Thursday Morning Musings, Ricky's On The Mound Edition

Good aft kiddies.

I hope you're well.

Big hig fives to E-ve and her study group. I'm sure they are working the flash cards and calculators as we speak. Keep it up guys.

Excited to see E-ve soon. Miss her.

Thumbs up to my PS2 as it decided to work yesterday. I have no idea why I tried it, but yay!

As I had some time on my hands yesterday afternoon I decided to rock a fantasy draft for franchise mode in MLB '09 The Show... After 53 rounds of drafting I let the cpu do the rest for me.

And today I made some trades to make the squad even better. We're gonna hit and we're gonna pitch at the front of the rotation... But catch and throw will be tough and we aren't very fast.

The real life Blue Jays are on the field right now in Texas. The are looking for a second win in a row against the Rangers. Ricky Romero is on the hill for the Jays and I have high hopes for him this summer.

Big ups to Vernon Wells and his 3 home runs and 6 rbi so far this season. Fans have been waiting for this type of production for years.

Thumbs down to the Maple Leafs for not beating the NY Rangers last night.

It's a grey, ugly day outside. The kind of day that kinda makes me wish I had a cat to cuddle with.

I got started yesterday on my guest post for Romeo's blog. My only concern is length. I may have to make it a 2 parter.

I succesfully used the last of the Easter leftovers yesterday. First the ham got diced and mixed in with onion and peppers and set atop some oven baked hashbrowns. And then for dinner the turkey and stuffing were combined with onion, corn, peas, carrots, green beans and pasta in a make shift caserole that worked pretty well. I'll be having more of it for dinner tonight.

The stupid bathroom sink is backed up again.

Go Habs Go.

With the Chris Bosh and Hedo Turkaglu injuries to the Raptors I'm starting to wonder if missing the play-offs and getting a higher draft pick isn't such a bad idea. Chris Bosh will likely leave for greener pastures and we will have cap space and a hot young rookie to revamp the roster for next year.

Wish I was going to the Blue Jays home opener on Monday.

Tally whoa!

Have a great Thursday friends. We're almost at the weekend.

Check the Twitter feed for exciting info as the day goes on.

Thursday Morning Musings, I Pity The April Fool Edition

Hey hey hey.

Happy Thursday kids. For most of us it's the start of a long weekend. And there ain't nothing wrong with that.

Big ups to E-ve who I get to see later. We've got a coffee date with a friend we don't get to see very much and then an us date to watch Bones and hang out and maybe even eat. I like the plan a lot.

Plus, the coffee place is called Balzac's, and that makes me giggle.

Dribble penetration.

Tally whoa!

I fired up another Long Form Musings post yesterday about the upcoming podcast experiment with Romeo and Jake. I don't think the link is on the side bar, so here's the url. www.thelongformmusings.blogspot.com or click view complete profile and go from there.

Thumbs down to the effort of the Habs in the 2nd and 3rd period last night. We lost 2-1 and both goalies were in the 3 stars. Not impressed.

Watching the replay of last night's Raptors game right now. Mostly because I know they won. Also because I don't want to watch CSI: NY on A&E.

It is April Fool's Day... I have not played any jokes.

Pizza craving coming on strong. Son of a gun.

Dinner at Daddy Z's tomorrow and then dinner at Mommy Z's on Satirday night. I'll be a well fed boy. And I will be taking tupperware so I can smuggle home left-overs. Don't judge me.

Also, like I said yesterday, it's Float Your Fanny Down The Ganny time this weekend. I've done it once before, and maybe some day I would do it again, but I'm not sure. But Google it and look at the YouTube clips and pictures and stories. It's a pretty cool tradition and a good time.

I hope I get candy this weekend.

I hope you get candy too.

Love to everyone that checks in from time to time, or every day. We're almost at 1700 hits. That's pretty cool.

High fives to @technicolor_cat after I called him out yesterday on Twitter. Good guy.

I am becoming a huge Sonny Weems fan. This dude plays hard, plays well, does the community stuff and brings enthusiasm to everything I see him do.

I think that's all I've got for now mes amis. But there's always a chance that there will be more later.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Easter's Coming Edition

Good morning one and all.

Welcome to Tuesday. Glad you could make it.

Big love to E-ve. Hoping that she is feeling much better today than she was last night. Also, big thanks to her for the great pancakes that we had for brunch yesterday. The added chocolate that we forgot was here was a fantastic touch.

And a second thank you for being my biggest fan and strongest supporter when times are good or tough.

