Good morning folks.
Tomorrow is Canada Day. I hope that everyone has their plans made and is ready to go.
E-ve is on a bus headed for the nation’s capital where Canada Day is always amazing. Have a great time, xoxo.
And then the day after that Jake and Mrs. Jake are headed to the east coast for family time. Safe travels and enjoy your time!
As for me here in Toronto, it’s looking like a Blue Jays matinee and post game fireworks display.
I’m sitting here at work working on coffee number 2, one from Starbucks and one from Tim Hortons. They were both purchased at the same time so the one I’m working on now is getting pretty cold.
Started reading the Superman/ Batman book on the way to work this morning. The only thing that’s hard so far is trying to make sense out of Bizzaro Superman #1 and Batzarro. Those guys are making my brain go crazy.
Remember that “song” Don’t Forget To Wear Sunscreen? It’s on the iTunes radio right now. I can’t remember the last time I heard it.
And now that I’ve heard it I’m reminded of valedictorian’s addresses from the past and Dr. Seuss’ Oh The Places You’ll Go. Great book.

Monday Morning Musings, Between Parties Edition
Happy Monday and good morning people of the world wide web.
It is post Pride, pre Canada Day Monday. And in the end all it really comes down to is a party clean up day for some and a party planning day for others. If anyone is having a party, let us know. Everyone loves a party.
Sad to report, as many others have reported, that Toronto will not be hosting any fireworks for Canada Day. The city workers strike has forced the city to cut the display. I’d invite Torontonians to jump on the GO Train and head east or west to see some fireworks in other lakeshore cities.
Big love to E-ve and hopes for a great shift at the restaurant today. Smile big and flirt for tips.
Side note: E-ve got to drive the riding lawn mower for the very first time at Mommy Z’s party and was pretty excited to do so. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to grab a picture.
Friends of ours have a website launched to support their business. Check it out at www.ittakesmorethanwords.com they do wedding, reception, party and even proposal planning. They are also on Twitter @morethanwordspr. They tell me that they are going to try to be funny and informative. Good luck to them.
Stopped at the used book store on the way home from work yesterday and ended up going home with 2 new comics and a DVD. The comics are Batman: False Faces and Superman/Batman: Vengeance, I’m almost done False Faces and I’m liking it. There’s a Wonder Woman story in there too which was cool for me because I’d never read a Wonder Woman comic before other than full Justice League stuff. The DVD was Superman: Doomsday, which is a fun watch, and I watched it last night along with a bunch of the special features.
Side note: The voice of Superman belongs to Adam Baldwin (aka Agent John Casey from Chuck) and that made me geek out a little.
Side note II: The Green Lantern movie comes out in less than a month!
The weather folks in Toronto are calling for rain at some point of every day for the next 5 days or so. It’s sunny right now, but I’m not betting on the fact that it’s going to stay that way.
Baseball gets back to normal this week as Interleague play has finished. The Blue Jays didn’t fair all too well against the teams from the senior circuit, so maybe getting back to facing the American League is a good thing.
There’s still a lot of day ahead of us here, so we should probably get to work.

Sunday Morning Musings, Happy Pride!
Good morning everyone.
There is so much to talk about today since we skipped yesterday.
1. Today is the Toronto Pride Parade! And even though there is rain, this parade and the parties that come with it will not be stopped.
2. Mommy Z’s party was awesome and everyone had a great time.
3. Thanks to everyone that came to the party or sent best wishes to Mommy Z.
4. I also had a great time doing some real fishing for real Bass after playing the iPhone fishing game. Sad news though as one fish may not have long left to swim after he swallowed almost my entire hook.
5. Thank you to E-ve for helping set up and clean up this weekend.
Thumbs down to the Blue Jays after losing 10-0 yesterday to the Phillies. But a huge WOW to Jayson Werth after he landed a shot in the 5th deck in left field.
Get well soon wishes to littlest brother Z, who is actually the tallest, as he spent some time in the Port Perry hospital yesterday in the afternoon. Thanks to the staff for taking care of him and getting him back home safe. Looks like he suffered a concussion and some scrapes and bruises after a motocross mishap.
Pretty awesome thing I learned on Twitter today. If you search “Pride Toronto” in the Google search bar the bar up top turns into the rainbow flag.
I’m itching to watch a Jays game on TV, listen to music, eat lunch, see E-ve, plan a maybe trip to Ottawa for Canada Day, etc.
The Canada Day thing is going to come down to cash flow, as everything usually does, and would be a short trip, but it’s very tempting.
E-ve and I got to take a nice drive through the home town yesterday. The sun was shining, the yard sales were up and running and the only time we came close to an accident was when the chick cop was over the yellow line and I had to move a little closer to the curb than I should have.
Congratulations to Aaron Hill who just hit his 18th home run of the year breaking Roberto Alomar’s single season Blue Jay record for second basemen.
Side note: My legs hurt, my back hurts and I have no idea why? Paddle boating maybe? Lifting table and such without bending my knees perhaps?
Saw the Kings of Leon on an SNL rerun last night and now have their music stuck in my head. I’m not complaining, I like their music it’s a compliment I guess.

