Saturday Morning Musings, Star Wars Geek Out Edition

Good morning folks.

I write to you this morning in full geek mode.

Yesterday E-ve and I did some much needed shopping for groceries and such and had great success. She’s great to shop with because she can rein me in when I get a little impulsive, but she also points out the things that I need or would like when I had forgotten I needed or wanted it.

I decided while we were shopping that I was going to get a treat for us. What started as a plan to find Kevin Smith’s Dogma to replace my lost copy and have something to watch with dinner ended with the Star Wars original trilogy. We worked out the timing and were able to watch all three of the flicks while making dinner (which was fantastic thanks to E-ve) and chillin’ out for the rest of the afternoon, evening and night.

The movies held up big time for me, as I’m sure they do for everyone who loves them. The Droids are hilarious, Lando is a bad, bad man and Han Solo is a man among men.

I also think that I’ve figured out what I’m going to try and get E-ve for Christmas… but I’m not sure where I’m going to find an Ewok.

Speaking of presents today is Jake’s birthday. My older brother from another mother. I have a few ideas that I need to run past Romeo to make sure that they would be additions to Jake’s collection and not doubles. I’m hoping to get some pictures snapped and confirmation received soon. Then the sending and hopeful visit details can be worked out.

To continue with the geekery I watched the last half hour of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek here at work. The movie is fantastic and I’ve been waiting to finish it since I tried to watch it Wednesday.

TIFF is in full swing now with celebrity sightings, front page photos and constant updates coming through all over the city. It’s a busy time of year around here and a huge money maker for a lot of people.

Wearing a new pair of shoes today. They fit well and the insoles that we got for them are nice, but just like anything else, they’re going to take some getting used to.

Get well soon messages to Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The defensive force suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during the season opener on Thursday and has become the latest NLFer to be felled by the Madden curse.

Big love to E-ve, just because she’s awesome.

Have a great day everyone, if you see Jake give him a hug and say happy birthday.

Like wham!