The Raptors won last night, can you believe it? With only a few minutes left in the game I tweeted that they were close to breaking my heart again and then bam! they finished a game strong and got a much, much needed W.

Here's one of my favourite quotes from the last little while: "Kids who read comic books are reading."

I wonder if you can make pancakes with yogurt in the batter?

New background on my BB is the DC Trinity logo with Batman at the front. I like it.

I need to get back to Romeo, but I have a feeling that we're going to have a test run this Sunday on the podcast. Probably means we should try to come up with some ideas and names and such. Yikes. Please note that the podcast may not be as family friendly as this blog and Romeo's blog... But those warnings will be made when needed, I promise.

If you're not reading Romeo's blog, why not? www.semi-dailyplanet.blogspot.com

Still trying to figure out what my plans are for Easter weekend. Maybe spending some time with Mommy Z.

The Home Cooking Experiment hasn't been as strict as it once was, but I'm glad to report that I am eating much healthier than I used to. I am also cooking with more veggies and creativity which is good for everyone.

Did I mention that E-ve picked Indiana Jones for date night movies the other day? What's not awesome about that?

I totally got Final Jeopardy last night. Just to let you know.

I think that's all I've got for now kids. As always, check the Twitter feed and Facebook for links and other tidbits.

And if you're only here this one day a week... See you next Tuesday.

Saturday Morning Musings, 'Melo Broke My Heart Edition

Hi kids.

Happy Saturday, welcome to the weekend, blah blah blah. But seriously, I hope you have a great day all around.

Big ups to E-ve who was up late as well last night. I hope her sleep has been restful. Last night was a slow night at the restaurant but with UFC and Hockey Night in Canada she could be busier tonight. Tons of love and good luck to you my E-ve.

If you're going anywhere to watch hockey and the fights, please remember not to be a jack-ass. Smiles and please and thank you will make everything go super smooth.

Also be prepared for the lights to dim as tonight does bring Earth Hour with it. I've said my piece about Earth Hour before, but I do see it as a good educational tool. So, at 8:30 EST tonight be ready to turn the lights off, unplug electronics that aren't in use, etc. and be a part of the solution.

So, Heath and I went to the Raptors game last night. And Carmelo Anthony broke my heart. Not in the 50 point blow out kinda way that we were prepared for, but with a last second buzzer beater to give the Nuggets a 1 point win. The Raptors fought hard and rebounded quite well but made little mistakes in the end that cost them the game. My thumbs are up to Sonny Weems and Andrea Bargnani and down to Jarrett Jack's decisions in the paint and the butter fingers of everyone in the last minute.

I'll also add that the spinach dip and nachos at Casey's were a great pre-game meal. And the beer wasn't bad either.

Romeo and I tossed around some quick "how to" info yesterday about podcasting. It looks like it'll be easy enough. I won't be assisting much from my BB other than being on speaker with them, but I think Romeo and Jake can figure it out.

I heart Google.

And Batman.

I think that's all for me today friends. You guys are the bestest.

Friday Morning Musings, Spacek On Booth, Messy But Legal Edition

Howdy kids.

I'm a sleepy boy but I'm gonna get something pounded out here.

Big lovin' to E-ve. We had a great date and hang-out on Wednesday that melted into Thursday. Dinner worked well, beer was a tasty treat, we made fun of each other just enough to make sure it was funny and even snuck a nap in there. Great times had by all.

Tally whoa!

Also, huge thank you to E-ve for supplying me with cold meds yesterday morning. They worked great and I was silly not to get more when I was out.

She even rocked some Veronica Mars with me, much to my delight.

Side note: high fives to @residentmoron for having great taste in TV shows and loving Veronica Mars as well.

Big time win for the Habs last night against the Panthers. It was much needed as the games remaining tick down and the race for the play-offs heats up.

Scary moment in the game as Jaro Spacek hit Florida's David Booth hard as he crossed the blue line. Booth had his head down and met Spacek's shoulder in a violent, physical, big league body check. However, whereas most hits in the NHL end with the player getting up and skating away, this one didn't. David Booth lay on the ice before being helped to the dressing room. The probable reason is that Booth suffered a severe concussion earlier this season after a late, blind side head shot delivered by Mike Richards of the Flyers. In fact, that hit was one of the main reasons that the new blind side/ back pressure, head shot rule has been rushed into the NHL rule book. Once anyone has suffered a concussion it becomes much easier for them to suffer subsequent concussions and that may have been the case with David Booth last night. He was taken to a Montreal hospital for tests and surveillance but was said to be coherent and responsive. All of my best wishes go out to David Booth and his family as he recovers from last night's hit.

