Bye Bye March Morning Musings

Good morning e-friends.

I hate to start the day off with bad news, but I’m afraid that’s what I have to do. Starbucks has announced that it is closing its first store in Canada. Coffee drinkers in Richmond B.C. will no longer be able to grab a Grande Carmel Macchiato at the Aberdeen Centre. I’m sorry to have to break the news, but somebody had to.

Why is it that in TV as well as real life the most potent drama is family based? Last night in Prime Time both Heroes and Chuck ended their shows with cliff hangers because of family members. Chuck looks like he’s found his dad. And apparently there was a sister in the Petrelli family and we had no idea.

PrimeTime was good last night. I added How I Met Your Mother to my watch list and enjoyed the programming provided to me by the networks. The Murtaugh list was the focal point of the episode and it made me smile. It was good. Essentially the list was Ted’s way of keeping track of things that he felt he was too old to do. It made me wonder if I should have a list like that. I think that may be a little further on down the road for me.

Big shout outs today to both E-ve and her mother for being amazingly strong people. It amazes me evry day.

The new animated feature, Monsters vs. Aliens took the top spot at last weekends box office with $59.3 million gross receipts. It blew away the competition with 2nd place going to The Haunting in Connecticut which brought in $23 million. I will admit that I didn’t even think it would make that much.

Celebrities are starting find Wally Z all over the internet. President Obama has added us on Twitter, Zach Braff has added us on myspace and we’re hoping that the list will continue to grow.

In upsetting news a Toronto FC fan was hit with a stun gun by the cops in Columbus last weekend after TFC and the Crew played to a 1-1 draw. There’s video of it with a warning that it contains strong language. I’m going to link the video in today’s section. View it at your own discretion.

It’s the last day of the month my friends so remember these things that need to be taken care of.

-Pay the rent.

-Buy your transit passes.

-Cash your paycheques.

-Call your mom and tell her that you love her.

That’s it for today. Enjoy the sunshine, but get your umbrella ready.

30 March Monday Morning Musings

Another work week has begun friends. Here’s hoping somebody at your work is having a birthday so you get some cake before the week is over.

Last night was Juno Award night from Vancouver. Nickelback was the big winner much to the chagrin of the critics. There has been a war for years about the merit of these guys as rock stars. I know that they don’t write a ton of political or even poetic music, they have a few songs that sound the same, and they are played on the radio a lot… but it’s friggin rock and roll ppl. Some times all people are looking for is some loud music to drink to. And that’s what these guys offer. 8 years ago (February 4, 2001) I saw them open a show for Everclear in Toronto and they were good. They only had the front of the stage because Art and the gang from Everclear already had their equipment set up, but they rocked like they meant it. I say let’s cut them a break and let them make music until they decide they’re done. What’s the worst that could happen?

Side note: At that concert there was a 3rd band that came on stage first. Volcanic was the name, and they were bad. I just tried to wiki search for them and under the name Volcanic there is nothing to do with them.

Just a friendly reminder that it is almost April which means that we should soon be getting the showers that will provide us May flowers. If you don’t already have an umbrella that you trust this may be a good time to go out and get one.

Side note: I miss playing Roller Coaster Tycoon and jacking the price of umbrellas when it started to rain.

Big congratulations to Roy Williams and his University of North Carolina Tar Heels after their win yesterday which advances them to the Final Four. Bon job les boys.

It’s Monday which means happy TV time for me in prime time. Watched some old Heroes DVDs with E-ve recently and remembered what got me hooked in the first place. Chuck DVDs will need to be purchased sometime soon.

Watched The Dark Knight last night, just as good as I remembered in Theatres, even on my old TV. And watched Resident Evil: Resurrection on TMN. Lots of action, lots of fighting and a huge separation from reality in those two movies. Also, zombie-ish creatures in Resident Evil, which is always fun.

Not much else rolling around in my head today folks so let’s finish up here. Have a good Monday.

Rainy Sunday Morning Musings

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring… Welcome to your Sunday morning.

Big thanks to my buddy Jake for sending me the first text message of the day with fun and exciting news. Rumour has it that Ryan Reynolds is in the running to play The Flash in a major motion picture. I know I’m getting a little geeky right off the start today, but I can’t help it. If I may be so blunt, Ryan Reynolds can Wally my West any day.

It’s Juno day, but more importantly it’s UNC vs. Oklahoma in the Elite 8 round of the NCAA tournament. This is a huge match up for me friends. I need every one of you to have positive thoughts for Tyler Hansborough, Ty Lawson (and his big toe) et al. Thank you. Tip off is at 5:05 EST. Go Heels!

Random thought. I miss the weekly Country Music Countdown from my childhood. Crook & Chase was good stuff long before Jeff Foxworthy started counting down the hits from Nashville.

I’d like to say thank you youtube for allowing me to find the songs that I’ve been missing. Right now Ben Harper is serenading me with Sexual Healing, and who knows what I’ll find next. The internet truly is a wondrous thing.

I wrote a blog last night for the myspace page about the environment and a bunch of things that have been rolling around in my head. I’ll put the link in today’s section. I hope it doesn’t come off too soap boxy… but I stand by it.

Holy customers all over the place Batman. It was rainy earlier, and now it’s not, and it’s like the people were just waiting at their doors with their coats on to come here as soon as it stopped.

Point form time.

-I love coffee

-I love country music

-I love E-ve

-TFC is still undefeated

-Earth Hour was a measured success

-PITT busted my bracket

-Dog Meets God this week at 6 Degrees

-Mich St vs. Louisville right now

Time to go folks, college ball is on.

Saturday Morning Fanboy Musings

Good morning ppl. It’s Saturday, it’s sunny… and before the end of the day they say it’s going to rain. So enjoy it now while you have the chance.

I’m going to play fanboy for a few minutes for no other reason than because I can.

I checked my only email address that doesn’t go to my BB this morning and found an email from Cabral Richards. I love this guy. E-ve and I actually had a conversation yesterday based on somebody else that I’m going to gush about, and she asked me which people I would geek out for. Cabbie is most certainly on that list. The email was about one of my bf’s meeting Cabbie at Pearson International a couple of weeks ago. He got a picture with him on his cell and they had a chat so I emailed Cabbie to say thanks. He apologized for taking so long to write back and said no worries… my only question for myself now is do I write back again and start a back and forth. What’s a boy to do?

The dude that we saw yesterday that made the “who would I geek out about” conversation take place was Jose Calderon, point guard for my Toronto Raptors. We saw him at one of the classy malls and he was chilling in the hallway talking to some older dude. I recognized him right away but didn’t say anything. Part of it was not wanting to interrupt him or bother him in public, but another part is not having the guts to talk to him.

