Bonjour and good morning, it’s Wednesday again and I’m here at work. My coffee is hot the weather is cold and the sun is shining.
Last night was a lackluster as far as TV goes. I watched some 6Teen and The Batman on Teletoon between 8 and 9 and then got into the TMN.
The Bourne Ultimatum started at 9 and it was pretty good. There was a bunch of fighting, espionage, and best of all – Julia Stiles!
I’ve loved that girl since 10 Things I Hate About You. “Your eyes have a little green in them (throw up noises)”
Overall I liked the way that they wrapped things up. I know that they were books first, written by Robert Ludlam so there was an ending already there to use. But I tried to read them, and they are a little old and a little slow to get into. And the differences between the Cold War and present day are many and significant.
Damon still had some moves, but I’m not sure that I’d want to see him do another Bourne movie. (Thank you goodness that there were only 3 books)
The acting was alright, the action was satisfying, and I didn’t have to rent the movie because it was on TV, I’d say that’s a winning combination.
After the Bourne credits rolled I realized that it was Tuesday and that meant new movies on TMN On Demand.
I pulled up channel 308 and hit the New This Week link and to my extreme surprise and excitement “21” is now available.
I’d been excited to see this film since I saw the first preview. Part of the reason is that I was a big fan of a Canadian film called “The Last Casino” from 2004. It’s also the story of a bunch of uber-smart math kids that are taught to count cards by their Prof. At this point I’d like to see it again. I hope that I can find it somewhere.
I did like “21” though. It was well put together. The young actors involved did a pretty good job. Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Spacey both played their parts well as should be expected from them. And the girls were cute. No losers at this table.
If nothing else the movie made me regret not paying more attention in Math class when I was a kid. I’ll probably watch it again, I won’t lie, but I may not pay as much attention next time.
As for the rest of the world, I have no idea what’s going on. Obama’s President, Harper’s budget looks like it’s going to pass, Clinton (Hilary) is looking at Asia for her first official with the new gov, it’s cold, it’s snowy, buses will soon be running in Ottawa and students are back to school at York University. Ok, so I may have a small idea of what’s going on. But nothing comprehensive.