And a note to anyone on a witch hunt for someone to punish under the new rule, Jaro Spacek will not be the first to be suspended. He did not break that rule. It was a good, strong, clean hockey check that had an unfortunate outcome. That is all.

Happy Friday to all of you by the way. How could I forget.

And happy Friday especially to Heath and I as we have tickets to see the Raptors play (get slaughtered by) the Nuggets. We're hoping for either a big Raptors win, which is much needed, or a 50 point night from Carmelo Anthony.

I've done a whole pile of writing in the last few days. It's felt good. I'm enjoying it. And there's some good stuff coming from it I think.

If you caught my link to Romeo's blog the other day you saw his idea for a podcast with Jake and I. It's an interesting idea that I'm sure comes from the laughs Romeo gets from Kevin Smith's SModcast and if it comes to pass I promise to warn you about language and subject matter.

I can feel my stomach grumbling which means I should either get some cereal or a granola bar I suppose.

For those of you in Toronto be prepared for lots of news moving forward with regards to the TTC's decision to put up safety barriers at subway stations. There were a reported 18 suicide attempts on subway platforms last year and the support for the barriers has been overwhelming, but funding still needs to be found.

I think that's all for today friends. I hope that today is good, tonight is great and the weekend in better.

Saturday Morning Musings, Quick Fire Habs Over Leafs Edition

Good morning kids.

It's Saturday morning so I'm gonna whip out a quick fire edition before I figure out what to do before E-ve gets home.

As I just tweeted, E-ve and Romeo are out to lunch before she hops the bus to come home. Here's hoping I get some left-overs.

Need more Batman.

Trying to decide between yogurt and Harvest Crunch for breakfast or some of the chicken nuggets and shrimp and jalapeno poppers that I made for my March Madness Friday.

I still love watching Saturday morning TV.

The Raptors were awful last night. I'm starting to think we have a better chance at signing Amare Stoudemire this summer than keeping Chris Bosh. And I think I'm okay with that.

Go Habs Go!

Tally whoa!

I miss my mommy a wee bit.

I love www.espn.com for my sports news.

I have a Kellie Pickler song stuck in my head.

E-ve and I still need to see the Princess and the Frog.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid the movie doesn't have me sold. Not one I need to go and see.

I think that's all the randomness I have in me right now.

Have a great day and night.

Friday Morning Musings, Day 11 Edition

Hey there kids!

Happy freakin' Friday.

Big lovin' to E-ve who had a busy night yesterday. Seeing Urinetown on openning night, hitting a karaoke bar with Romeo hosting and then stopping in at our fav gay bar will make anyone sleepy. Which is why I'm assuming she's not yet replied to my good morning sms. Big X's and O's to you my E-ve.

High fives to Jake after openning night. I'm sure that tonight will be great too. And every show that follows.

March Madness has been especially mad so far. Experts and fans alike are saying that yesterday may have been the best 1st day of the tournament ever. If you've never heard of a March Madness Widow I suggest you google it. Might save your relationship.

Today is my first day off since a week ago Monday. I slept in. It was awesome. And now I'm lounging with the NCAA's on TV. Heck yes.

Baseball season just keeps getting closer. And that makes me a happy and excited boy. I'm not sure what my first game at the ballpark will be this year, but I'm hoping it's in April.

Also, Heath and I have a date to hit the Raptors game next Friday. That excites me.

It looks like the sun is shining through my blinds. Maybe I'll go out later to run some errands and see how it is for reals.

Spring is just around the corner and then comes summer and for Canadians that's a wonderful thing. Because we're so used to cold and harsh winters (which admittedly we didn't have this year) we usually go a little crazy in the summer. You'll see people that BBQ every day, wear flip flops in the rain, rock their tan lines and sunburns and just enjoy the heck out of it. Bring it on I say.

Big ups to The Score Television Network for their NCAA coverage. Split screens and fewer commercials and 13ish hours a day is hardcore.

It feels like forever since the Habs played. But tomorrow night they get a pretty hot Maple Leafs team in what should be a pretty good game.

Didn't eat pizza last night. Maybe today. Maybe not. Maybe salad. Maybe not.

Time to check out for now mes amis. There's just too much going on to concentrate.

Have a groovy Friday and a great weekend.

Thursday Morning Musings, Let The Madness Begin Edition

Hola amigos.

I hope that you are all ready for the Madness.

Super lovin’ to my E-ve. Even when she’s away she’s hilarious via text. And it sounds like St. Patrick’s Day was a success for her and the girls.