Another other fanboy moment popped up this morning as I youtubed a bunch of Foo Fighters videos so that I could marvel at Dave Grohl. I know that I’ve said it before, but the guy is awesome, fantastic, wonderful. Sigh.

It’s Earth Hour tonight, which means that the lights will be off pretty much everywhere. Even the subway is going to turn off non-essential lighting. It’s a pretty awesome thing that people all over the world are taking part in. The only problem is that people are doing it to be a part of something. They are not using these same principles in their day to day lives. We need to know that one person can make a difference. Turn the lights off when you don’t need them, separate the recyclables, be conscious of your water consumption, just do your part. The Hour’s “Million Acts of Green” initiative is awe inspiring when you think of all of the things that Canadians are doing to save the earth. And even though the One Million number has been reached you can still add your Act of Green. It’s a good cause friends. Do it because you want to help, not because I said so, or your friends are having an Earth Hour party. This is the world we are talking about not a popularity contest.

Side note: George Stroumboulopoulos is a guy I get a little geeky around too.

I can’t think of anything else that I have on my mind right now. I’m probably going to go back and search the internet for music videos.

Bon weekend.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Welcome To Wednesday, Morning Musings.

Good morrow ladies and gents.

Special thoughts go to E-ve and her family today. And thanks also to those doing their jobs to the best of their abilities.

Spider-Man saved the day in Bangkok on Tuesday, for real. A Thai fire fighter dressed as Spidy to rescue as autistic student from a 3rd floor building ledge. The boy wouldn’t move for the regular fire squad so when the mother mentioned his love of super heroes the real life hero went back to the station to grab his costume. He says he keeps it to help liven up school fire drills. I think he should keep it. Thank you, Spider-Man.

And who says that figure skaters don’t have a little fight in them. Canadian men’s champ Patrick Chan has taken his shots at French champ and former World champion Brian Joubert just days before this year’s championships. Apparently Joubert was a little bit of a poor sport last year after he lost to, now retired, Canadian Jeffery Buttle. He said that Jeff was perfect, but didn’t try to land the tricky quad. He then went on to complain that the scoring system is broken because it doesn’t reward enough points for harder tricks. Chan though doesn’t like it. With both dudes being pretty young we could be in for a long rivalry. Chan is 18 and Joubert is 24 this could be a great rivalry, here’s hoping.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve been invited to write with the ladies and men at www.hotpinkgeek.com

The first post is started and we hope to have it up soon. Go check out the site, it’s on the left side with our other favourites.

The Junos go Sunday night. Anybody excited? Hello? Anybody? I think that it may be more fun to watch Russell Peters do stand-up for a couple of hours with musical performances mixed in. Forget the award show. I will say that I have always wanted to see the Juno Cup hockey game played. This year’s game will be played Friday night at the UBC Thunderbird arena in Vancouver. Tickets are on sale from Ticketmaster for $14.99.

Here’s something that has been bugging me for quite sometime and may end up needing its’ own blog. Tim Horton’s “Roll Up The Rim To Win” is killing the environment. Every day I drink coffee and I know a lot of other people that do the same. Some of us have travel mugs, some of us don’t. But what I do know is that every year during the contest all of us get paper cups that go in the garbage. Here’s hoping that Tim’s comes up with something like a scratch card of roll up card or something that they can use for people that have a mug.

Kudos to Alex Rodriguez for taking the high road and saying that he hopes the other 103 MLB players on the guilty of banned substance use list never are revealed. There is a huge chance to deflect bad publicity by having reporters go after their local team and players. But it looks like A-Rod is going to be a man about things and take it on his billion dollar chin.

And better late than never for Chris Bosh who says he will be a man and support his daughter financially. He says he loves his daughter and respects her mother. Good for you young man.

That’s all for today. Ciao.

Tuesday Morning Musings - Why Aren't There Any Songs About Tuesdays?

Good morning internet.

I’m going to get this off of my chest quickly. I’m not happy with Greg Gutfeld of The Red Eye on the Fox News network. His comments were uncalled for and upsetting. With that said I don’t hold anyone other than those who spoke responsible. I emailed Mr. Gutfeld yesterday to let him know that he could count me as one of the people looking for an apology. I also told him that I didn’t expect to hear back from him and so far I haven’t.

Last night Japan beat South Korea in the final of the World Baseball Classic in an excellent 10 inning game at Dodger Stadium. Both teams put on a baseball clinic with few errors, fantastic base running and over all good baseball. It’s the kind of game you would want to show a group of youngsters learning to play the game at a higher level. The only thing I can’t handle is the way they all take that big step forward when they hit, especially from the left side. But oh well. They’re much better than your old friend Wally.

Stephen Colbert has again taken the world by storm. And this time he’s taking a part of space as well. The TV funny newsman told his viewers to sent write in ballots to NASA for the naming contest of the room at the international space station. Colbert smoked the competition, finishing with 40,000 more votes than the most popular NASA suggestion. NASA has the final say in the decision of course. But this is fantastic.

Note: What ever happened to Rory Fitzpatrick?

Say it ain’t so Chris, say it ain’t so. Reports have surfaced that Raptor star and one time Toronto weather dude Chris Bosh is being sued in an American court claim. His ex live-in is saying that he kicked her out of the house and cut off financial support when she was 7 months pregnant. Baby girl Trinity was born on November 2, 2008. A sworn affidavit by Allison Mathis says that the baby was conceived in New Orleans during the 2008 All-Star weekend. The All-Star weekend last year was February 15thish which puts the November birth 9 months later. I checked. Here’s hoping that this story has a lot more to it than meets the eye. The last thing that anyone needs is to see another promising young man turned into the anti-role model. This guy does great charity work with Boys and Girls Clubs he’s charming, funny and a pretty good player. But none of that will matter if he’s the second coming of Shawn Kemp.

Anybody wanna join my collection to buy the Montreal Canadiens? I’m thinking of calling Jim Balsillie and see if he wants to be part of the group. Reports out of Montreal say that George Gillett has hired BMO Capital Markets to assess various assets in his holdings. Gillett also holds stakes in a NASCAR team and Liverpool FC in the English Premier League. The Canadiens are already in a free fall and this isn’t helping the cause right now. I’m very close to praying for a play-off spot. So much for the magical 100th anniversary season.

Bip ups today go to E-ve. She’s our most faithful reader and biggest inspiration.

Chuck was good last night. The secrets start to unwind, the supporting cast played their usual goofy selves and overall it was an enjoyable hour of TV.

