Good morning mes amis. I was all ready to tell you guys that I wasn’t a geek anymore. And then I realized that my proof was going to be that I didn’t have any Zombie news, or TV news from last night, and I wasn’t going to talk about the comic book that I was reading last night. That would have been pretty good proof I think. Except I was going to follow it up with the news that I was already working on the morning crossword puzzle instead of randomly cruising the internet for news and sports and odd happenings. Looks like I’m a geek no matter what I do. Darn it all.
Let’s do a bunch of semi-quick fire things today because it looks like there may be a bunch of things out there in the world.
-President Barack Obama is making his first trip outside of the United States this morning and will land in Ottawa this morning for a 6 hour visit. That’s right I said 6 hours. Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean will meet the President at the airport. Prime Minister Harper will meet with Obama and talk shop. Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff will get a 15 minute meeting to say his piece. There will also be what cp24 is calling a tightly scheduled News Conference.
-Yahoo Entertainment effectively caught my attention this morning when they used Taylor Swift’s picture to get me to click their Brit Awards coverage. But the picture that they used and featured on the home page was actually number 44 of 76. And in the time it took me to hit next 43 times, I grew sick of Duffy altogether. Boo Duffy.
-I have to print a retraction with regard to yesterday’s comments about my friend being in Paris and skipping Hockey Day in Canada. Facebook tells me that he’s coming home today. Sorry bud.
-Montreal Canadiens lost in a shoot-out. Is it bad that I’m almost satisfied with the 1 point gained in the standings?
-On an impulse I went to the Rolling Stone website for the first time in years and was pleased to see that Taylor Swift is on the cover. The reaction to her fame is both supportive and condemning. I was kind of cool to see Hunter S. Thompson’s name mentioned in a thread about her as well. Check it out in today’s links.
-Top Chef was on the Food Network last night. Semi-Finals, Jeff was brought back, but is gone again. Stefan reminds me of a friend when he gets all bitchy. Fabio loses and is gone, sad faces. Carla wins the challenge and will go to the finale along with Hosea and Stefan.
-Watched the Fanboys trailer online last night and kinda really wanna see the movie… but I can’t find it being played anywhere in Toronto. Are you kidding me?!
-It’s cold outside. Enough said.
-I didn’t win the lottery last night. No 39 Million Dollars for me. But on the bright side nobody won, the Saturday jackpot is estimated to be 48 Million Dollars instead. Better get your ticket.
-A huge cache of Ice Age fossils has been discovered in Los Angeles. The findings includeMamoth, Sabre-toothed Tiger, Dire Wolf and Bisons among others. Pretty cool eh.
That’s all for today kids. I have to get back to my crossword.