I have to make my cbc.ca hockey pool picks today since I won’t be at the computer over the next couple of days. I have no hunches at this point, but I have to be better than I have been this week. That’s for sure.

The sun is shining again, it’s awesome. They say not to get too used to it because clouds and rain will come sooner or later. But for now, I say enjoy it as best you can.

I mentioned the Madness because BYU and Florida just tipped off in the first game of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. My picks are in and my fingers are crossed and I have a different winner picked than President Obama.

I can’t believe that the Raptors won last night. I turned the game off after the 3rd quarter and was so upset about their effort that I actually Tweeted that fact. And then Chris Bosh hit a jumper with 2.1 seconds left on the clock and the 5 game losing streak ended. Thank goodness.

I could really go for a big lottery win. I should buy a ticket.

Today is day 10 of 10. So if I can make it to 7pm I’ll have completed the mission. Go team.

Msn.ca has a Top 30 Rocker Babes list on their entertainment page today. I just popped it up, haven’t looked at it. Discuss amongst yourselves and argue as needed.

I’m tempted to order pizza and chicken wings tonight and watch basketball until I pass out and then as soon as I wake up again tomorrow. I think my body can handle that. But can my spirit?

Huge love and high fives to Jake as the curtain goes up tonight on Urinetown. If you’re in the Ottawa area this weekend or next try to check it out $12 for students, $15 for the rest of us. Google the name.

And a high five to Romeo for his How I Lost My Socks At Walmart blog. I linked it. I like it.

I think that’s all for now. There’s a lot to do today.

Have a great one!

Thursday Morning Musings, Mid Afternoon Edition

Good day to you folks.

Here’s hoping that Thursday is going well.

Big ups to E-ve after a long lunch shift. Half price wings are a blessing and a curse depending on which side of the notepad you’re on.

Wag of the finger to the table that didn’t offer to share their cheesecake. How can you not share cheesecake? You know that everyone loves cheesecake. It’s a documented fact, I think.

The week is drawing to a close, and Saturday can’t come soon enough. I’m hoping that plans to catch a movie and such and have some much needed E-ve and Wally time work out as much as we hope.

Maybe we’ll see Alice and my mind will be blown. That’s what it’s supposed to do right?

Thumbs down to the Raptors who were terrible in the 3rd quarter last night in Sacramento. I’m still shaking my head.

The sun is shining, but they say the rain is on the way. I packed my little rain coat just in case.

Infinite Crisis confuses me, and I forgot that before I picked it back up. But I can’t put it back down again.

Everybody loves Zombies. Figure that one out.

The Mayfair Theatre is showing Clerks and Clerks II on March 22. If you have a chance I say go check it out. Should be a really good night.

March Madness will start soon. But I’m finding it hard to get excited since my Tar Heels won’t be involved. I’m sure that I could get into it anyway. But I don’t know who I’ll be cheering for. Probably the Syracuse Orange I guess.

I did pretty good at Jeopardy last night and even better at Wheel of Fortune. But the girl who won on Wheel was amazing on the final puzzle. I didn’t even have time to think before she blurted out Long Haul and took home $30,000 on top of the $12,000ish that she’d already won. Quite impressive.

I think that’s all for this afternoon friends. Have a great evening and remember that tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully that makes some of you smile.

Wednesday Morning Musings, Kobe Did It, I'm Sorry Edition

Good morning mes amis.

I hope that you are all smiling. I know it’s only Wednesday, but that’s not a bad thing. Look at the bright side, it’s not Tuesday.

Big loving to E-ve, she agreed with my statement about her oozing awesome. It wasn’t literal by the way. I love her, but that would be weird and a little gross.

Big ups to her also for coming up with some great ideas for upcoming hang out dates and menu ideas and such. She’s a smart one. I’m a lucky dude. She will probably agree with that too.

I would like to take this time to apologize to Toronto Raptors fans. Yesterday I said that I would take Kobe if it came down to one last game winning shot. And last night he proved me right. With 1.9 seconds left Bean/ Mamba/ Kobe rose up and hit a jumper with 2 dudes in his eye and the Lakers won 109-107. The only thing I can say is wow. And the only thing I can hope is that the Raps use their strong performance as motivation moving forward on the road trip.

I still haven’t won anything in Roll up the Rim.

Do a friend a solid and check out http://www.thereviewsarein.wordpress.com/ if you have a chance. That Joshua guy is pretty alright.

The CIBC is reporting that the Loonie could reach parity with the American dollar this summer. Be ready for complaints that things are still more expensive north of the border.