Heroes was good too, and now I finally know who “Rebel” is. And I feel like an idiot for not even having them on my list of suspects. Well played writers, well played.

HIMYM was a re-run. But with the NCAA’s getting ready to start the Sweet 16 games this weekend it was a good tie in to see Barney’s 64 lady bracket on the chalk board.

That’s all for today I think. I’m going to post the email that I sent to The Red Eye on the myspace blog, feel free to take a look.

Monday Morning Shaky Leg Musings

Good morning my friends.

At this time I would like to make a confession that my legs are shaky and a little tired after hitting the Wii Fit with E-ve last night. It was the first time that I’d used the thing for more than 10 minutes, and only the second time that I’d ever used it at all. I put in 31 minutes of exercise and yoga (that’s right I said yoga) and felt the burn for sure.

Note: Do not do your body test and Wii age after your work out if you want a flattering result. My legs were a little shaky, my balance was off and my number was not good. I’m embarrassed.

The World Baseball Classic final is set for tonight at 9pm Eastern in Los Angeles. South Korea will take on Japan for the 4th time in the tournament looking to knock off the favourites. The only problem is that Japan has won 2 out of the 3 games against S. Korea so far with a combined score of 21-8. My money is on Japan.

This boy would like to point out that he was smart enough to pack his own lunch for work today, and he’s excited to eat it.

Ummm, I just geeked out a little bit when I found the news that New Line is going to make a MacGyver movie! I can only imagine how awesome it would be. I hope that Jamie and Adam from MythBusters could make cameo appearances in the film. This is fantastic news.

Also, I’m geeking a little because all of my TV shows are on tonight. Chuck, House, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM and Heroes all hit the small screen. I’m still waiting for a new blog from Captain Awesome, but I’ll forgive him because he’s bigger than me.

Barney has a new blog regarding approved and rejected sleep wear for men and women. It’s hard not to agree with the man. Check the link on the left side to see what he has to say.

Today’s big ups go to Canadian musician Joel Plaskett for being our myspace friend and for making good, catchy music. There was a time when “Nowhere with you” played over and over again on the old mp3 player.

Time to go for now, have a great Monday and enjoy the week, we’ll be back.

Sunday Morning Madness Musings

Happy Sunday morning people of the world.

We’re at work of course, but that’s not stopping us from watching NCAA 2nd round action on CBS HD. Leo Rautins kid Andy is playing for Syracuse and has been pointed out as a big piece of the puzzle for The Orange. Even Leo got a shout out from the commentators for being an excellent passer back in the day. Go Orange!

Breaking news: Don’t anger a moose! A family learned this lesson in B.C. when they tried to scare away one of Canada’s most majestic beasts with an air horn. The moose had been tramping around the house in the snow and the dog wasn’t impressed and started barking. The moose had enough and charged the house with the family slamming the door just in time. The moral of the story is, don’t piss off a moose.

Harrison Ford finally proposed to Calista Flockhart. There, now you know.

Pizza w/ E-ve last night came with movie coupons. It’s a good time of year to have them. Let’s take a look to see what movies I can talk her in to seeing. Super Capers has Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) from Chuck in the cast, and I do kinda like that guy. Sugar is a baseball movie, so I’m in. Monsters vs. Aliens could be a good animated feature, good for a laugh. I’m also keen on Angels and Demons, The Great Buck Howard and Race to Witch Mountain. Don’t judge me.

The semi-long range forecast looks good for us here in Toronto. There’s a little rain on the way, but the temperature is on the rise, the sun is going to be out, and we should be in double digits before the end of next week. And that’s ok for me because I’ll be off Thursday and Friday.

Today’s myspace.com big ups go to none other than Taylor Swift who is now our friend.

Random love for Rachael Ray. No reason, just had her pop into my head. Maybe I’m hungry.

Other celebrity love goes to: Guy Fieri from the Food Network, Neil Patrick Harris because he’s Neil Patrick Harris, Kevin Smith – no reasons needed, Harrison Ford for being Indiana Jones, and Sean Connery for being his father, Russell Peters for being a hilarious Canadian, Kim Mitchell for rocking my world and Wally Szczerbiak for being our name sake.

That’s all for today folks. As we say: Cheers, and happy Sunday.

1st Saturday Of Spring Morning Musings

Good Saturday morning mes amis. I hope that everyone is ready to relax, kick back and enjoy their weekend. As for me, I’m at work, day dreaming of buzzer beaters and a Montreal win over Toronto on Hockey Night in Canada.

I’m upset with my bracket so this is all I’m going to say: I was 24-4 going into the final four games of the first round. And then I went 1-3 in the late set last night. I’m not happy.

Spring is now here. We are in the first full day since it rang in at 7-something a.m. yesterday. The temperature was a chilly -2 degrees when I left the apt this morning, but it’s Spring so I’ll deal with it, and so will you.

I’ve had Toto’s Africa stuck in my head for the last 2 days. I’m not sure why. I just have. There was a scene in Chuck a few weeks ago where Jeffster played the song as an audition for Ellie and Awesome’s wedding. The link is in today’s section. Not great singing, not at all, but I love the show and the song.

Final performance of Evil Dead: The Musical in Ottawa tonight on Campus at Carlton University. If you haven’t seen it yet, get there early. Last night’s show sold out quick with a waiting list 2 pages long within 7 minutes of box office opening. Tickets go on sale at 6:30, get there before that, bring friends and get ready for a good time. Bravo to the cast, crew and audiences.

Umm, kids are smoking Smarties now? In the States kids are having a harder time getting cigarettes so they are using candy instead. Macleans magazine has the story in their Health section online. These Smarties aren’t hard chocolate candies, it’s candy dust in a tube. The kids are inhaling the dust and blowing it out. There are kids blowing rings and exhaling through their nose. Now, I huffed some pixie sticks when I was a kid, but this is more than I ever thought of. I found a bunch of Youtube videos. It’s weird, crazy and makes me sad.

I played some Guitar Hero: World Tour this week with the guitar only. It wasn’t bad, the song choices are fun, my only fault found was that the vocals were low because I wasn’t playing with a microphone or singer. Also, Ted Nugent plays way too big a part in the game. Boo Ted Nugent.

I also got on the Wii Fit board for the very first time. E-ve kicks my behind in the games, and has better balance than I do. But here’s hoping that I can get better. I’m a big fan of the Skiing games, I like leaning forward to go faster. Anytime I can go faster it’s a good thing.

Point form time.

- Myspace is more fun than I remembered.

- Cabbie makes me smile all the time.

- I need a new TV.

- Time moves so slowly some times.

- I’m trying not to Youtube music videos and sing along.

- 0 degrees Celsius right now.

- Thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the 4 Cdn soliders killed in Afghanistan.

- The Junos are coming. March 29 on CTV w/ Russell Peters hosting.

That’s all for now. Bon Weekend!

Midweek Musings - Wednesday Morning Hangover Edition

Good morning ppl, I hope that the green beer isn’t causing green mornings.

St. Pat’s has come and mostly gone and that means that Easter is next. I know this because The Dollar Store already has all of their Easter stuff out on the shelves. The chocolate tempts me everywhere.

One last St. Patrick’s Day note. Turns out President Obama has a little Irish in him. And not just on the 17th of March. Apparently his great-great-great grandfather on his mother’s side came from Offaly county in Ireland a long long time ago. This guy really is from everywhere.

Now I like Twitter as much as the next guy, probably more, but this little tidbit caught my attention and made me shake my head. Former Toronto Raptor and current Milwaukee Buck Charlie Villanueva was caught by his coach Twittering during halftime of a tie game against the Detroit Pistons. “In da locker-room, snuck to post my twitt. We’re playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up.” If you want to follow Charlie V he’s at CV31.

Guess what?! It’s Britney Baby! (we’re keeping it family friendly ) The new comeback queen of pop hits the Air Canada Centre tomorrow night to the delight of a whole whack of girls on my Facebook. Does she still have it? The tabloids make it look like she still has the body, the singles make it sound like she still has the right team behind her, and hell, the tickets are sold so why not?

Yahoo Canada Music has a link to the If You Seek Amy video. And because we are a family show I can’t tell you why I liked the song so much the first time E-ve let me listen to it on the iPod. But I’ll let you click the link and figure it out for yourselves.

MSN made me smile today with their Top 10 Websites for Kids list. I like kids, I like the internet and I like that there are responsible parents that will let their kids use the internet with the proper protection, and supervision. The list includes the PBS Kids site, something called Club Penguin, a kid approved Whyville, and of course Webkinz. I’ll link to the MSN article and gallery, if you have kids it’s worth a look.

The Bracket is set now folks. Morehead State beat Alabama State 58-43 last night to claim the last 16 seed in the NCAA tournament. They now get a match up with number 1 seed Louisville. It also means that now that the last match up has been announced the rush is on to get your bracket done. I know I brought it up yesterday, but this is important my friends.

And in Toronto there’s tasty news to report. A new initiative is taking place that will bring new food to the streets. The hot dog will have a monopoly no more. This summer you’ll be able to find Souvlaki, pad Thai, jerk Chicken and more at various street corners. I love me a hot dog, but this is pretty cool, and with the multi-culturalness in Toronto it’s a great idea.

That’s all for today mes amis. Go forth and enjoy your Wednesday.

St. Patrick's Day Musings - Green Beer Edition

Happy St. Patrick’s Day y’all!

I hope that everyone has visions of green beer, shamrocks and pots of gold in their pretty little heads.

But remember, if you’re going out to enjoy a pint of Guiness or your favourite tinted delight, please don’t drive. The R.I.D.E. program will probably be out in full force, and I really don’t want to have a blurb to write about a ton of ppl getting busted or hurt or killed.

I’m getting excited about the NCAA’s, I can’t help it. Even E-ve asked me about it this morning. And then I handed her the bracket and asked her to make her picks. We didn’t have time to go through the whole thing, but she did pick out USC and Illinois. I didn’t. We’ll see what happens. If she picks more winners than I do I may never get excited in March again.

Let’s see, what else is going on?

I saw Cabbie’s man D on the street yesterday. He had his trademark Boston Red Sox cap on and walked with his eyes focused on the sidewalk. I guess he doesn’t want guys like me recognizing him as he walks along Yonge St.

Looks like Apple has an application for iPhone that now can help you with those awkward blind date situations. “Fake Calls” is a 99 cent app that you can program to call you with a false name, picture, wallpaper and ring tone. You can program the time of the call and if you ignore the call, “Fake Call” will ring you again making it sound even more urgent. Just another example of iPhone replacing your best friend.

Rollingstone.com has a link to the Top 500 Songs of All Time. Taking a quick look at the top end of the list it’s hard to argue, but everyone has their preferences. Take a look and see what you think. You can leave a comment here, there or anywhere really.

Yesterday was Monday of course which meant that Chuck was on and I was watching. Special guest appearance by John Larroquette playing the smoothest martini drinking spy since you know who. I enjoyed it, Chuck and Sarah finally got their big huge kiss that’s been building up, although not as planned of course. And huge ending with future ramifications for sure. Sad faces for Chuck.

I also caught How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory which were pretty alright. I did miss House, but I’ll catch it on demand or something later.

Tuesday means new TMN movies on demand and a chance for me to check them tonight and decide if this thing is paying for itself month to month.

I think that’s all for today friends. Good luck with your brackets. First tip off is 7:30pm eastern standard time tonight.

Happy St. Pat’s.

March Break Monday Musings

Welcome back to your work week friends, unless you are on March Break. And if that’s the case, I’m sorry, but we can’t be friends.

Fun discussion question to start your Monday: What was the top song of the 80’s? That’s right, the whole decade. The NME blog at Yahoo Music Canada asks the question and gives 4 sample options.

1. Simple Minds: Alive and kicking (1985)
2. Journey: Don’t stop believin’ (1981)
3. Donna Summer: This time I know it’s for real (1989)
4. Pet Shop Boys: It’s a sin (1987)

Discuss amongst yourselves, or sign in to your yahoo ID and discuss on the board. There are lots of good answers thrown out there on the board. Link will be in the section for sure.

Saw Evil Dead: The Musical on Saturday night in Ottawa. And to steal a witty quip from a friend, “Zombies have never been sing-songier”. The production was great. The cast did a great job, the singing was terrific, the dancing better than I honestly expected and the hilarity was top notch.

If you are in Ottawa this Thursday, Friday or Saturday do your best to be there. I’ll link the Sock’n’Buskin (production company) website in the section.

Note: Saw David Shoalts, sports writer for The Globe and Mail at the play as his daughter was in the show.

Quick feature on Yahoo, in the video and photo section there’s a link - Comic geek? which caught my attention. Clicked the link and was treated to 8 photos from the Marvel archive. Nothing life changing, but I linked it anyway.

Race to Witch Mountain has topped the weekend box office bringing in $25 million. Highly touted (and still unseen, I’m going to change that this week) Watchmen dropped significantly to about $18 million and 2nd place, the 67% drop in sales brings the total ticket sales to about $86 million in the first 10 days. Rumour is it cost $150 million to make. I’ll let you do the math.

