Another work week has begun friends. Here’s hoping somebody at your work is having a birthday so you get some cake before the week is over.
Last night was Juno Award night from Vancouver. Nickelback was the big winner much to the chagrin of the critics. There has been a war for years about the merit of these guys as rock stars. I know that they don’t write a ton of political or even poetic music, they have a few songs that sound the same, and they are played on the radio a lot… but it’s friggin rock and roll ppl. Some times all people are looking for is some loud music to drink to. And that’s what these guys offer. 8 years ago (February 4, 2001) I saw them open a show for Everclear in Toronto and they were good. They only had the front of the stage because Art and the gang from Everclear already had their equipment set up, but they rocked like they meant it. I say let’s cut them a break and let them make music until they decide they’re done. What’s the worst that could happen?
Side note: At that concert there was a 3rd band that came on stage first. Volcanic was the name, and they were bad. I just tried to wiki search for them and under the name Volcanic there is nothing to do with them.
Just a friendly reminder that it is almost April which means that we should soon be getting the showers that will provide us May flowers. If you don’t already have an umbrella that you trust this may be a good time to go out and get one.
Side note: I miss playing Roller Coaster Tycoon and jacking the price of umbrellas when it started to rain.
Big congratulations to Roy Williams and his University of North Carolina Tar Heels after their win yesterday which advances them to the Final Four. Bon job les boys.
It’s Monday which means happy TV time for me in prime time. Watched some old Heroes DVDs with E-ve recently and remembered what got me hooked in the first place. Chuck DVDs will need to be purchased sometime soon.
Watched The Dark Knight last night, just as good as I remembered in Theatres, even on my old TV. And watched Resident Evil: Resurrection on TMN. Lots of action, lots of fighting and a huge separation from reality in those two movies. Also, zombie-ish creatures in Resident Evil, which is always fun.
Not much else rolling around in my head today folks so let’s finish up here. Have a good Monday.