The weather is nice again today, but they say that the rain is coming. I suppose that I should be ready for it, it’s that time of year. But I’m not excited. Rain is nice to look at and listen to, but I don’t want to be out in it.

Day 2 today… only 8 more to go.

Big win for the Habs last night against the Lightning. As I’ve said, every game is huge from now til the end of the season.

I love music. Sometimes I forget that, but I love what a good song can do and where it can take you.

I think that’s about it for today kiddies. I hope that you all have a good hump day.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Kobe Or LeBron Edition

Howdy y’all.

Welcome to Tuesday. I hope the sun is shining where you are.

Big lovin’ to E-ve. She is all kinds of awesome. It oozes from her being.

Tried to do a mock fantasy baseball draft this morning on Yahoo.ca. We got a little too busy for me to keep up with my turn or the auction. I’m not sure whether I’ll play in a league this year or not. But if I do I should probably start doing my research.

Curling is on the TV here at the store. Just because the Olympics are over doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy some rocks and ice.

I’m getting excited for the Iron Man 2 release. And E-ve telling me that she wants to see it is a big reason. There is little better than a girl that wants to see a comic book movie. Win!

The news is that Jaro Halak will start in goal tonight for the Habs. With the Lightning scoring goals a pretty good pace I hope he can stand tall. We need all the wins we can get in our last 15 games.

Good luck to the Good Lovelies who have been nominated for Root & Traditional Album of the Year: Group. And since I don’t know anything about any of the nominees I’m thinking that the girls have a pretty good shot at winning. And that would be pretty cool.

Scientists are saying that it’s just coincidence that there have been so many big earthquakes around the world lately. This isn’t a preview of 2012 or anything.

The Raptors are in LA tonight to play the Lakers. It’s a game that would be absolutely amazing to win. But I’m not holding my breath. I don’t recommend that you hold yours either.

If I’m building an NBA team from scratch I’ll take LeBron James with my first overall pick. But if I need 1 shot to win a big game, give me Kobe Bryant. That’s just the way it is.

I looked at a pretty cool bike yesterday. The frame was a weird green, but it was still cool. 27 speeds, disk brakes and street tires. But $970 is a pretty heavy price tag for me.

I’ll stick to the street car.

Seal meat is going to be added to the menu at the Parliamentary restaurant. Let the controversy begin.

I think that’s all for today my friends. Remember to tell the ones that you love how great they are. They deserve it.

And as always, if you’re only here this one day of the week, see you next Tuesday.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Evening And Sorry For Being Away Edition

Hello world.

I hope you’re well.

Sorry about the delay in writing. It’s been a long few days.

Big ups to E-ve. She’s pretty awesome and working hard. I’m happy to report that games night was a success (I think) and everyone had a good time. Here’s hoping that they don’t have to wait long to have another.

Lots of love to everyone who is always in my corner.

I am thinking of getting french fries for dinner tonight on the way home. I don’t want to kill the Home Cooking Experiment, but I’ve got a craving and it’s hard to ignore. I also think that since I didn’t eat a real lunch I can use that as an exception.

I’ve been trying to keep the Twitter feed rolling, but since the Olympics have ended there hasn’t been much to say.

I will say this though; the Toronto Raptors are in trouble. They can’t seem to win without Chris Bosh, and he hasn’t been on the floor. You do the math. Sad faces.

Now I don’t want to get on a rant here, (Dennis Miller, anyone remember him?) but I thought we had a chance to catch Boston for the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics look old and tired and we should have been able to catch them in the second half of the season. The guys look weak on defense, sloppy on offense and are letting some really good momentum get away. Sonny Weems can keep throwing down fast break dunks all night, but it’s not going to win us any games. Pull up your socks boys. Both figuratively and literally (it’s a good look, search Keith Van Horn in Google images) and let’s see what happens.

The newest list of competitors has been released for Dancing with the Stars. It includes Pamela Anderson and Kate Gosselin and Chad Ochocinco among others. I don’t watch the show, so we’ll wait and see what the fans and critics think.

It seems as though winter has ended in Toronto now that the Olympics are over. Roll up the Rim has started at Tim Hortons and the weather is getting warmer. Get your flip flops ready my friends.

High fives to everyone who celebrated peacefully after Canada’s win over the USA on Sunday. I am proud of you. It was an emotional event and you showed some true Canadian spirit. As for the rest of you, please remember next time that happy isn’t a reason to wreck stuff. Merci.

I think that’s all for this evening mes amis. Have a good night.

And, as for always, if this is the only day you’re here each week, we’ll see you next Tuesday.

Friday Morning Musings, Reggie Reggie And A Big Cookie Edition

Hey there friends.