Today’s big ups go to Kate Todd for being our myspace friend. Kate was in Radio Free Roscoe when I first became addicted to the family channel.

Funny start to my morning as I turned on cp24 for my morning news, the desk kids called a mystery winner for a trip to Greece. However, hilarity ensued as a teen or early 20’s girl answered the phone, was totally unaware of what was going on at 7:22 am and dropped an F-bomb on live morning TV before the call could be disconnected. It was awesome!

It is Monday, and you all know what that means… Chuck and Heroes and House and Big Bang Theory and HIMYM are all on prime-time. Good luck catching them all.

I think that’s all for today my fine feathered friends. And remember, if anyone asks you why you’re here; just tell them you carried a watermelon.

Friday the 13th Musing, March Edition

Good morning fine friends.

As I scan the internet and wonder what is going on I’ve come across a few articles that don’t warrant full nods, but quick mention as they caught my attention. Dress better than Brad Pitt, Why teens share it all online, Lucas casting next Star Wars show, E-ve = tres awesome and, 5 signs the recession is over.

I’d like to admit that I learned something yesterday that many many many people already knew that will make the links sections much cleaner everyday. Tinyurl.com is pretty fantastic. I don’t understand that tech side of things, or how they do the things that they do. But rest assured that I will be using it now for those pesky 3 line long links in the section.

Yesterday I found a list of the top 10 chick flicks. But today I’ve found a list of dude’s 20 favourite chick flicks. The list is pretty good, I agree with films like High Fidelity, Serendipity, Moulin Rouge and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. But I disagree with the likes of Bridget Jones’ Diary and Meet Joe Black. The full list is in the links section. The fun part is looking at the thumbnail screen shots and trying to guess the movies. Good luck!

Note: I now have the urge to buy and watch Prince of Thieves.

My beloved Twitter gets another mention in the news today. This time CNN brings us the story of police using the insta-update service to keep people in the loop. It’s a pretty cool idea really. You would sign on to be a follower of your local PD and always be aware when something significant is happening. As long as the cops don’t start updating things like: “got a dnut and cof, headed to the speed trap.” I think that everyone could win in this situation, except for the bad guys of course.

Chris Bosh did the weather on the CTV evening news last night in Toronto. Not a bad job, but he did take a shot at one of my former towns saying “I don’t know how many people live in Peterborough” as he mentioned that it was -6 degrees at the time. Jerk, I can’t stay mad at him. Even if he does look like an alien.

Today’s big ups go to The Little Millionaires as they are now on the myspace friends list. Thanks guys

And here’s a fun one, a link you’ll want to click if for no other reason that you have a crush on Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd or Busy Phillips. Rollingstone.com has a photo set of actors and actresses that have been made famous by appearing in Judd Apatow movies. It’s quick and fun, and kinda cool to see how much one dude really has done for the comedy genre in the last decade or so.

And finally, in semi-sport related news, a man that most of my generation wouldn’t know without qualification has been arrested in California. Peter Pocklington, the owner of the Edmonton Oilers during the glory days, and the man that traded (read: sold) Wayne Gretzky to the LA Kings has been cuffed and held on Bankruptcy Fraud charges. Somewhere there are old Oiler fans cheering that never forgave him for moving The Great One.

That’s all for today, bon weekend!

Thursday the 12th Morning Musings

Good morning Thursday readers. There are lots of weird and also relevant things going on so let’s get to it.

Joaquin Pheonix is causing controversy in his new rap career by jumping off of the stage and confronting a heckler. The questions arise because Casey Affleck filmed the entire event. Movie? Maybe Pheonix was lying about the whole ‘never acting again thing’. Or, maybe they’re doing a remake of 8 Mile.

In Ripley’s Believe it or not-ish news: A dude went over Niagara Falls and survived yesterday. No barrel, no safety gear, no will to live apparently. Witnesses say that the guy jumped in the water and swam away from shore. Then when he was at the bottom of the falls he resisted rescue and the helicopter pilot had to tilt the machine and use the wind from the propeller to push the guy towards shore. Another story found reports that the guy swam to shore and held onto the rocks and was calm but a little crazy. He is now in hospital with head injuries and pneumonia. I’m thinking suicide attempt.

MSN Lifestyles has a story titled, Midlife Crisis: My Husband Is Gay. I’m not sure what else I can tell you about it. It is what it is. It’s tragic for both partners, it’s hard on the kids, and the rest of the family as well. In today’s links for sure.

I’ve never linked to Funny or Die before but today I am. All things geeky and the current recession have teamed up to make a great Lex Luthor video. Lex Luthor Needs a Bailout, is pretty funny.

Bill Gates is once again the world’s richest man, passing Warren Buffet on this year’s list. Gates lost $18 billion dollars last year, while Buffet lost $25 billion. Poor guys.

Big ups to the guys of Leaving Beechwood. No reason really other than they are now our friend on myspace.

The sun is shining, the wind has calmed and the snow has stopped. Not a bad morning, I just hope that it warms up soon.

Thoughts with ev-e and her mom today. xoxo

Have a good day y’all.

Mid Week March Morning Musings

Happy Hump Day ladies and gentlemen, we’re half way there, whoa, living on a prayer.

I digress, but speaking of hump day I did finally watch the much hyped Canadian Film, Young People F@#$%&*. (The symbols are there because we are happily an all ages blog) I have nothing poor to say about the movie. What I will say is that it’s very much not a family movie, so kids, you’ll have to wait.

Other than that Tuesday night TV was pretty much a bust. Caught an episode of Scrubs, which made me laugh and also wonder if I might be a little bit like J.D. with the day dreaming and such. I don’t tilt my head to the side and pause my day though, I’m more of a quiet reflection kind of guy. The Batman was a re-run, but I watched most of it anyway. Rick Mercer and the Mercer Report was also a highlight on the tube. Dude always seems to make a half hour worth staying awake. And I’m pretty sure he’d be ok with me calling him dude. It also makes me giggle every time that I hear him end his show with “I’m Rick Mercer, see you next Tuesday”

Note: Myspace blog was updated last night with something I found that shocked me. It doesn’t happen much, check it out.

I want to be cautious and forewarning for a second here friends. If you are making plans for this weekend please be careful. I have no idea what the weather will bring in your particular region. But I do know that Friday is in fact the second Friday the 13th in two months, and Sunday represents the Ides of March a la Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. I’m not trying to scare you or anything, I’m just saying.

Prime Minister Stephan Harper made his first big speech regarding the recession yesterday. He told Canadians that we are in good shape to come out of this thing first because we went into it last. The facts are on our side I suppose for the most part. The banks here aren’t in as much trouble and the housing market seems to be better. But when it comes to the big 3 auto makers Canada, and more specifically Ontario, have a long hard road ahead. I’ll try to stay optimistic.

