Good morning ppl. It’s Saturday, it’s sunny… and before the end of the day they say it’s going to rain. So enjoy it now while you have the chance.
I’m going to play fanboy for a few minutes for no other reason than because I can.
I checked my only email address that doesn’t go to my BB this morning and found an email from Cabral Richards. I love this guy. E-ve and I actually had a conversation yesterday based on somebody else that I’m going to gush about, and she asked me which people I would geek out for. Cabbie is most certainly on that list. The email was about one of my bf’s meeting Cabbie at Pearson International a couple of weeks ago. He got a picture with him on his cell and they had a chat so I emailed Cabbie to say thanks. He apologized for taking so long to write back and said no worries… my only question for myself now is do I write back again and start a back and forth. What’s a boy to do?
The dude that we saw yesterday that made the “who would I geek out about” conversation take place was Jose Calderon, point guard for my Toronto Raptors. We saw him at one of the classy malls and he was chilling in the hallway talking to some older dude. I recognized him right away but didn’t say anything. Part of it was not wanting to interrupt him or bother him in public, but another part is not having the guts to talk to him.
Another other fanboy moment popped up this morning as I youtubed a bunch of Foo Fighters videos so that I could marvel at Dave Grohl. I know that I’ve said it before, but the guy is awesome, fantastic, wonderful. Sigh.
It’s Earth Hour tonight, which means that the lights will be off pretty much everywhere. Even the subway is going to turn off non-essential lighting. It’s a pretty awesome thing that people all over the world are taking part in. The only problem is that people are doing it to be a part of something. They are not using these same principles in their day to day lives. We need to know that one person can make a difference. Turn the lights off when you don’t need them, separate the recyclables, be conscious of your water consumption, just do your part. The Hour’s “Million Acts of Green” initiative is awe inspiring when you think of all of the things that Canadians are doing to save the earth. And even though the One Million number has been reached you can still add your Act of Green. It’s a good cause friends. Do it because you want to help, not because I said so, or your friends are having an Earth Hour party. This is the world we are talking about not a popularity contest.
Side note: George Stroumboulopoulos is a guy I get a little geeky around too.
I can’t think of anything else that I have on my mind right now. I’m probably going to go back and search the internet for music videos.
Bon weekend.