It's Friday and we all know what that means... Yesterday was Thursday.

And a great Thursday it was. E-ve and I had a wonderful day of hanging out and eating and grocery shopping and walking and Booster Juicing and napping and Kevin Smith watching from morning til night.

Wednesday night E-ve actually came over to start the date and rocked a great dinner for us. 3 courses including Mussels, salad and 5 cheese medalians with a Bolognaise sauce. Mmm.

Wednesday night also saw the Habs break up the Capitals winning streak. The Raptors beat Philly and the much anticipated return of Reggie Evans to the Raptors line-up. The fans chanted his name as he prepared to enter the game for the first time this season.

Today it's back to work after some schedule changes but right now I'm mobile as I head to another store for a pick-up. Not a bad way to waste some time.

I'm getting quite excited as my bday draws near and I get to spend time with E-ve and Jake and Romeo and Heath all at the same time. All the while being spoiled by my favourite Auntie Z.

Today is of course the first day of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The first event goes on the ski hills this afternoon and the Opening Ceremonies will officially kick things off tonight.

Good luck to all of the Team Canada athletes as they go for gold.

Last night I popped in the DVD of the 2002 mens hockey gold medal game from Salt Lake City to get myself ready for the action. And even though I fell asleep mid-way through the 2nd period I'm pretty sure that Canada won.

The new TV is being set up at work right now, so there will be Olympic action available as well as all the other action that the sporting world has to offer. I'm happy.

I think that's about a wrap for now my friends.

I'll close with some awesome news. E-ve very much seemed to like part 1 of her Valentine's Day surprise which made me very happy. And E-ve herself busted out with the surprising by baking me a huge chocolate cookie with a big icing I Love You written on top. The picture is on Twitter and will soon make its way to Facebook. I'm a lucky guy folks.

Have a great Friday and a fantastic weekend.

Wednesday Morning Musings, Home Cooking Experiment And Reggie Evans Edition

Bonjour mes amis.

Let’s get to it. Happy Wednesday.

Big ups to E-ve on a day off. I hope that it’s super relaxing and full of nothing.

Monday night we had a great hang out date night after I got home from work. The relaxing and chatting and such was fantastic. E-ve also contributed to the Home Cooking Experiment by whipping up some split pea w/ ham soup and cheesy English muffin garlic bread.

We’re hoping to have another tonight, but I’m not sure what’s on the menu as I forgot to get anything out of the freezer.

Last night’s Home Cooking Experiment saw me put together some taquitos and veggies just like the Super Bowl, but I also made some hashbrowns with cheese on top. It was a good combo with pickles and cheese on the side. I ate a lot of food, but I must have been hungry because I wasn’t guppied or anything after.

Tonight the Raptors and Canadiens are in action. The Habs look to bust up the Washington Capitals win streak which won’t be easy. And the Raptors look to win a game that shouldn’t be an issue against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Word is that Reggie Evans may hit the floor for the first time all season. That would be welcome.

I watched the Toronto disk from An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder last night. I hadn’t watched it in a long time and it was awesome. I laughed out loud a few times, especially at the Jesus jokes.

Let me set something straight here, I love Jesus. He’s gotten me through a lot in my life. But I’m a firm believer in needing to be able to laugh at things so that they don’t become too serious and start to edge towards angry.

The snow is falling in Toronto today. But it’s nothing compared to what some cities in the United States are getting. New York City made the announcement yesterday that they were closing the schools today. And Washington D.C. is getting pounded.

We are only 3 days away from the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Everyone is getting pretty excited. I’m just hoping that the venues work out and the Canadians are able to put on a good show.

More and more photos from the Home Cooking Experiment are making their way to the Wally Z’s Morning Musings page on Facebook. Check them out to see what I’ve been putting together.

I think that’s all for today folks. I hope that you all have a rocking good time with the rest of your day.

Thursday Morning Musings, Still Buzzing Edition

Good morning y'all.

Here's hoping that you're all over the hump comfortably and moving forward with your week.
Big ups to E-ve on a day off today. Unless she picks up a shift at the restaurant.

Yesterday was an exciting exciting day in the life of Wally and E-ve. We saw a Raptor and a hero and Canada's dad.

Breakfast started the days festivities as we rocked some fantastic crepes. Mine with a western omelete inside and some fruit and whole wheat toast to go with. And E-ve's rolled up into a ham and eggs and cheese and grilled like a panini. Good food for sure, fresh coffee as a bonus. And Reggie Evans walked in the restaurant to top it all off. If you don't know who Reggie is I won't hold it against you. He is one of the nine new Raptors that were brought in this season, but he hasn't played since the pre-season. He is a large dude, with a kinda scary lookin thing going on. But I was impressed and nonetheless. Maybe even more so.