Friday Morning Musings, We'll Miss You Michael Edition
Good morning everyone and happy Friday!
Tonight is Mommy Z's party and we're already on our way. Thanks to the GO transit system for taking us as far as it will and thanks to Mommy Z for picking us up where it stops.
E-ve is meeting me on the train and the little brother is meeting us at the bus. It's a family day 4 months after the provincial holiday of the same name.
Huge thanks to E-ve for putting the play list together for tonight.
From what I hear everyone enjoyed themselves at Romeo's birthday party the other night. And there was less nudity than anyone expected. I also hear that there were some awesome bacon and banana treats delivered to the birthday boy. He's a lucky guy.
We're taking a moment today to say good-bye to entertainment legends Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. They were both huge stars and we pass on condolences to family, friends and fans.
Also, in the style of Stephen Colbert, a wag of the finger to whomever was responsible for the rumours of the passing of both Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford. Shame on you.
Dissapointing loss for the Blue Jays last night as they weren't able to finish the sweep of the Reds. Congrats to hometown boy Joey Votto though as he showed why he's a world class player and fan favourite in Cincy.
Watched more HIMYM season 1 last night. The show really is top notch.
The NBA draft went last night in NYC and the Raptors had the ninth overall pick. It went something like this:
David Stern: With the ninth selection in the 2009 NBA draft the Toronto Rators select DeMar DeRozan from the University of Southern California.
DeRozan is a long, athletic dude with a ton of potential. He's a swing man that can guard 3 positions and has a reported 39 inch vertical leap. It's also his legend that he first dunked a basketball on a 10 foot rim in the 6th grade. Be ready Raptors fans, Triano and Colangelo like this guy and it looks like he's going to get some minutes.
The NHL Entry Draft goes tonight with all sorts of speculation as to what may happen with trades and picks. Tavares and Hedman are still expected to go first and second, but the order has yet to be confirmed.
There's a dad and daughter behind me talking about The Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus. It's adorable.
We're now moving east on the GO tracks and soon E-ve will be with me.
We'll call it a day from here.

Wednesday Morning Musings, No Booze Strike Yet Edition
Happy Hump Day everyone.
Wednesday is here, day 3 of the City of Toronto strike meaning no garbage pick-up. But, on the bright side, the LCBO employees have opted not to strike as long as contract talks continue to progress in good faith.
Yesterday in Ontario over $17 million worth of alcohol was sold. Reports show that a regular busy day in June would usually pull in around $7 million. That’s a whole lot of booze people. I think that everyone should thank their local pub and bar owner for stocking up just in case the strike went down so that you wouldn’t have to be without a rye and Coke.
Speaking of rye and Coke. Today is the day. Romeo’s birthday has reached us and that means he will be birthday drunk. If you’ve never experienced birthday drunk and you’re in Ottawa tonight, take a walk down Queen Street and listen for the sounds of party.
Happy birthday buddy. I wish you many bananas and much bacon.
Hopeful feelings of E-ve getting better are going out strong this morning. The weather is not helping with current conditions.
The Blue Jays had a big win last night against hometown boy Joey Votto and the Reds. It was a good thing that we built an early lead as the bullpen didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the fans with their effort.
I’m getting hungry and it bothers me. I used to be able to sit here and not need or even want to eat until late in the afternoon, and now I feel like a 17 year old again wanting to eat all the time. Not cool body, not cool.
There are some big paving and cement pouring pieces of equipment in front of the store right now and the country kid in me really wants to jump in the driver seat to see what it can do.
Yesterday the Hockey Hall of Fame announced its’ induction class. Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille and Brian Leetch will join the many legends of the game after long successful careers.
Time to go folks. There is work to be done and food to be eaten. Later days.

