Good morning campers.
To start off this morning let’s look at the local news. A dude was charged with Stunt Driving on HWY 400 this morning after he was caught on radar driving 250 km/hr. 250! That’s wild, I have never been close to that fast in any car that I’ve owned. Mind you, none of the cars that I’ve owned would be able to go that fast. In order: 1991 Dodge Shadow, 1994 Chevy Cavalier, 1995 Mazda MX6, 1991 Buick Regal Custom, there was no way that any of those cars would have hit 250. In fact, the Shadow had a mean speed wobble at 150, the Cavalier was gutless, the MX6 hit a bump once at high speed on a back road and I lost the muffler and the Buick was a boat better designed for Sunday driving than drag racing.
On a side note, I miss driving. I know that it’s not practical, I know that it would be bad for the environment, and I know that it would take a huge hit from my disposable income, but some days I miss being able to jump in the car to go to work. Or to go visit the fam.
In Best Job in the World news: The 50 finalists the Australian Tourism gig have been announced. I’ll attach the link to their site with the videos that the applicants sent in. 22 countries are represented in the 50 including Canada.
MSN Money has a fantastic link section today for finding bargains in this harsh economic climate. I’m impressed. I’m going to spend some time looking into it and it will be in today’s links. Highlights include: 10 things you should never buy new, How to get 26 fabulous freebies and 8 tips for scoring at thrift shops. Which reminds me, I need to get to a good thrift shop.
March is now really here as we are now the 3rd of the month. Here are some of the reasons to love March 2009. Watchmen, World Baseball Classic, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and Final Four, Evil Dead: The Musical runs in Ottawa, March Break for tons of kids and teachers all over the place, NHL Trade Deadline day and hopefully some warmer weather.
Big shout out to Twitter on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. Tongue in cheek of course with coverage from Samantha Bee, but hey, that’s the way things get noticed. There’s some ridiculous number of people that only get their news from Stewart and Colbert anyway.
In hooker news, Ottawa has arrested 19 people in a prostitution sweep over 3 days. 13 dudes and 6 females were charged with a total of 30 charges laid. 6 of the guys qualified for “John school”. 5 of the other dudes will be sent those letters to their house warning them of the dangers of prostitution. I hope that nobody has to explain anything to their significant others. Note: If I know you, don't be calling me to bail you out. Thank you.
I think we’ll end on that note today. Play Smart and Play Safe.