The afternoon was exciting thanks to a quickly put together plan to see one of my pop-culture heroes and the man he calls Canada's dad. Kevin Smith was in town to help promote the 4th annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament. The charity events raises funds for the CNIB and local gigs as well. And this year's goal, as put forth by Mr. Smith, is to break the record of 192 teams registered and playing in a Street Hockey tourny.

E-ve was a big fan of the cuteness of Mr. Walter Gretzky through out the day. He is a pretty adorable old man, I'll give him that.

Excitement continued with Wheel of Fortune as we watched from the comfort of the apt. and I came up with the answer in the bonus round. The catagory was Phrase and after the RSTLNE were up it looked a little something like this: _ _ _ _ _ N E / T _ _ T/ I'll give the answer later.

After E-ve made her way home to Wii fit it up and grab some dinner I chit chatted with Jake and Romeo about the day's events and got my last piece of exciting news for the day. Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths will be released on February 23rd. It's the latest in the line of DC animated features and will blow your mind if you're not familiar with the story lines that can come up with the DC Universe. There's a good Lex Luther and a set of bad guys that mirror the Justice League. I've already watched the trailer on Youtube and I think that this one could be good.

Habs game tonight against the long time rival Boston Bruins. The Habs need wins in a big bad way to stay in the play-off picture while they try to get healthy.

Last night was another dinner made at home. I think that I'm soon going to put a piece together that showcases all the good (and bad) stuff that I've made instead of scarfing down cheeseburgers and shawarma. But I do miss the shawarma.

Linked Romeo's latest blog entry on the Twitter feed last night. He's getting to be a regular. I like it.
The answer to Wheel of Fortune was IMAGINE THAT.

I think that's all for now mes amis. Tomorrow is another day off, so be jealous if you want to be. Maybe I'll go celeb hunting again.

Wednesday Morning Musings, High Fives And Big Smiles Edition

Hey there boys and girlies.

Happy Wednesday, here's hoping that you're all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Big lovin' to E-ve this morning. She's starting to ask questions about part 1 of her V-Day surprise. I'm not answering though. I want to, cause I wanna see her smile, but I'm gonna do my best to save the surprise.

High fives to Jake who is working today. His old routine of mid-week weekends is over and I think he's going to dig it.

Best wishes to E-ve's mom today. She's the reason that there's an E-ve, so she's cool beans in my books.

I'm trying to write this on my BB while the hockey highlights are on my TV. It's a tough gig.

Sports notes from last night...

- Habs win against the visiting Canucks. It was a big win for the team and the fans because it was the first game without Cammalleri.

- Leafs win at home versus the Devils. J-S Giguere recorded a 3-0 shut out in his first start for the Buds.

- Raptors laid an egg in Indy. Bosh scored 35 and Barney scored 34 and we lost by 15. End of win streak. But we get the 4-43 Nets tonight. So cross your fingers.

I just saw on the news ticker that a 74 year old woman from Hamilton has been arrested on an old drug charge. If it's your mum or grandma make sure you get her to share some of those old stories.

I have no idea why my mind is so blank this morning. It's like a blank slate.

Big smile on my face as I just got off the phone with E-ve and she's going to meet me downtown for some awesome hangout time. I'm happy.

I think I'm gonna cut it off here my friends. Like a good pair of denim shorts, not too short and not too long.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Part 1 And The Quest For 6 Edition

Good day to you my fine furry friends! And to you who aren't so furry as well.

Big ups to my E-ve. I've started part 1 of her Valentine's Day package. I'm not sure how many parts there will be, but I'm liking the idea for this one.

I'm excited to have tomorrow off instead of working. It's against normal routine. And then Thursday I'm at a different store for a short shift before going home and having Friday off as well.

The Raptors go for their 6th straight win tonight in Indiana. I've already started getting messages from friends that are full of excitement for the team. I hope that they don't disappoint.

Tonight is also the first time that the new look Maple Leafs will take the ice. Fans in Toronto hope that they fare better than the new look Flames did last night against the Flyers.

We're watching a pretty terrible Hulk animated movie. I hope it's over soon.

Here's hoping that day 2 at the new place is going well for Jake.

And I'm hoping that Romeo is starting to become mobile again. And wish him luck on the quitting smoking campaign.

I can feel my stomach starting to rumble. I'm not sure if I want to eat or just get more coffee though.