The talk after the speech on cp24 turned to a question about whether Mr. Harper had hired a new speech writer or strategist. Good question really. Harper isn’t usually a funny guy. But he made a skinny dipping joke yesterday that didn’t flop.

Just as an aside, I’m not sure if I’ve ever put this out there, but any comments or questions can always be sent to wally.z1.0@gmail.com or sent as messages on myspace.com

Stay warm ppl, I know that it’s getting closer to the spring, but it’s not nice out there. Keep your sweaters available for a little while yet and don’t be surprised if you see snow again. I’m sorry. Don’t shoot the messenger.

And to end on a happy note… the countdown is now on for St. Patrick’s Day as we are less than a week away. Find a pub, get there early, and try not to embarrass yourself or your friends. Although, legend has it that Ted (of How I Met Your Mother fame) and his eventual wife were both at the same St. Patrick’s Day party where Ted very much made a fool of himself. Take that however you like.

That’s all for today kids.

Tuesday Morning Reviews and Musings

Welcome to your Tuesday readers.

Last night was of course Monday, and that meant my favourite TV night of the week. House was decent.

I really like the way that they are working in the stories of Wilson and Cuddy this season. Good times for sure.

Heroes was next and it’s drama, drama, drama as to be expected. Claire took a job at the comic book store which is fantastic as far as I’m concerned. There’s a theory that any girl automatically becomes more attractive when she walks into a comic book shop. My favourite part may have been when the manager told her that she had the job because ever since she walked in the door every guy had been staring at her, she’d sell comics. It’s also geeky pleasure that she is being given homework to learn more about the ways of the comic book kid.

Note: during Heroes NBC showed a trailer for the new Star Trek movie. Looks like it could be good for the Star Trek crowd and maybe even worth watching for the rest of us as well.

Last on the list for the night was time-shifted Chuck. Chuck is again the coolest nerd/ underdog on Prime Time. He had a gun, a broken foot and the girl of his dreams sleeping next to him. In that short summary it sounds like a pretty good episode for the Chuckster, but it’s never that simple. Supper smooth British spy dude was back and is a pretty good guy even though he’s trying to steal Sarah.

In heartbreaking, tear welling, sad faces news, Team Canada was upset by Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic and has now been eliminated. The pitching wasn’t good, which is what everybody was afraid of going in to the tournament. And to make matters worse, the hitting wasn’t very good as Canada left 11 men on base in the 9 inning game. I’m not impressed. But at least the MLB regular season is just around the corner.

Also in the sporting world, the Montreal Canadiens fired coach Guy Carbonneau. The team is currently sitting in 5th place in the Eastern Conference right now but is only 2 points away from slipping to 9th place and missing the play-offs. General Manager Bob Gainey will take over the coaching duties for the rest of the season. I’m shocked, but we’ll have to see how it goes I guess.

In the world of the internet, Wally Z is expanding. That’s right ppl, we’re on myspace now. www.myspace.com/wallyzblogger there will be mobile blog updates on the go, photos to go along with Flickr and other such internet nonsense.

The next step is to get on the Twitter train harder and get you following every where.

Just found a story on thestar.com about businesses looking at 4 day work weeks as a way to save jobs in the current economic climate. It’s an interesting theory for sure. With lots of people losing jobs outright and bringing their income to $0, are there enough people out there that would take 1 days less pay per week to keep some others working? That’s the big question. When it comes down to it, are we prepared to act when we can to help others, or just talk amongst ourselves and say how sad it is?

That’s all for today good people of cyberspace. Hope to see you soon here or at the new digs on myspace.

Monday, Monday Morning Musings

Good morning, happy Monday, all that that jazz.

The weather is grey, windy and all around gloomy. They are calling for rain and I can already feel the cold drops on my head and neck as I make my way home later. *Shutter*

This weekend was a great preview for summer though. Friday we hit highs of 18 degrees Celsius in Toronto setting a new record for March 6th and all weekend there was baseball on TV. In 2 days I was able to watch part of or all 5 World Baseball Classic games. There were upsets with the Netherlands beating the Dominican Republic and Australia beating Mexico. Both were special events for the winning teams. The Australians played in the inaugural WBC in 2006 and in 3 games had a total of 9 hits and scored 4 runs. On Sunday night in Mexico City they had 22 base hits and scored 17 runs. As for the Dutch, they won a 3-2 thriller and shocked the baseball world with their win on Saturday. I loved them both. Canada plays Italia today at 6:30 at the Rogers Centre and need to win against the heavy underdog or they will be eliminated right away.

The Watchmen opened this weekend and won the box office (as if there was any doubt) with $55.7 million in sales. Reports are also out that Dr. Manhattan is not all Billy Crudup, if you know what I mean.

Find me at www.myspace.com/wallyzblogger there isn’t a whole lot of info there yet, but we’ll change that soon enough. Be one of the first to add as a friend and I’ll love you forever.

Barbie is turning 50! That’s right my friends, the Matel Blonde Bombshell has hit the big 5-0 and now she has tattoos. There’s a bunch of public outcry about it, and I can see why. Barbie is a little girl’s toy, little girls aren’t supposed to have tattoos or want tattoos, and if they do well Angelina Jolie can be the reason.

This is me asking everyone to commit to a Spring Cleaning act of green. If you’re out walking around your town or city and you see trash that has thawed out of a sow bank, pick a piece up and throw it out. It’s cheap, easy and can make a noticeable difference. I’ll admit that I’m stealing the idea from David Suzuki and his Act of Green while he was on The Hour with Strombo.

Speaking of Strombo, I’ve added The Hour blog and Rick Mercer’s blog to the links there on the left. Both are pretty good reads.
Not much else rattling around in my brain today. I hope that everyone enjoys their start to the week.

Sunday Morning After Musings

Happy early afternoon good people of the internet.

Where does the time go eh. I know, terrible joke, but it seemed fitting today.

In case you've been asleep for 2 days, please make sure to turn all of your clocks and watches ahead an hour. Your cell phone should take care of itself, but you may want to double check.

Sunday's are great opportunities to do many things. Nothing, is one of them and one of my personal favourites. So far I've watched Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Raptors basketball, NY Rangers vs. Boston Bruins hockey, Tim Hortons Briar curling and now brought to me by the good ppl at TMN, 10,000 BC.

For lunch, trail mix and some V8 Strawberry/ Banana flavoured juice. I feel kinda like at home Survivorman.

