Tuesday Morning Musings, I Carried A Watermelon Edition

Good morning my fellow internetters.

I hope that everyone is having a good day so far.

A special and huge happy back to school day for E-ve! I’m way proud and super excited by proxy.

One of my childhood icons died yesterday. Patrick Swayze was in a bunch of great movies and when I say great I mean that people loved them. There are scenes that nobody will forget from Ghost and Roadhouse and Point Break. But for me it will always be Dirty Dancing. When I was a little boy Mommy Z’s best friend had a daughter that was 2 years older than me. She loved Dirty Dancing it was her favourite thing in the world. So much so that she made me learn all the dances from the movie. When I was 8 years old I could do an 8 year old version of everything except for the lift. We weren’t that dumb. I can’t remember them all now, but I know how to move my hips when I dance and I know that this is my space and that is your space. And the last thing anyone wants to see is spaghetti arms! A legend died after a 2 year battle with cancer. It’s sad because he was a man, just like anyone else. And my thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family and friends. Rest In Peace sir. Thank you.

I got a tweet from @cabralrichards yesterday with regards to the fake interview that I put together. I don’t think that he hated it… said it was an interesting take on things… also said that he needs a fresh dose of shut the hell up… he’s a humble guy… I like it.

I’m still fighting the internal battle between my gamer geek that wants me to go out and get a PS3 now that they have dropped in price ($299 CDN) and my more thoughtful geek who knows that there are bills upcoming and a new bed needed. Le sigh.

Side note: I’m wondering if there are any places in Toronto that take trade-ins on PS2 systems. I have a few games that I’ll look to ditch as well, but it’s the system I’m wondering about… let me know if you know anything.

I watched the Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots last night on Monday Night Football… I was cheering for the Bills (which I hardly ever do) and thought that they had a chance to win. But that was before Tom Brady turned back into Tom Brady. The dude carved up the Bills defense and won the game in the last 4 minutes. There can be an argument made that the Bills lost the game just as much as the Pats won it, but I’ll give the credit to the offense.

Side note: Leodis McKelvin has a lot of making up to do over the next few weeks as far as Bills fans are concerned. His fumble on the late kick-off return gave Tom Brady the chance to win.

E-ve told me yesterday that I am invited to come to the gym with her to work out any time that I want. It’s tempting because I love hanging out with her and having us time. It’s intimidating because I haven’t spent any time in a gym since I was 19 and the gym was a little caged in bunker above the high school gym. I think that I may be able to keep up if I chose the right activities, but if not I’ll look like a fool for certain. Either way I think that some day it will probably happen.

Congratulations to Adam Lind of the Toronto Blue Jays for reaching the 100 RBI mark this season for the first time in his young career. Here’s hoping that there will be many more just like it in the future.

High fives to everyone, for no reason other than I love high fives.

Just like always my friends, and as always, if this is the one day that you check us out, See you next Tuesday!

Like wham!