Tuesday Morning Musings, Time To Stock Up Edition
Good morning friends of Tuesday.
It’s strike day 2 in Toronto, but maybe even more important is the prospect of the LCBO employees going on strike. This is a very scary idea for a lot of people. First of all the bars need to be stocked and ready to go for Romeo’s party tomorrow night. Secondly, Mommy Z’s party is Friday and the word dry has no place anywhere near that party.
Because it is Tuesday there will be new movies available on TMN On Demand tonight when I get home from work. I’m not sure if they’ll be good, or if I’ll watch any of them. But the new content will be there none the less.
Thank you tons to E-ve for putting together the play list for Mommy Z’s party. It’s equipment check time tonight so I know if we need anything for Friday and then we’re ready to go!
Tonight is the night for Transformers fans to rival fans of all the other huge summer blockbusters. There will be midnight showings all over the place. One of the guys here has his IMAX ticket ready and jealous I am.
The Blue Jays are back in action tonight as the Cincinnati Reds are in town for more interleague play. I can only hope that taking the pitcher out of the friggin batting line-up can help us score some more runs and win some games. We aren’t out of this thing yet, but we can’t be giving up ground at this time of year.
We started talking about movies that are great when they’re on TV but that you may not ever own on DVD. (unless you’re Jake) The conversation and list started with Walking Tall (the one w/ The Rock) others that come to mind, other ones suggested were The Replacements (which I may in fact buy one of these days) and Josie and the Pussycats (but I do own that one). What movies are you too ashamed to own, but will make time for on TV?
I watched more HIMYM season 1 last night. The Slutty Pumpkin and The Pineapple Incident included. And I still, after all this time, want to know where that pineapple came from!
There may be more Chuck watched today, it’s hard to say. There has been a discussion regarding what to watch and it’s on a pretty long list right now.
Side note: I love rock along with my country.
I think that’s all for today. Time to post, discuss viewing options and maybe start to think about lunch.

Monday Morning Musings, Summer Strike Edition
Good morning Monday readers.
I hope that everyone had a good weekend.
I’m starting to see countdowns pop up with regards to Romeo’s birthday. It’s a scary and wondrous thing.
Wake up calls seemed to come early this morning. But, everyone got to work on time and has started their day whether they like it or not.
The plan here today is to write now and Chuck as soon as we’re done. I’ve got episode 3 all set up and ready to go and am rather excited about it.
Watched the MMVA’s last night and it wasn’t a bad way to waste a couple of hours on a Sunday night. I had no other plans, and there wasn’t really anything else on TV that intrigued me. There seem to be a few videos on YouTube of the event. Find them if you wish.
I’ve been spending a bunch of time playing the fishing game on the new iPhone.
I ended up eating a pint of iced cream for dinner last night. Went back to the If I Had 1,000,000 Flavors, it didn’t disappoint.
So, I’m rereading another Batman series right now on the way to and from work and yesterday I had 2 dudes start up conversations about it. The first guy asked for a smoke and was then smart enough to know that even though the title was Batman it was Azrael on the cover. The second guy was drunk and still drinking a tall boy of Keiths on the bus and sat down next to me. He told me that someday he was going to be just like Batman someday and kick crime in the ass. He then sat silently, thinking it seems, before adding that “Hush” was a great Batman series. I told him he was right and then got off of the bus so that I could buy my iced cream.
It’s official, the city of Toronto inside and outside workers have gone on strike. So now the city run daycare’s are closed and there will be no garbage pick up. It’s hot outside and it’s going to be muggy and humid and that means that if the strike lasts long there is going to be a bad stink over the city of Toronto. We only hope that the city and the workers can come to an agreement that works for everyone.
Toronto Pride is in full swing now as today the rainbow flag will be raised at city hall. It’s a pretty awesome world when the largest city in the country will hoist the flag and celebrate the things that bring us all together and make us all one society.
I think we’ll end on that cheery note.