A big thumbs up to Canada's World Baseball Classic squad for a great game yesterday. It's true we lost 6-5 to the Americans, but it was a hell of a game and kept me on the edge of my seat until the final out. It reminded me why I love sport. Thousands or Millions of people cheering on a group of individuals working towards a common goal. The tournament doesn't end here though ppl, so keep cheering. Go Canada Go!

Dwayne (I'm not just The Rock) Johnson did a great job hosting SNL last night. He took a page from Hugh Jackman's Oscar book and gave the world a little song and dance during his monologue. Special pop-ins by Justin Timberlake and his gal pal Jessica Biel were well played during Weekend Update, watch online if you missed it.

Mobile today so I haven't been looking for other random news. But I'm sure it's out there.

So, go forth info craving web dwellers. Find your sources and take what you like.

Until tomorrow.

Weekend Musings, Spring Ahead Edition

Good morning and welcome to your Saturday.

This just in, apparently my microwave went crazy… this story doesn’t have a link or anything.

It’s Saturday which means Hockey Night in Canada. Nothing really exceptional to mention other than Mes Canadiens need a win (but aren’t playing) and Martin Gerber will be looking for his second straight win as a Leaf while he tries to stick it to the Ottawa Senators for giving up on him.

World Baseball Classic action kicks off in Toronto today as Team Canada hosts Team USA at the Rogers Centre. Team Italy and Team Venezuela also go at it today in round one play.

Usain Bolt has confirmed that he will run in Toronto on June 11th of this year at Varsity Stadium at the University of Toronto. The Fastest Man Alive will be here for a reported cheque of $250,000. Not bad for 100 metres and 10 seconds or so of work.

In the non sporting world, remember to turn your clocks forward this evening before bed so that you’re on time for anything that you are supposed to be doing tomorrow.

Toronto Mayor David Miller really does love Twitter as I mentioned a few days ago. Yesterday was Toronto’s 175th birthday and the mayor was all over his Twitter feed. Turns out that by his own admission he wasn’t elected based on his singing ability.

Also in the political vein Ontario PC leader John Tory has announced that he will keep his word and step down as leader after losing his by-election race in Haliburton – Kawartha Lakes – Brock. Dude says that he’ll step down for an interim leader and the party will hold a leadership convention in June.

The Provincial NDP will also have a new leader as early as today. Delegates are in Hamilton to choose a new leader. There are 4 candidates vying for the position.
Taylor Swift has been number 1 on The Billboard 200 for 10 weeks in a row. Honestly, I wasn’t going to write about her today, but there was the story, right in front of me.

How does a Prince woo a woman? The answer could soon be yours for the right price. Six love letters that Prince Charles wrote between 1970 and 1980 to a British born chick that was living in Montreal at the time will go on the block for some collector to scoop up. Why, I’m not sure. But a fool and his money are easily parted.

In, yes I am a geek news, there’s a new book out that I think I may really have to get my hands on. Paul Zehr works as a Researcher at the University of Victoria and has written a book called Becoming Batman: The Possibility of a Superhero. I found the story at theglobeandmail.com and it will be in Today’s links.

Trade Deadline Morning Musings

Happy Deadline Day hockey fans!!!

Leafs TV personality Jody Vance wrote a piece for the 24 Hours Daily on Monday asking why NHL Trade Deadline Day isn’t a Canadian Holiday rather than Family Day. Sounds foolish at first, but think about it, does Family Day get 10 hour dedication from 3 National Cable Networks?

I’ll fully admit right here and now that one year not too long ago I skipped my college classes for a day to watch 3 pronged coverage of the NHL trade deadline. The 3 prongs were (and still are) SportsNet, TSN and The Score. I don’t remember the trades that day, I think maybe that’s the day that Doug Gilmour went back to Toronto before wrecking his knee… but I don’t know. It’s not about the memories most years. It’s about the anticipation and action between 7am and 3pm.

I’ll also admit that I have been so wrapped up in waiting for today to happen that I have no idea what else is going on in the world. I’ll go check.

Sad news out of the Florida Gulf Coast as the Coast Guard has called off their search for NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith. The players and 2 others were ship wrecked over the weekend with only one survivor found. Thoughts and prayers go out to the University of South Florida and NFL families as well as the families of the lost at this time.

Thoughts and prayers also go out to the families of 3 fallen Canadian soldiers and 2 wounded in Afghanistan. The recent fallen bring Canada’s number to 111 since the mission started in 2002. Hopefully in the near future we will start to see and hear good news stories from the region. My fingers are crossed.

MSN Entertainment is hocking People’s story with regards to what celeb chicks us dudes want to party with. The results, (drum roll please) Tina Fey and Megan Fox. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Ontario MPPs were given a lesson in manners and acceptable speech on Tuesday. The Speaker of the House told everyone to remember that words like “Jerk” and “Stupid” (not always together, but alone as well) don’t do anything to keep things running smoothly in the House. Play nice ladies and gentlemen.

Rumour is that Disney is going to make a High School Musical 4. The movie wouldn’t go to theatres like High School Musical 3 did. It would instead be shown on the Disney Channel like the first 2 installments of the series were. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I haven’t seen 3 yet so I should probably reserve judgment.

This news is pretty cool. Hunters are looking into the possibility of shooting “green bullets” instead of the more popular and traditional lead based bullets of old. The controversy boils over as hunting groups (who get their back up pretty easily) say that lead bullets aren’t bad for the environment and pose no risk. It looks like another “from my cold dead hands” situation. Not a major story, but could be interesting to see what goes on with this one.

A new Gallop Poll shows that Americans view us as their second best friend. Great Britain has us beat for the top spot. Canada did get top spot among Democrats and Americans near the border. But the big thing is that the UK got a ton of good press in The States for their support in the War on Terror in Iraq.

That’s a lot of news for you today people. Sift through it and use it as part of a healthy diet.

As ESPN.com’s John Buccigross recently told me, be well.

Tuesday Musings, Still Cold

Good morning campers.

To start off this morning let’s look at the local news. A dude was charged with Stunt Driving on HWY 400 this morning after he was caught on radar driving 250 km/hr. 250! That’s wild, I have never been close to that fast in any car that I’ve owned. Mind you, none of the cars that I’ve owned would be able to go that fast. In order: 1991 Dodge Shadow, 1994 Chevy Cavalier, 1995 Mazda MX6, 1991 Buick Regal Custom, there was no way that any of those cars would have hit 250. In fact, the Shadow had a mean speed wobble at 150, the Cavalier was gutless, the MX6 hit a bump once at high speed on a back road and I lost the muffler and the Buick was a boat better designed for Sunday driving than drag racing.

