Thursday's Rainy Morning Musings

Good gross, windy, rainy, floody, Thursday morning all.

I trust that last night was good for you.

I was a happy boy to see my Toronto Raptors win their second game in a row. Here in Toronto that’s a big thing these days. I was also happy to see that the UNC Tar Heels beat the Duke Blue Devils 101-87, a huge win for the boys in baby blue.

I was sad however to see my Montreal Canadiens lose big in Edmonton, and sad again when the BEN 10 movie was on instead of The Batman on TeleToon.

But I digress. There’s bigger news out there. One of childhood heroes has been accused of having unprotected sex with his ex-gf when he knowingly was HIV positive. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I really hope he’s innocent.

People all over the world are suffering because of weather related issues. Rain, Earthquakes, Fire, it’s all scary stuff and I hope that in the end everyone will be able to move forward with their lives and have some sort of reality. Thoughts and prayers are with them.

I get to leave work after only 7 hours today, it’s fantastic. I’m excited. It’s a far cry from my regular 10 hour days. So smiles and cheers all around for that.

The other story that I have my eye on is the Ontario Elementary School Teachers Union labour dispute. The Union has been given a deadline of this afternoon to accept or reject the current and final offer from the government before their strike date comes at the end of March. That would be a lot of students out of classrooms. I remember when Bill C-160 was new and the Secondary School Teachers when on strike and then rotating strike and then work to rule. It wasn’t fun, nobody won in the short term, and I hope that the Elementary School Teachers Union can avoid something like that.

Oh yeah, Chris Brown is still in trouble. I don’t have the interest to do research about things, but I did see a report that Jay-Z is pissed because Rihanna is close to him. If that’s the case, and it’s proven that Brown crossed a line and the alleged assault did take place, you may never hear from that boy again. Jay-Z has enough pull to end a career, believe that.

Ciao for now.
