Tuesday Morning Musings, I'm Back

Good morning all.

I’m dropping in this morning after missing yesterday, sorry about that.

First, I have to admit that I am disappointed with Monday night’s primetime line-up. I had everything scheduled perfectly after last weeks cable package additions and time-shifting calculations, and then everything got messed up.

I was looking forward to Heroes, House, Chuck, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. And then, boom, it all came crashing down. Heroes was on at 7 on early shifting but then House was a re-run, Chuck wasn’t on because my boy Obama needed the air time and How I Met Your Mother was a re-run as well. Only Big Bang Theory came through with a new episode.

The biggest thing to happen on TV since I checked in last was The Grammy telecast. I watched from start to finish and was mostly impressed. I was hoping that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was going to host the entire show when he was the first to step on stage with a microphone, but that didn’t happen.

I did get to see some of the people that I pointed out Sunday morning win awards which was nice. Kings of Leon, Brad Paisley and Sugarland all picked up little gramophone statues and smiled for the cameras. Seeing Sugarland win made me smile and hearing them sing almost made my cry. That girl has come a long way from “Dear mom and dad please send money”.

I also had a feeling going in that Robert Plant and Alison Krauss would be big winners. The critics absolutely love them and for good reason. They are both legends in the music industry and they sound pretty good together. I’m not sure how much more I want to see Robert Plant on camera or hear him speak. Yikes.

My biggest smile of the night came during Sir Paul McCartney’s performance though. And it was all thanks to Dave Grohl. I can’t remember the last time that I saw a grown man smile so big and sing along to enthusiastically to anything. Dave looked like a little boy playing catch with his idol (as long as it’s not Alex Rodriguez, there I brought it up, are you happy now?)

I did start to think though. How must it make Taylor feel to see his band leader and guitar player playing the drums for Paul McCartney while he sits in the crowd to watch? He’s not even the biggest profile drummer in the band. But, as my special friend pointed out, Taylor started with Alanis, what does he expect?

I also had an urge to grow my hair out to be more like him. I’m not gay, but that man is fantastic, amazing and everything I wish I could be if I were a Rockstar.

Now that I’ve played fanboy a little, I think I’ll call it a day.

I may be back later.