On a side note, I miss driving. I know that it’s not practical, I know that it would be bad for the environment, and I know that it would take a huge hit from my disposable income, but some days I miss being able to jump in the car to go to work. Or to go visit the fam.

In Best Job in the World news: The 50 finalists the Australian Tourism gig have been announced. I’ll attach the link to their site with the videos that the applicants sent in. 22 countries are represented in the 50 including Canada.

MSN Money has a fantastic link section today for finding bargains in this harsh economic climate. I’m impressed. I’m going to spend some time looking into it and it will be in today’s links. Highlights include: 10 things you should never buy new, How to get 26 fabulous freebies and 8 tips for scoring at thrift shops. Which reminds me, I need to get to a good thrift shop.

March is now really here as we are now the 3rd of the month. Here are some of the reasons to love March 2009. Watchmen, World Baseball Classic, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and Final Four, Evil Dead: The Musical runs in Ottawa, March Break for tons of kids and teachers all over the place, NHL Trade Deadline day and hopefully some warmer weather.

Big shout out to Twitter on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. Tongue in cheek of course with coverage from Samantha Bee, but hey, that’s the way things get noticed. There’s some ridiculous number of people that only get their news from Stewart and Colbert anyway.

In hooker news, Ottawa has arrested 19 people in a prostitution sweep over 3 days. 13 dudes and 6 females were charged with a total of 30 charges laid. 6 of the guys qualified for “John school”. 5 of the other dudes will be sent those letters to their house warning them of the dangers of prostitution. I hope that nobody has to explain anything to their significant others. Note: If I know you, don't be calling me to bail you out. Thank you.

I think we’ll end on that note today. Play Smart and Play Safe.

Cold Monday Morning Musings

Good morning people, I hope that you are all bundled up.

It’s ridiculously cold here this morning. The morning news says that the regular temperature for March 2 should be 2 degrees Celsius. The actual temperature this morning… -15 degrees Celsius, and when you factor in the wind chill, it was a frigid -26. I don’t like it one bit. I don’t mind the cold when it’s supposed to be cold. But it’s not supposed to be this cold now. We were supposed to be past all of that.

In other weather news, if you happen to be headed to Montreal this weekend you will find the temperature near 1 degree, but there’s a strong chance that 15-25 cm of snow may fall from Friday to Sunday.

In fantastic, amazing, medical news Canadian researchers at Mt. Sinai have found a safe way to turn skin cells into stem cells. This is huge news people. This has amazing potential to save lives, to cure incurable diseases and to put minds at ease for a long long long time. I like it. It makes me happy. And it makes me proud that the fine people that have figured this out are Canadian.

In heart-filling, eye-tearing kind of news, a Milwaukee high school basketball team has shown everyone what true sportsmanship is. Senior Johntell Franklin lost his mother to a battle with cancer on February 7th, but decided that he wanted to play in that night’s basketball game. The only problem was that coach Womack didn’t add his name on the scorecard because he didn’t expect to see him in the gym, let alone on the bench. When Franklin showed up in the 2nd quarter ready to play the rules stated that coach Womack would have to be given a technical foul to enter Franklin into the game. He gladly agreed. What happened next is amazing. Coach Rohlman of DeKalb High looked at his team and asked who wanted to take the free-throws, his senior point guard raised his hand. Rohlman looked at his guard and asked if he understood he would be missing the shots. His guard nodded and then bounced the ball from the free throw line and let it roll to the referee twice. Coach Womack was so moved and impressed by the actions of the coach and the team that he wrote a letter to the DeKalb newspaper to express his feelings. This may be the most fantastic thing I’ve read in sports in a long long time. Bravo to everyone involved on both sides of the floor. Bravo to ESPN.com for running the article as well. Far too often these days the sports stories are bad news. This fills my heart. Link to full story in today’s section.

After that heavy stuff let’s go to quick fire light fare to wrap things up.

-Monday night Prime Time means new Heroes.

-Raptors lost Sunday, play in Houston tomorrow.

-Jonas Brothers movie 2nd at box office

-Big discounts being offered for Spring Break travel. If you have a few dollars saved up take a look and see what you can get folks.

-The Pope is rescinding his offer of promotion to Rev. Gerhard Maria Wagner after those comments about Hurricane Katrina being punishment from God.

-A dude in London has been sentenced to 6 months in jail for speeding on his motorcycle. The catch is that he was going 122 miles per hour, with his 14 year old son on the back. What was this guy thinking?!

-Fans are apparently stunned by Rihanna and Chris Brown getting back together.

-CBC’s One Million Acts of Green has now hit 1,201,810. Well done Canada.

-Soldiers have assassinated Guinea-Bissau president Joao Bernardo Vieira.

I think we’ll call it a day here little ones. Stay warm.

Welcome to March Morning Musings

Welcome to March everybody!

I hope that February ended well for all of you.

This just in, I’m an idiot for not watching Wall-e sooner. It was fantastic! And now I kinda wanna name a baby girl Eve, or have someone else name their baby girl Eve, or meet a baby girl named Eve. Anything along those lines would work really.

Last night I managed to watch some of Saturday Night Live before passing out (don’t judge) and was very very happy for the first time in a long time that I got to see a re-run. Originally airing January 10 of this year Neil Patrick Harris hosted with musical guest Taylor Swift! Personal favourite moments from the show: NPH as Mark from RENT, Taylor Swift’s reaction to the cheers and applause after singing Love Story.

In a related note, Taylor Swift is at #1 on The Billboard 200. It’s the 15th week that Fearless has been on the chart. Yay!

Umm, I just hit CNN.com to see what was in the news and found a video story that I will be linking because I feel it’s my responsibility. There are pole-dancing robots. The Kinetica Art Fair in London is showcasing the robots made from scraps as part of their gala. Just what the world needs, another set of robots taking over valuable human jobs.

In more political tech news, Toronto Mayor David Miller has hit “update” over 1000 times on his Twitter account. It’s a big hit with Toronto’s Twitter community and he’s been praised for his forward thinking. I think I’ll have to add him.

I’ve been asked to make a list of the movies that I am excited for and want to see in the coming months so that they can be scheduled or debated or vetoed. So, here’s a quick list: Watchmen, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Up, Angels & Demons, The Hannah Montana Movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. That’s just a quick list without a whole lot of digging.

In rapid fire sports news: Les Canadiens and the Leafs won. The Blue Jays lost. The Raptors play tonight. ESPN.com has an article on TFC (which I never expected to see, especially linked from the home page) and the World Baseball Classic kicks off in 6 days with Round One games being played in Toronto at Rogers Centre.

That’s all for today folks. After work I’ll be practicing my Scrabble skills, mobile will be ignored. Be warned.
