happened last week, 7 days ago, not 2002, 7 years ago.

Thank you's are in order for my friends that were there during that time and family that put aside differences to be there for each other.

And thanks continue to be given for the woman that we knew and loved and cherished to this very day.

If ever you pass through Maple Leaf, Ontario feel free to say hi while you're driving. She may not answer back, but I'd appreciate it.

Earlier today I felt like I had a heavy heart. And that was in fact the case. But I'm trying my best for it to be filled with love and memories instead. That's what she would have wanted.

Thank you for permitting me this out pouring of sap and emotion.

-Wally Z

May The Fourth Be With You Morning Musings

Happy Monday morning my friends. And May the 4th be with you.

First, thanks and love and such go out to my family. It’s been a long seven years, but memories never fade. So thank you.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen tonight. I have cable packages specifically designed for Monday night prime time. And now, both Chuck and Heroes have finished their seasons. What the heck is a boy to do after the Blue Jays game.

Side note: I will not wallow, this is not wallowing. Just so that I may be clear.

Side note II: I am watching Chuck on the computer at work right now.

Huge day in sports yesterday again. The Ducks won in triple overtime, The Hawks won game 7 against the Heat, and my Blue Jays finished their first series sweep of the season against the Orioles of Baltimore.

Semi-hilarious news from the University of Oregon. It seems that the people that run the athletic department don’t see the humour or comfort in playing ultimate Frisbee sans-pants. 5 members of the team shed their pants during sectional play and it was the straw that broke the camels back. The team was already on probation for serving booze to minors. Some times you just have to shake your head.

Thinking about another tattoo. No idea what yet, or why really… there are ideas, there are old plans, but there may not be the guts to do it.

Side note: This may be totally because of the day. Just humour a dude.

Here’s hoping that this week can be as good as the last. Thank you E-ve.

May 3rd Musings, Sunny Sunny Sunday

Happy Sunday people. I hope that so far your weekend has gone well.

Yesterday E-ve and I hit the cinema for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I give it a thumbs up, well produced action, lost of stuff blowing up and fighting all over the place. Well done to Hugh Jackman and cast on a super hero movie I enjoyed.

Side note: Ryan Reynolds is still awesome, in anything. If you’re reading this Mr. Reynolds, please play The Flash. Don’t let that kid from the OC do it.

Thumbs down to Global for dropping the ball on SNL. We realized as we turned it on that the show had been previously recorded. But that wasn’t the issue. The issue was that there was no sound. We tried 3 different Global feeds and each time things were quiet. Boo to them.

But yay to E-ve for picking up season 1 of Boston Legal on DVD. That show is fantastic. William Shatner is fantastic, as is James Spader. And even Candice Bergan is great, although she hasn’t shown up yet in the episodes we watched yesterday.

Side note: For Hallowe’en I’m thinking that I should go as Alan Shore, Jake can be Denny Crane, and Romeo can be Clarence Bell (the multiple personalitied/ cross dresser)

The Blue Jays won a big extra inning game yesterday afternoon to get back on track. They go again with Baltimore this afternoon and a sweep could be possible with another strong outing for Canadian Scott Richmond.

The sun is shining, the temperature is climbing and we’re looking like summer may be on the way. Get your flip-flops out friends. But I suggest you wear them around the house a little before going on a long walk or anything. Trust me on this one.

I wish I was at the ball game instead of at work.

I think that’s everything for today. First pitch is on the way.

Morning Musings, May 2nd Edition!

Good morning y’all. It’s a happy day in Wally’s world. May 2nd is a good day in the history.

Big shout out’s to E-ve for being awesome. I know I’m lame, but I don’t care.

Took in a Jays game last night at the Rogers Centre. First one of the season for me. I had amazing seats, second row, on the first baseline. And I got to see my favourite pitcher, Roy Halladay on the mound. The good guys won and I took pictures and blogged the whole thing. Look for it at www.myspace.com/wallyzblogger

Because I was at the ball park I didn’t really get a feel for anything else that happened in the world last night. I know what Wolverine came out because the hype sucked me in and I know people that went to see it. I haven’t heard any personal reviews as of yet, but I’m not too worried.

The Liberal Party of Canada has officially announced Michael Ignatieff as it’s leader at the convention in Vancouver. Here’s hoping for the party’s sake that he has better luck rallying the troops than Stephane Dion did during his tenure.

Word on the street (and by street I mean MSN.ca) is that Ms. Britney Spears has asked for a “dancer’s pole” in her hotel suite when she travels to London on tour this summer. Seems that Brit Brit loves to dance as her newest form of exercise and would like to do so in the privacy of her own room.

- Big game 7 today in Boston between the Celtics and Chicago Bulls. We have a friend who’s going to be there. A friend who was left crying in March and April when North Carolina won the National Championship and Duke was left watching. But we do hope that she has a good time.

- The sun is shining but they say it could rain, hard to say at this point. I can tell you it’s not particularly warm outside.

- Hoping to catch a movie with E-ve this aft. And then back to the palace for some nice food, wine and beer. We’re both hoping for a good SNL tonight. Tracy Morgan is hosting with musical guest Kelly Clarkson.

I think that’s all for today my friends. Please enjoy your weekend safely and responsibly. And have tons of fun.

Call your mother, tell her that you love her.

Morning Musings, May Day Edition

TGIF, Happy May Day, and thumbs up to anything else that you and your beloved may be celebrating today.

It's a mobile edition today and currently I come to you from the 29D bus route of the TTC.

It's a nice day today after plenty of rain here in the Big Smoke last night. Here's hoping there won't be as many days like that moving forward now that we are finished with April and the showers that are supposed to come with it.

E-ve and I let our date night bleed into yesterday and enjoyed a nice little walk in the village and a filling yet simple lunch.

Side note: I forgot how amazing a well prepared steak was until date night.

I'd also like to thank E-ve for introducing me to Havarti and it's wonderfulness. I may never be a true appreciator of fine cheeses, but that one is fine by me.

I am sad to say that the Blue Jays lost their second consecutive game for the first time this season. But in the end, a 15 win April isn't a bad start at all.

Bon job to the Van City Canucks on a big win last night to open round 2 of the Stanley Cup tourny against Chicago. This could be a really fun series to watch. My hopes rest with the Canucks as the only Canadian team left in the running for Lord Stanley's Mug. Harness the magic of 1994 gentlemen, and fear not as Mark Messier is not waiting for you in the finals.

And how about the Bulls and Celtics. These two teams are doing their very best to make sure that people see the best series of the NBA play-offs in the first round. 3 OT's last night for a total of 7 so far. And a 1 point Bulls win last night means we'll see a game 7 on Saturday in Boston. This really could be where amazing happens.

Side note: Random, take a look at the Geek Chic article at www.hotpinkgeek.com leave a comment, let your voice be heard.

Fantastic news as E-ve may have agreed to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine tomorrow. This is exciting. I saw Hugh Jackman on The Daily Show last night and remembered how funny he can be as well as fierce with those claws.

I think that's a good ending to a bus ride, and a mobile check in.

Happy May Day mes amis.
