Welcome back to your work week friends, unless you are on March Break. And if that’s the case, I’m sorry, but we can’t be friends.
Fun discussion question to start your Monday: What was the top song of the 80’s? That’s right, the whole decade. The NME blog at Yahoo Music Canada asks the question and gives 4 sample options.
1. Simple Minds: Alive and kicking (1985)
2. Journey: Don’t stop believin’ (1981)
3. Donna Summer: This time I know it’s for real (1989)
4. Pet Shop Boys: It’s a sin (1987)
Discuss amongst yourselves, or sign in to your yahoo ID and discuss on the board. There are lots of good answers thrown out there on the board. Link will be in the section for sure.
Saw Evil Dead: The Musical on Saturday night in Ottawa. And to steal a witty quip from a friend, “Zombies have never been sing-songier”. The production was great. The cast did a great job, the singing was terrific, the dancing better than I honestly expected and the hilarity was top notch.
If you are in Ottawa this Thursday, Friday or Saturday do your best to be there. I’ll link the Sock’n’Buskin (production company) website in the section.
Note: Saw David Shoalts, sports writer for The Globe and Mail at the play as his daughter was in the show.
Quick feature on Yahoo, in the video and photo section there’s a link - Comic geek? which caught my attention. Clicked the link and was treated to 8 photos from the Marvel archive. Nothing life changing, but I linked it anyway.
Race to Witch Mountain has topped the weekend box office bringing in $25 million. Highly touted (and still unseen, I’m going to change that this week) Watchmen dropped significantly to about $18 million and 2nd place, the 67% drop in sales brings the total ticket sales to about $86 million in the first 10 days. Rumour is it cost $150 million to make. I’ll let you do the math.
Today’s big ups go to Kate Todd for being our myspace friend. Kate was in Radio Free Roscoe when I first became addicted to the family channel.
Funny start to my morning as I turned on cp24 for my morning news, the desk kids called a mystery winner for a trip to Greece. However, hilarity ensued as a teen or early 20’s girl answered the phone, was totally unaware of what was going on at 7:22 am and dropped an F-bomb on live morning TV before the call could be disconnected. It was awesome!
It is Monday, and you all know what that means… Chuck and Heroes and House and Big Bang Theory and HIMYM are all on prime-time. Good luck catching them all.
I think that’s all for today my fine feathered friends. And remember, if anyone asks you why you’re here; just tell them you carried a watermelon.