I wrote a birthday wish list last night and posted it on the Long Form Musings. Have a look if you like.

The Oscar nominations were handed out this morning. I haven't checked the list yet but I'm sure there will be some internet buzz if you look hard enough.

Thanks to everyone that is awesome.

And as per usual, if you're only here this one day a week, see you next Tuesday.

Monday Morning Musings, Welcome To February Quick Fire Edition

Good morning y'all.

Welcome to your new work week.

I'm on the BB so I think we'll go with an old fashioned quick fire edition.

Big ups to E-ve for being cool beans. Here's hoping for a good, long, restful day.

Best wishes to Mrs. E-ve's mom today as she's under the weather this morning.

Go team me as I've already cruised through a crossword and a half this morning.

Big smiles from me after a Raptors win last night. That makes 5 in a row and there are more winnable games coming up on the schedule.

Wishes for quick healing go to Hedu Turkoglu as he took a shot to the face and now has a non-displaced fracture of his orbital bone. There are rumours that the team is going to try to get him to wear a mask and play but no official word yet.

E-ve is excited about the moves made by the Maple Leafs yesterday if for no other reason than she now has an excuse to say Phaneuf more often.

I'm waiting on more news from the Habs regarding Mike Cammalleri and his knee. I'm hoping for good news. Cross your fingers for me.

More serious thoughts of job hunting are on my mind.

Congrats to the Zac Brown Band after they won the Best New Artist Award at the Grammy's last night. I really do dig on those guys. And their Chicken Fried.

I watched Chuck last night on City TV... Things are gonna get dicey for my hero pretty soon.

The show also keeps breaking my heart just a little bit with the Sarah and Chuck lines.

I think that's about it for me today ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy your day as much as you can.

Friday Morning Musings, Pancakes And Dribble Penetration Edition

Bonjour mes amis.

Bon job making it to Friday. I'm proud of you all.

Big ups to E-ve at work on a split today. Whether you stop in for lunch or dinner today make sure you smile big and tip bigger.

Speaking of tips, follow Jake to his new location next week and tip him well. It'll be worth the trip to the new place.

Catwoman is on TV and that makes me sad. There are a lot of other channels on my cable package, and I'll find something else. But still, that movie was so bad.

Great win for the Raptors in New York last night. The turnovers almost killed the home team but they were able to pull out a win with lots of good ball movement and dribble penetration. Job well done boys.

A+ to E-ve for great pancakes and bacon last night. It was a great dinner that finished off a day of grocery shopping and cleaning in the apartment.

The grocery shopping was a success. The fridge, the freezer and the cupboards are stocked.

Highlights included:
-Soy
-Fish
-Chicken quarters
-Mini-Wheats (blueberry and also brown sugar)
-Cheese
-Eggs
-Pork chops
-Veggies
-etc.

It is cold out in the world today. If you're headed out be sure that you're bundled up please and thank you.

"Wok this way!"

Happy Friday kids.

Wednesday Morning Musings, Wii Belong In This World Together Edition

Good day to you all.

I hope that the chilly weather hasn’t shocked your systems too badly.

It’s mid-week now, half way to Romeo’s weekend, the first day of Jake’s weekend and my Friday.

Big ups to E-ve and best wishes to her mom for a speedy recovery from her current bout of not feeling so great. She’s a trooper. And all kinds of love to E-ve for being a great daughter and care giver.

All kinds of luck and positive thoughts are being sent to the ACC tonight as the Raptors take on the Miami Heat and try to continue their climb up the Eastern Conference standings. I really believe that this is a play-off team. I don’t know if they can win in the play-offs, but I think that they can get there.

Police in Toronto have started a street crossing safety blitz in response to the multiple deaths in the first 3 weeks of the year. I never thought it would have to come to this, but people actually need to be told to watch for traffic.

PETA is proposing a robot stand-in for groundhogs for this Groundhog’s Day. I didn’t read the story because I think it’s a little ridiculous. If you want to see what they have to say it can be found at yahoo.ca

The story in the news right now is that South and North Korea exchanged fire near a sea border that is much contested. It can’t be good for the world that North Korea has their back up and is ready to fire any kind of weapon.

I watched the Habs play in Florida last night and had my heart broken in the 3rd period. The boys couldn’t hold a 1-0 lead in the game and lost 2-1 after a penalty shot and an even strength goal.

I have urges to play video games. And I don’t usually have those thoughts. Maybe I’ll clean the apartment so that E-ve will bring the Wii over.

There are still 6 hours left in the work day. This could be a long one.

I hope everyone in internet land has a good one.

Later my friends.
